News
Hello!

Hello fellow authors!

Courtney has been doing such a great job of keeping everyone updated on the new things happening around the site that I don't want to bump down all the awesome things she has been doing, but she encouraged me to introduce myself.

I'm Leticia (or Tish), aka creativechaos and I will be a new administrator here at NSYNC-Fiction. I will be mostly a helper to Courtney, because she has done such a great job taking over already. I will be behind the scenes of most of her work, and I will be the work behind the new Unwritten 2.0, bringing back author interviews and features.

You can catch me frequently in the author chat room, and if you need any help you can also contact me on Twitter @_creativechaos (don't forget the underscore).

Last but not least, don't forget that today (Sunday) is the last day to sign up for Secret Santa 2015! If you want to get in on the fun, get your submission in by TONIGHT! Don't miss out! The link to the survey is https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ZPD7QM8

I look forward to our new adventures and new stories!

Story Of The Month

Hello authors!

Story of the Month is a new and exciting addition to our archive! Apart from the featured stories section, at the beginning of each month a story will be featured as a stand alone with its own spotlight! In January I will have some type of poll so the story can be voted on rather than just having me pick one.  If your story is featured as story of the month it will be posted on the top of the page for all to see! You will also get a cool icon as pictured above with the main Nsync member that is in your story! Happy writing and Congratulations to Hollie for being November Story of the Month!

We want YOU…to send in your questions for our first featured author! Do you have a burning question you’d like to ask an author about their stories or their writing? Send it in to us at nsyncfictionarchive@gmail.com!

We need readers like you to send in some good questions for our authors to be featured when we interview them. We will choose at least 3 fan questions from the submissions and ask our authors. Don’t forget, our first featured author will be AceofSpades in January, so please send in your questions by December 20th!

And don’t forget that we need a new featured author for February. Please send in your submissions for current, active authors over on the archive and we will choose a new one for February!

New Tumblr, Unwritten 2.0

I've been updating this site like crazy and you all must think I'm crazy, lol, but I hope you're having fun.  One of our members elle-miranda has graciously agreed to run a new Tumblr page for the site.  If you do not have a tumblr account you can create one for free at tumblr.com.

The link to our tumbler is nsynfiction.tumblr.com.  Feel free to add it to your bookmarks.

In other news, we are attempting to bring back the Unwritten site.    It will now be called Unwritten 2.0.  If you remember, there used to be a site called Unwritten that showcased an author each month by asking them questions and talking about some of the stories they've written.  Thanks to one of our other members creativechaos, we are starting up a new version of it. She has graciously agreed to design and run the website for us!

Please bookmark  http://nfunwritten.wordpress.com/.  We will be featuring the first author in January 2015! Check out what is on the page so far and stay tuned!

If your next question is, what about awards? The answer is, yes we are going to have them. We will be starting submissions for that sometime in January and creating a separate webpage for it.  The winners will recieve graphic art banners designed by DiamondDoss.  In the meantime, if you have any cool award category ideas to share please send them to nsyncfictionarchive@gmail.com or tweet to @nsyncfiction. If you don't feel like doing that you can even post them in the comments below! I'm not picky!

I have a lot of other things that I want to make happen here, but I don't want to overload you all with too many paragraphs. Some ideas rolling out for next year will be Story of the Month, Be My ValeNsync, and the Get Lucky challenge!

And lastly, as a reminder, submissions for Secret Santa 2014 will be accepted until Sunday 11/9. That is THIS Sunday! Please, if you are still interested, get your survey in by using the survey monkey link at the top of the page! I really want everyone to get their santa matches by Monday 11/10 the latest!

xo!

Writing 101

Thanks to some feedback from a fellow member, I have decided to implement a Writing Tips page for us. Each week, I will find a new, fun article to keep your creative juices flowing.  This weeks article is below, but they will all be archived in the Browse panel under Writing 101. If you find any good articles that you would like to have featured please email nsyncfictionarchive@gmail.com or tweet @nsyncfiction with the link!

Finding Your Muse

1. Listen to music. Songs, and music in general, are great ways to boost your muse. The lyrics and the melodies that you listen to can help alleviate thoughts that might load you down, making it increasingly hard to "find muse" to roleplay with. One of the more classic advices for "finding muse", but it seems to work so well.

2. Explore your world. This is something that is overlooked, simply because we go to and from the places that we need to - home, work, the grocery store, ect - but we don't take the time to enjoy them. So much happens around us - a bird that flies into a door, the girl who accidentally steps in dog feces, some woman two aisles over who slips on water that wasn't properly wiped up, the guy who parks his car "halfway" into the grass at an odd angle - there's ideas all around you, and they happen "naturally". Let them give you ideas to build your muse.

3. Begin writing anyways. You may not have ideas, but simply writing something down can help generate some thoughts. Consider it like brainstorming, and remember that you can always "start over" or revise previous thoughts before you finish any final drafts. Writing in and of itself, especially if you reread what you are writing as you let yourself think of new ideas, can help to generate thoughts as well.

4. Socialize with people often. This can also be a key component of muse. If you surround yourself with several personality types in your daily life, you will see how each of them respond in normal situations "and" they can help to inspire some of the best stories. Just think of when your friend did something that was hilarious or that wasn't in his usual behavior and made you think. There are unwritten tales all around you.

5. Read a lot of different tales. Even if you stick to one genre when you write yourself, you can borrow smaller concepts, personality quirks, or even scenery ideas, and so much more from reading several types of books. Each book was probably inspired from the author's own exploration of other books or tales and things that happened to or around them in their daily lives. If you aren't reading a lot lately, see if picking up a book once in a while doesn't help spark your muse some.

Featured Stories
I have picked several stories to feature. Usually they do a vote, but since those stories had been up for a very long time, I wanted to get some new ones up there. I tried to put a mix of stories so all you readers would have someting to try out. In January I will start a voting process for featured stories again.  I hope you enjoy them!

Member Chat

I have created a member chat room. It is chatzy but I have put in a few dollars to make it a premium room so there can be unlimited users.  Here is the link if you are interested. You can feel free to use the room to bounce secret santa ideas off one another, however, keep in mind not to share who your secret santa is, just plot lines and such.  I will be hosting chats every Tuesday night starting at 8pm you can come in and ask me questions and give me feedback for the site.

When you go to the link, it will ask you for some basic information, such as your name. You can just use your handle here if you are not comfortable with that. Questions? Feel free to ask.

Thankful One Shots

As a small prequel to our Secret Santa challenge, I wanted to put this out there for anyone who might be debating submitting to the challenge, just to get their creative juices flowing. Since there was no Fall Into Fall challenge this year, and I know some of you haven't written in awhile, maybe you can give this a try.

Write a short story or one shot about one or all of the guys being thankful for something. You can use the idea of thankful in any way you see fit. You can respond the challenge under Challenges in the browse by  section. Remember, this doesn't have to be fancy or perfect, it just has to be fun!

Admin News

Hello Authors and Readers!

I have spoken to Whitney tonight.  Unfortunately her job leaves her so swamped that she hasn't been able to be active on the site. She has asked me to become an admin in her absence. I just want to say how excited I am for this opportunity. I've been a part of this site for so long, and I'd like to breathe some new life into it if I can.

Just a little bit about me.  I'm 31, and I love anything Justin related. My favorite type of fiction to write is Alternate Universe, but I've written many genres. The best story I've ever written was Business First. I love to sing and write, and I work retail. That about sums me up in a couple of sentences.

I'm open to any thoughts or suggestions anybody might have. I'd like to start challenges after Secret Santa, and get some new featured stories out, as well as an awards for next year.  I know there are a lot of you out there writing as well as lurking and I would love to hear from all of you! Message me anytime! Thanks and Stay Nsync!

Xo

It's time for the 6th annual NF Secret Santa Story Exchange!   For this Exchange, you fill out a survey to express your preferences on how you'd like a story to be written for you.  In return, you also agree to write a story for someone else based on their preferences.   Stories must be complete in no fewer than 1,000 words, and it must be posted on time.  If there is an issue with anything, please email me at secretsantansync@gmail.com.

Surveys must be complete by Sunday, November 9th

The due dates for the challenge will be December 20-December 31st.  Secret Santas are to remain anonymous until the story is posted!  They will be chosen at random and are divided according to preferences.

Please add secretsantansync@gmail.com to your address book so you will be able to receive any emails about the challenge.  I will be accepting submissions now through November 9th, so everyone has a good amount of time to write their stories.

Poptober News!

We're just about at the halfway mark of POP!Tober and we've had some great entries by awesome writers, some we haven't heard from in a bit, so YAY!

We have half the month left and this train is speeding ahead... if you have a moment, take some time to read the challenge stories posted here at http://tinyurl.com/NFPopTober.

If you're not following NSYNCFiction on twitter, do it now! @nsyncfiction. We have an awesome community of writers online. Help, a beta, or just some commiseration about writing is but 140 characters away!

Please ALSO take a moment to drop a line to the authors of the stories you read, even if you only read a chapter. Challenges are difficult since we demand a finished, polished product. We are fortunate in that we have a system that allows for almost instant feedback. MANY writers don't get that! Authors put a lot of work into their stories... a nice word of encouragement goes a long way.

See you all back here for the next story in our exciting October Challenge! Happy POP!Tober to all!

POPTOBER!

PopTober starts tomorrow! HOORAY!

We're excited for a month of NEW stories to read and review. Please be sure to check here at NF daily for the new story to be posted... then read it... then PLEASE leave a review! Writers pour their heart and sould into a piece especially for the archive!

A couple of reminders:

1. If you're new to the archive, you must post your story as per normal, first. THEN go to the challenge, click on RESPOND TO THE CHALLENGE, and add your story. If it's not already up in your account, you won't be able to add it!

2. I STILL have about 9 open dates if anyone is interested in writing a shortie, longie, visual... as long as the main character is an *NSYNCer, it goes!

3. PLEASE make sure your piece is complete, edited, picture perfect on the day you've chosen to post. Please also post as early as possible so we have time to send people to read it. There is no use in dedicating a day to YOU if there is no story to point to.

Thanks, and let's get this party started! See you all October 1!
