About NSyncFiction.com (aka the NSync Fiction Archive)
This is an automated archive site for NSync fan fiction, a fandom that's been around for more than seven years. The purpose of this site is to unite the classic favorites with the "newbies" on an even ground. It even aids those authors that are no longer interested in running a site, but wish to keep their stories around for their readers and fans.

Log In & Registration
At the moment, "log in" is needed for authors only. If you wish to add your stories you must register first, and registration is free. If you wish to keep track of when author's update, or keep a list for your favorite stories, or review without being "anonymous" you may register to become a "member".

Adding a new story / chapter
After your register and log in, you will be taken to your account page. If you are going to host your story here I first recommend you click on "Edit Personal Information" and check the "Carry Over Chapter Info" box. Next click on "Add New Story", to continue on you must select a category first. After filling in all the required information, click "preview" to assure everything is ok, then "add story".

When adding a chapter, click "Add New Chapter" then "Add Chapter" under Options of which story it will go under. This takes you to a page similar to the Add story page. Fill in the required fields as before.

Ratings & Warnings
These are to steer readers in the right direction. Please use the ratings and warnings appropriately. I believe the Warnings are self explanatory but if you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

PG & PG-13: All language and situations are suitable for readers of all ages (13 and over).
R: May contain adult language, sexual situations, violence, drug/alcohol abuse... etc. May not be suitable for readers younger than 18.
NC-17: May contain nude content... strong, explicit sexual situations (aka. smut, erotica) and may not be suitable for readers younger than 17.

Characters (Het & Slash)
Since this is a NSync fiction archive, the names listed under Het Characters are Justin, Chris, Joey, Lance and JC. There is also the option of Group and Unknown (if the character of the story is meant to be a "surprise" or "mystery"). Under Slash, the characters list are all known pairings with the additional choice of Other in the situation of a "crossover" story.

Password / Log In problems
There are only two commonly known problems with logging in that I am aware of. If you never received your email with your password, you may have entered your email address wrong. Many times, authors just signed up again with a new pen name. Please do not do this, lol! Just send us an email with your penname and we'll fix the problem asap! :)

This is a big one... your penname must be more than 3 letters/numbers ... NO SYMBOLS!

Another, if you enter your information correctly and it says that your password is not found in the database... go to your Control Panel > Internet Options and delete your Cookies and Temporary Internet Files. After that click Settings and under "Check for newer versions of stored pages" select "every visit to the page". Hopefully that problems will be resolved when the newer version of the script is released. If you're still having problems, feel free to contact us.

01. Do I really have to register?
Registration is free and is needed if you wish to post your stories, keep track of when stories you're reading are updated, and review without being "anonymous".

02. Do I have to be "approved" to have my story(s) listed?
No. This is an archive for all NSync fiction so all authors are welcomed. But all stories and authors are monitored, so if given a valid reason you can be removed.

03. How many of my stories may I host here?
There is no story limit, the more the merrier.

04. How can I post the link to my story, and not the actual text?
After filling out all the required information on the "Add New Story" form, you can place the url link in the Story Text field. You can also use the < a > code so the reader can simply click on it and not copy and paste the link to their browser.

05. I have some crossover stories, are those allowed?
Yes they are, I ask that you note that somewhere (maybe in the summary) so the readers will know before hand.

06. What's "Alternate Universe" under genre?
A request by many authors, although A/U is not a "genre" it would be beneficial for readers to know if the story is A/U and for the author to let it be known. (A/U means its not of this reality, ex - JC's a lawyer and never became a part of NSync).

07. I don't have a "Chapter Title" for this story.
For now, that is a required field. I can not alter the script and its been promised that it will be changed in the newer version. For now just type in the Story Title again or something similar.

08. I want my character/pairing/plot to be a surprise, how can I do that?
I newly added "Unknown" under the Characters list. As for the plot, I'm sure there is a way to word it and leave it a mystery :)

09. My story is complete, but the archive keeps saying it isn't. How can I fix that?
Don't feel bad, is been overseen by many! On the Edit/Delete Stories page under Your Account, where it says "Complete: No" , click over the world no, and it will change to yes.

10. How does a story get "Featured"?
"Featured Stories" has been removed and replaced with "Story of the Moment" which is chosen at random. If "Featured Stories" returns, they are chosen by the admin and moderators. We like to let all authors have a moment in the spotlight so if your story hasn't be chosen yet, be patient and keep writing. Please do not contact us requesting your story to be "Featured".

11. I just registered and haven't received my password yet. Is something wrong?
Sometimes (mostly with AOL addresses) our emails are filtered to the 'Junk' folder. To prevent this, please add "archive@nsyncfiction.net" to your Safe List or Address Book. Also please give the server some time to send the email, often it is sent instantly but occasionally it my take longer. If you are still having trouble, contact us and with your penname and we will issue you a new password.

12. What do those stars mean next to the story title?
When a reader gives you a 'review', the option is given to them to rate your story from 1 to 10, 10 being the most positive score. The stars are a tally of the scores given, five stars is the highest rating.

13. I'm having problems finding a story, the search engine wont retain my preferences!
We are aware of that issue, and it has been noted by the script creator. She's working on a new version and hopefully the bug will be fixed. Once the new version is available, we will be upgrading! :)
