Well my friend I'm a huge Mexican food fanatic and I wanted to be in the story eating tacos. I love all your descriptives and just the chapter in general. Great job!

Author's Response: I always like to go into a little extra detail about food when I can. I can see myself working with food if I wasn't writng or drawing.

i love that JC is the voice of reason and that Chris is having real feelings. It's a sweet story, Mel!

Author's Response: JC always appeared to be the voice of reason in the group. Thanks, love.

Chris to the rescue. d84;a039;💕 And a taco night. Win win

Author's Response: Thank you. I can't remember where I read it but I remember him saying he liked all kinds of tacos so it wasn't hard to satisfy him. And the tacos Jamie mentioned are based on a real recipe I found online.

Very nice. I love how you let the drama trickle out.

Author's Response: Thank you. That's a big tip I learned in my writing classes.

DiamondDoss (Signed) on May 22, 2016 04:03 pm (Chapter 15: She's Out of My Life)
Very nice chapter! Of course the King of Pop playing made it *that* much better. I feel so bad for my Topher. Hopefully he will figure out what is going on. Good to see you back, Mel. :)

Author's Response:

Very short scene, but very creepy. Wasn't planning on making this into a suspenseful story but I realized it would add nicely to the drama and excitement and it saves the story from being your typical cheesy love story. Not that this story won't have plenty of fuzzy romantic scenes later, of course! I would still put it under the "romance" category.

These lines here:

“We saved you some supper,” said Joey, who, for some odd reason, had a flowered dishtowel tucked into his belt.

LOL I can see Joey totally wearing that..

This chapter was short and sweet at the beginning, but glad that Justin gave Allie a piece of his mind.

Thanks for the update... :)

Author's Response: I believe you could get Joey to do just about anything without shame. And Justin very ingeniously dismissed Allie (at least for that night) while giving her a few subtle slams.

DiamondDoss (Signed) on Aug 31, 2015 09:28 pm (Chapter 14: Smooth Talk)
Loved this chapter. Yay, a dinner "date" of sorts. And Allie just needs to wander off and forget she has Chris's number. And Justin..yes, I can see Justin or Joey lying through their teeth and being okay with it, at least when called for.

Author's Response: It's just a matter of when, not if. ;) Chris could easily change his number; problem is, he needs Allie's calls as "evidence," just in case, and now Jamie has access to that number and he doesn't want to cut her off, and imagine him trying to explain the reason for changing his number! All five guys are guilty of the sin of lying, but I'd say Joey or Justin would be the most suitable for this job. Plus, I decided to poke a little fun at Justin.

AceofSpades (Signed) on Aug 31, 2015 10:08 am (Chapter 14: Smooth Talk)

I was laughing soooo hard at this part:

Joey had an idea. “If she does call again,” he told Justin, “you take the call.”

“Why me?”

“Because you’re the smoothest liar out of all of us. If anyone can talk to Allie without sounding too suspicious, you can.”

Justin’s face darkened. “Is that supposed to be a compliment or an insult?”

With a serene smile, Joey replied, “Both. It’s an insult-iment.”

“Well, hardy-har-har.”

I could easily see them doing that. Yeah, I remember hearing that Lance is the worst liar and I liked how you incorporated that into this. Can't wait for more.

Author's Response: I made myself laugh with that part, too. I also got a laugh out of Justin's talk with Allie. I could totally hear the sarcasm in his voice.

theusagirl (Signed) on Aug 29, 2015 11:11 pm (Chapter 12: Friend Zone)

Ooh Friendly's! Though they closed the one here cause everybody stopped going, but we do have the Friendly's ice cream available at supermarkets, the supermarket I go to always have it on sale from time to time..its FANTASTIC, I start buying sprinkles and chocolate syrup and whipped cream, and start having an ice cream party at home.. :D

Ok, enough about ice cream..lolz

So glad that Chris called Jamie back! YAY! Looking forward for their friendship get-togetherness.

Oh and this title, is named "Friend Zone" reminds me of a line from the movie "Are We There Yet??" When the guy over the loudspeaker said to Nick.. "This is the No Friend Zone, please unload your friend, and get on with your life..." LOL Random I know..

This is getting good, reading more! :D

Author's Response:

I've never been to Friendly's, but it sounds nice. Then again, I'm not picky about ice cream. As long as it's chocolate, let me have it!

I called this thing "Friend Zone" mainly because I couldn't think of anything else to call it. Believe me, titles can give you every bit as much grief as the story itself, if not more.

I have a pretty good singing voice, I play piano by ear, and the drums as hobbies, I choose not to sing professionally cause I don't like dealing with competition, and the music that's out today, is not that great, some of them lost that magic touch, I'm sorta stuck in a time warp listening to 80s, 90s and early 00s kinda of music, songs that have MEANING.

Love that Chris and Jamie had such a nice time at "Friendly's" great updates! Looking forward for more! :D

Oh and feel free to look at some of my random singing/piano covers on my profile.. :) Thankies...

Author's Response:

I don't have much of a voice myself, and I couldn't invent a tune to save humanity. I'm more of the lyricist type, and even then it's easier to write the lyrics when I've got a working tune.

Some of the music they play nowadays is okay, but I'm partial to the music I grew up with.

theusagirl (Signed) on Aug 28, 2015 09:25 pm (Chapter 11: Deliberation)

Exactly, there are some manipulative men and women out there, that take total control over their partner, it is ridiculous! And if they have kids of their own, they start taking total control of their children and manipulating THEM, its a crazy society, but its the people that make the society crazy, not society alone. Sometimes some couples cling to the other either for profit, fame, or they just wanna "look good" beside them, then they start flipping like tarantulas and show their dark side, HOW FREAKIN SAD! Best thing to do, is you can't change those people, they gotta change themselves, and if they don't want to, then forget about it...we can only help those that need to be helped, we can't help everyone...

Good chapter though, glad that Chris and the guys managed to speak about Allie's creepy voicemail...

*reads next chapter*

Author's Response: This makes me think of that girl from the "Bye Bye Bye" music video, the one who was chasing the guys all over the place and manipulating their puppet strings. Most of the time, you envision a guy stalking a girl, but rarely do you see it the other way around.

theusagirl (Signed) on Aug 28, 2015 09:12 pm (Chapter 10: Emotional Blackmail)

What the heck Allie?? You don't have to go THAT far, JEEZ! That's like psychotic mode, emotionally disturbed is RIGHT.

There are some people that are very manipulative and use mind control and put words in people's mouths just so they can get to that particular person; they would use everything in their power just to get to them, that is just freakin crazy...

On a lighter note, glad that Joey did bring the phone over to Chris to listen to the voicemail messages, including Jamie's...

Gonna read the next chapter, so i can know what happens next... :)

Author's Response: That's the only thing that can really grab Chris's attention when he goes out of his way to avoid Allie and deletes her messages without listening to them all the way. That's why I had Joey bring the message to him, and as the story says, you know it's a big deal when it's got Joey so worried. Also, had it not been for Joey, Chris likely would have never known that Jamie had called him at all.

theusagirl (Signed) on Aug 28, 2015 09:03 pm (Chapter 9: Making the Connection)

Go listen to that voicemail Chris!

Short and sweet chapter, I'll go read the next one... :)

Author's Response: Oh, he will, most assuredly. I took some creative liberties with his voicemail; I wonder if he's aware that putting "bye-bye-bye" on his voicemail was a dead giveaway to Jamie. Then again, she already knows anyway.

AceofSpades (Signed) on Aug 27, 2015 10:26 pm (Chapter 13: A Sweet Deal)
Ok, finally caught up. That graham cracker pizza sounds so good. Suddenly I'm in the mood for s'mores. haha. Great chapter

Author's Response: I love marshmallows, but they fill me up pretty quick. I'd like to try my hand at a graham cracker pizza with Nutella sometime.

DiamondDoss (Signed) on Aug 24, 2015 09:19 pm (Chapter 13: A Sweet Deal)
“Honey, music is my life. Everything else is just gravy.”

Okay let's try this review again. I had to catch up, my apologies for not reviewing every chapter. I loved this chapter! It was lighthearted and fun. I prefer hugs as well. I can't wait to see where you take this.

I hope Chris and Jamie can make time to be friends and possibly more. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Author's Response: I thought this chapter provided a nice balance with the other more serious chapters. This story's going to have a bit of it all: comedy, drama, suspense, and (obviously) romance. I think people can see what will become of Chris and Jamie a mile away, but they're probably still curious about how it comes out, what happens to them along the way.
