I'm finally all caught up! They definitely delivered. Hope you update soon. You have quite the talent! Thank you for this wonderful story.

Author's Response: I like to make sure every chapter is written with care. But I think it's safe to say I'll be updating this thing fairly soon.

This got me tearing up. I'm in the mood for a little Elton John as well.

Author's Response: Sorry if I made you cry. Or maybe not, since this is supposed to be a tearjerker.

charleeene (Signed) on Jun 30, 2016 01:40 am (Chapter 16: Homecoming)
I wanted to cry after reading that Chris was crying too. Him and Lance are my favorites in this story (aside from Joey, of course) lol. You're really good at pulling heart strings haha

Author's Response: Thank you. I value sentimental men. It bugs me to no end when people act like men (and women, for that matter) aren't "supposed" to cry. I'm all, "Well, what are they supposed to do, then? How are they supposed to feel? How else are they gonna get it out?"

charleeene (Signed) on Jun 30, 2016 01:06 am (Chapter 14: Reaching Out)

Not overly sappy or preachy. Their immediate closeness warms my heart. I know it's just fan fiction but your portrayal of Joey makes me love him more lol

Great job, once again!

Author's Response: That's good! :D Then my time and work has been worthwhile.

charleeene (Signed) on Jun 30, 2016 12:57 am (Chapter 13: Cool Receptions)

Aww, I felt so sad for Sheri! They're all going through a lot but JC didn't even stop to consider that she was also a patient at the hospital who was going through a lot. She's also a fan too and a reception like that should've turned her off about JC but she still kept her cool.

I'm excited for when Joey goes to see her. She's the only one that really understands him at this point.

Author's Response: Yeah, you can't be too hard on any of the guys right now. Sheri's dealt with a lot worse, which is partly how she's able to keep her cool.

charleeene (Signed) on Jun 27, 2016 10:00 pm (Chapter 9: Unexpected Company)

Oh my gosh, this is such a wonderful story. I'm a huge Joey fan and this really gets to me. Sometimes I have to force myself to stop reading so that I can get up and do my errands lol.

My heart melted when Lance stepped up to help Joey shave the back of his head. I pictured it vividly and I wanted to cry! Such a great job with this. Bravo! (:

Author's Response: Thank you. This story's been on the back burner for some time but I promise to get back to it when I can. It WILL be finished, one day or another. Thanks for stopping by and for the lovely review.

Aww, this chapter put a huge smile on my face I really enjoyed it.

Author's Response: I'm glad. :)

Oh yes they did! WOW! That beach house sounds AWESOME, so glad that the guys and everyone else who pitched in to make this happen..so glad that most of her old friends were there too, AWW! Old friends are the best, I still keep in touch with some of my friends from HS, others..they just drifted. But now, I have new found friends too..

But anways, also glad that those two weirdos who didn't wanna stay there, left..good riddance, who needs them.

Overall, this was a GREAT chapter! LOVED IT! Glad that things are going well for you, and things are going well me on this end... :D

Thanks for the update! :)

Author's Response:

That's about as generous as it's possible for a person to get. That's two things off Sheri's bucket list right there. Obviously, these aren't all the friends Sheri ever had, but it's definitely the majority, as well as some of the gang who knew her the longest and the best.

I thought it would add some realism if not everyone who was there had come purely from the goodness of their hearts. But at least we have the assurance that most of them really did want to be there and did everything possible to make it.

Okay so I've been sitting and reading this for the past three hours. When I started it I knew right away what illness Joey had but even so you took this story in a few different directions than I expected. I really loved the scene near the beginning of the story where Joey takes a preemptive strike with his hair and cuts it before cancer makes him have to do it. It was a great scene. Thanks for sharing this story with us and I hope you write more soon! I love it!

Author's Response:

Well, there are definitely worse ways to spend three hours! I did my best to provide twists and turns, to make sure you didn't see everything coming a mile away.

Thanks for sticking around, and I definitely plan on writing some more as soon as time permits...and I know how to get my ideas down properly on paper.

anonymous (Anonymous) on Aug 09, 2015 06:48 pm (Chapter 33: The Big Plan)
why is this chapter so short? you should have longer chapters.....yeah....

Author's Response: The lengths of chapters vary. And I value quality over quantity.

AceofSpades (Anonymous) on Aug 03, 2015 12:14 pm (Chapter 33: The Big Plan)
Can't wait to see what the plan is. Update when you can.

Author's Response: Will do.

theusagirl (Signed) on Aug 02, 2015 09:53 pm (Chapter 33: The Big Plan)

OMG What's the plan?! :D Tell me guys!

These lines here:  One by one, the others joined them, until all five men were tangled in one big group hug. They stayed like that for a good five minutes or so, and when they did release each other and step back, Chris suggested to JC, “What do you say to a round of hot chocolate?”

AWW its the brotherhood these guys have! So glad they are all on good terms now..yay! :D

Looking forward to the next chapter...thanks for the update! :)

Author's Response: That's what the next chapter is for, duh. :P And yes, I believe these boys have been estranged long enough.

AceofSpades (Signed) on Jul 28, 2015 11:51 am (Chapter 32: Coming Clean)

Ooooooh, I don't like Jake. That is such a mean thing to do. But, I loved that whole scene with JC and Joey. It was great to read and put a smile on my face.

This line on the other hand--“I never felt so helpless in all my life, and I hated every single minute of it.”--just about broke my heart.

Great chapter.

Author's Response:

That was cruel. And unfortunately, it happens a lot in the real world. No wonder JC was so harsh on Sheri, even though he was a little too hasty. It's hard to see people as they really are, and your heart is always at risk. Fortunately, in Sheri's case, it's a good investment, and the only downside of meeting her is that there isn't more time to spend with her.

We all hate feeling helpless, but there comes a time when there simply isn't anything we can do about a situation. There certainly wasn't anything I could do about my dad's death at all, and goodness knows I hated it.

theusagirl (Signed) on Jul 27, 2015 10:35 pm (Chapter 32: Coming Clean)

WHAT THE HELL JAKE! LET ME PUNCH YOU! I have a punching bag in my attic! LOL How sad that he used Lisa, I hate when people use other people..absolutely hate it, I remember this quote, this is slightly off topic, but a quote from the movie "Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey..." when Chance the dog, who is voiced by Michael J. Fox(who I LOVE dearly) he said. "People use you, and lose you, they love you and they dump you..."

Now, there are many good people in this world, you just gotta know who to trust, and not give your heart too fast, use your mind first, take things slow, and communication is key... :)

Lastly, I'm SO glad that JC was able to pour his heart out to Joey, that is what was bugging him this whole time, I wanna hug JC now..LOL

Excellent job on this chapter, thanks for all the updates! :D

Author's Response:

Believe it or not, the idea for Jake came quite recently. I was going to have JC just be jealous and mention the stories he'd heard about real people taking advantage of others. Then I decided, "Why not make it more personal for JC?" So I started thinking of a scenario in which someone JC knew and got along with well (who turned out to be his own family) and he saw firsthand how someone took advantage of her in the worst way.

Of course, it was unfair for JC to be so swift to assume that Sheri would hurt Joey the way Jake hurt Lisa; on the other hand, you can't totally blame JC for thinking that. Then, as JC said, even if Sheri didn't mean any real harm, a part of him still took it out on her because he couldn't get even with Jake, so she became a sort of scapegoat.

It's hard to judge people fairly. You never know who may be a total scumbag or the dearest friend you could ask for.

theusagirl (Signed) on Jul 27, 2015 10:15 pm (Chapter 31: One More Song)

HA! JC was THERE! I KNEW it! :D Was he watching Sheri sing?? Cause I know that JC can be so stubborn when he doesn't want to admit that he's wrong..

AHH! This is getting good! *reads next chapter* :D

Author's Response: The next chapter will tell all.
