Chapter 1: Part One: Kelly's Story

Kelly watched him from across the room as he danced and kissed someone else. His hands that knew every inch of her body were now getting to know another’s pretty well as they moved on the dance floor. It had only been three weeks since Kelly threw him out of the apartment they had shared for the last eight months. She should be devastated to see him with someone else, but seeing him out on that dance floor only made her more sure of her decision. Her mind began to wander to the events that happened their last few weeks together.

What you see's not what you get
With you, there's just no measurement
No way to tell what's real from what isn't there

Your eyes, they sparkled
That’s all changed into lies
That drop like acid rain
You washed away the best of me
You don't care

~*~*~*~*~*~*Flashback*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

It was their eight month anniversary. Kelly decided to go all out for the occasion. She spent almost all of her tip money for the week on a brand new little black dress she was sure would drive him crazy. Their apartment was covered with candles, the scent of vanilla filling the air. She’d even ordered dinner from his favorite Italian restaurant. Everything was perfect. Kelly was sure a night of romance was just what they needed to get their relationships back on track. She’d noticed over the last couple of months that Justin seemed to be pulling away from her, spending more and more time at the office instead of quality time at home with her. She tried to be the understanding girlfriend and not worry about him, but deep down something was telling her something was terribly wrong. Kelly tried to shake it off, but those thoughts were always there, lurking in the back of her mind. She’d just finished lighting the last of the candles when the phone rang.

“Hello?”

“Hey Kel, it’s me.”

“What are you calling me for? I was expecting you to walk through the door in like five minutes.”

“That’s the thing, Kel. I have to pull an all nighter here at the office.”

“Justin Guarini, you better get your skinny butt home tonight! I mean it.”

“I’m sorry babe, but it can’t be helped. I’ve got to do some major number crunching for one of my clients.”

“Justin,” tears began to blur her vision. “I had plans for us tonight.”

“I really wish I could be there with you. Maybe we can do it tomorrow night,” he offered lamely. Kelly rolled her eyes in annoyance even though he wasn’t there to see her.

“You don’t even know do you?”

“Know what?”

“Nothing,” she whispered. “Talk to you later.”

“Alright, love you.”

“Yeah, you too” she began when she heard a click on the other end of the line. She set the phone down and looked around the room she had set so perfectly. She began to blow out the candles with a heavy heart. Kelly was really hoping tonight would be just what they needed, but more and more it felt as thought Justin didn’t want to get their relationship back to what it used to be. Suddenly an idea popped into her head. If he wasn’t coming home, she’d just bring their dinner to him. She quickly packed up the food and a bottle of wine and headed off to Justin’s office. Half an hour and two subway trains later, she was at his office. She rode the elevator up to the 23rd floor and made her way towards his office. On her way there, she was distracted by movement in the conference room. The lights were off, but you could see two shadows moving together. Kelly couldn’t believe her eyes; in fact, she almost laughed out loud. She began to back away from the door when she heard someone speak.

“Judy…” he moaned aloud. Kelly froze in her tracks. It was Justin’s voice. Her shock quickly melted away and was replaced by anger. She quickly flipped on the lights, surprising Justin and the woman he was with.

“Oops, I’m sorry. Did I interrupt something?”

“Kelly!” Justin exclaimed, his face bright red. “I can explain.”

“Go ahead Justin. Tell me why you were screwing someone else. I thought I was your girlfriend.”

“You are.”

“Wrong! I USED to be your girlfriend. You’re a good for nothing son of a bitch. Don’t bother coming home tonight,” Kelly began to walk out of the room. Justin scrambled to pull his clothes back on, forgetting the woman on the table.

“Wait, Kelly please.”

“What for? For you to come up with a good reason for you fucking someone else on our eight month anniversary. You know, I should have known something was going on. How long Justin? How long have you been cheating on me? Was I not good enough for you? What? What was it?!” She was yelling by the time she finished.

“I don’t know why. It just happened about two months ago. After it started, I didn’t know how to stop it. I guess part of me really didn’t want to stop it. It’s not that I don’t love you, Kelly because I do.”

“That’s supposed to make it all better?”

“No. I know it doesn’t make it any better. I just…can’t we talk about it. Does it have to be over?”

“Why would I want to stay with someone who I’m not enough for?” She looked over towards the woman who was still sitting on top of the table, her blouse wrapped around her small frame, her eyes wide in shock. Kelly set the bag of food and the bottle of wine on the table, “Here you go. You can both enjoy this. He usually gets hungry after…oh, but you know that already I’m sure.” Kelly turned to leave once more, but Justin grabbed her arm to stop her.

“Wait..” she quickly whirled around and slapped him so hard he stumbled back.

“Fuck you!” was all she said as she turned and walked away from him again.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*End Flashback*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

You know you did it
I'm gone
To find someone to live for in this world
There’s no light at the end of the tunnel tonight
Just a bridge that I gotta burn
You are wrong
If you think you can walk right through my door
That is just so you
Coming back when I've finally moved on
I'm already gone

Sometimes shattered, never open
Nothing matters when you're broken
That was me, whenever I was with you Always ending, always over
Back and forth, up and down, like a roller coaster
I am breaking that habit today

You know you did it
I'm gone
To find someone to live for in this world
There is no light at the end of the tunnel tonight
Just a bridge that I gotta burn
You are wrong
If you think you can walk right through my door
That is just so you
Coming back when I've finally moved on
I'm already gone

Once Kelly pulled herself from her thoughts, she said goodnight to her girlfriends and headed back to the apartment she now lived in alone. It was hard to get used to sleeping alone at first, but after the first week, things started to get a little easier.

After taking a quick shower, Kelly grabbed a blanket and settled down in her big armchair with a book. Not half an hour later, there was a knock at the door. She looked at the clock and it read 12am. She had no clue who would be stopping by at that hour. When she answered the door, she was surprised to see Justin standing there.

“Justin…what are you doing here?”

“I needed to talk to you. I saw you tonight at the club.”

“Yeah, I saw you too. I wasn’t sure if you saw me or not since you had your tongue jammed down that girl’s throat most of the time,” she bit back sarcastically. Justin looked down at his hands for a moment, then looked back up at her with his big brown eyes full of sorrow.

“I am so sorry Kelly, for everything I put you through. You didn’t deserve what I did to you.”

Kelly fought the emotions that were stirring inside of her. Part of her wanted to forgive him and let him come back, but the other part of her knew if she did it would be a mistake. “Is that all?” she whispered, her face blank.

“Well, I was hoping you’d be willing to give us another chance. I love you Kel, and I miss us.”

“You should have thought about that before you decided to sleep with someone else.”

“I know I made a mistake, but can’t be get through this?”

“We might be able to if I was willing to forgive you for what you did, but I can’t Justin. It’s just not in me to. You hurt me so badly, so bad that I thought I’d never want to fall in love again. But you know what, I’m not going to let you make me a bitter and cynical woman. I’m not going to give you that much power over me. I did love you, but I’m moving on to someone who will love me as much as I love them. When I find him, I know he won’t need anyone else but me to make him happy. I’d always be wondering if I was with you.”

Justin slowly nodded, finally understanding that things were really over between them. “If that’s the way you want it, I won’t try to change your mind anymore. Good luck Kelly. Whoever you do find will be a very lucky man.” He leaned forward and kissed her lips softly. Kelly had to bite back her tears.

“Thanks. Despite everything, I hope you finally find what you are looking for.” He gave her a sad smile, then walked away for the last time. Kelly shut the door and leaned back against it with a heavy heart. It was so hard for her to finally shut the door on her past with Justin, but deep inside she knew it was opening the door to her future.

There is nothing you can say
Sorry doesn't cut it babe
Take the hit and walk away
Cause I'm gone

Doesn’t matter what you do
It’s what you did that's hurting you
All I needed was the truth
Now I'm gone

What you see's not what you get
What you see's not what you get

You know you did it
I'm gone
To find someone to live for in this world
There’s no light at the end of the tunnel tonight
Just a bridge that I gotta burn
You are wrong
If you think you can walk right through my door
That's just so you
Coming back when I've finally moved on
I'm already gone
I'm already gone
Ooh, I'm already gone
Already gone
I'm gone

Chapter 2: Part Two: JC's Story

JC sat in his living room in the middle of the floor, still donning his classic black and white tuxedo, surrounded by hundreds of wedding gifts as he stared down at his engagement picture. Tears streamed down his cheeks, falling helplessly onto the glass frame. He lifted the bottle of champagne to his lips again, feeling the now warm liquid burn it’s way down his throat. Today was supposed to be the happiest day of his life. He was going to marry Lindsay, his high school sweetheart, the woman he’d loved since he was fifteen. JC thought everything was perfect. The wedding was planned, the invitations had been mailed, the caterer paid. Even as he stood with his best friends waiting for the ceremony to begin, he still had no idea what was going on in her mind.

We promised that we’d share our lives
And nothing could tear us apart
But I feel that something has gone wrong

I must try to find a way
To tell you what I want to say
That I feel that something has gone wrong

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*Flashback*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

JC stood at the other end of the aisle, waiting for his angel to walk towards him so they could be joined in marriage. Lindsay was everything he thought he wanted and needed in a woman. She was beautiful, successful, intelligent, funny, sexy as hell, she was perfect to him. As he stood proudly, waiting for her to come to him, you couldn’t keep the smile off his handsome face. This was it; the moment he had been waiting for for the last two years. Suddenly, instead of his love walking towards him down the aisle, he saw Lindsay’s sister Pam coming towards him instead. Her face was a mixture of worry and sadness all rolled into one.

“JC,” she whispered in a hurried voice.

“What are you doing here Pam? The wedding is about to start.” he whispered back.

“She’s gone.”

“What?” he asked, not sure he quite understood what she was saying. Tears were not falling from Pam’s soft green eyes, eyes so much like Lindsay’s.

“She’s gone. She asked us to leave her alone for a minute. When I came back to get her she was gone. I’m so sorry JC.”

“She’s gone…” JC said loud enough for the entire audience to hear. There was an audible gasp as JC calmly walked from the sanctuary.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*End Flashback*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I don’t feel the flame again
I don’t want to have to pretend
That I’m still in love with you

See me
Free me
Let me go

I will not promise you
The things that I can’t do
When I can’t afford to live in love that’s through

Forgive me I have sinned
I’ve made a broken dream
And this has to end
I hope you understand

JC was startled when he heard someone walk inside his house. He turned his teary gaze towards the door, surprised to see the woman who broke his heart. He let out a bitter laugh and looked away

“Look who finally decided to show up.”

“JC, please, let me explain.”

“Oh, please do,” he said as he took another long gulp of champagne before standing to face her a little shakily. “Please tell me when you decided to crush my heart in front of all of our friends and family. I’d like to hear it,” he never took his eyes off her as he drank once more. Lindsay looked away from him, almost unable to stand the hurt in his blue eyes that always looked upon her with such love. A single tear slipped down her cheek as she finally found the courage to meet his eyes.

“JC, we’ve been together since we were fifteen years old. Eleven years, JC. That’s how long we’ve been together. We were each other’s first everything, how do we know we are exactly what each other needs for the rest of our lives?”

“That’s not it and you know it. How long Lindsay? How long has it been since you stopped loving me?” JC asked, his eyes glistening with more tears. Lindsay didn’t want to have to admit to him that she no longer was in love with him, but she should have known he’d see right through her. After eleven years, you could read your partner like a book.

“About a year,” she managed to choke out. JC laughed softly.

“A year? Wow, how could I possibly have been so blind?”

“It has nothing to do with you…” she began, but JC cut her off.

“WRONG!” he yelled as he threw the champagne bottle into the fireplace. “It has every damned thing to do with me. Tell me what I said or did to make you stop loving me, Lindsay. I want to know what I did wrong.”

“You didn’t do anything wrong, JC. It just happened.”

“Oh, that explains it then. It just happened like magic right?” Lindsay didn’t say anything as tears continued to stream down her face. “I want you to tell me the truth Linds. Is there someone else?” Lindsay looked up at him with wide eyes full of surprise. She looked down at her hand that still wore his engagement ring and nodded slowly. “Bitch,” JC murmured angrily.

“I met him when I went out with my friends about six months ago. His name is Justin. He’s a stockbroker in Manhattan. He’s a really good man, JC. I don’t know if it will last, or if he’ll make me happy. The thing is I want to try.”

“Well, that’s obvious Lindsay.” He was quite for a moment, then spoke again, “I do have one more question for you. Do you think things would have been different if we hadn’t lost our baby last year?” Lindsay bit her bottom lip and looked back down at her hands again. JC eyed her confused for a moment, then realization finally hit him. He let out a choked sob, “No. Please tell me you didn’t.”

“I’m sorry JC, I just wasn’t ready to be a mother.”

“You…you had an abortion?” he asked, praying that she would deny it, but she nodded her head instead. “Oh my God, Lindsay! How could you do that?!”

“I couldn’t go through with it. I had realized I wasn’t in love with you anymore, and I just couldn’t have a child with you. You were just so happy and I didn’t want to hurt you that way. I didn’t want you to ever know what I had done.” JC angrily wiped fresh tears from his face.

“Get out. I never want to see your face again.”

“Please, JC…”

“No! I don’t want to hear anything else you have to say. You’ve never told me anything but lies. I don’t think you ever loved me. If you did, there was no way you could have done this to me.” Lindsay slowly removed the diamond from her hand and held it out to him. He looked down at it for a moment, then shook his head. “No, I don’t want it. Keep it. No, better yet sell it and go buy yourself a conscience.” He turned away from her. When he finally heard the door shut behind him, he collapsed to the floor and let his tears fall freely down his cheeks. He cried for everything he lost, especially the innocent child that was taken from him. He built his world around her, and now everything was broken and shattered all around him. JC didn’t know how to pick up the pieces, but he knew somehow he’d get through it and he would live again. Somehow he would.

I don’t feel the flame again
I don’t want to have to pretend
That I’m still in love with you

See me
Free me
Let me go

We promised that we’d share our lives
And nothing could tear us apart
But I feel that something has gone wrong…

Chapter 3: Part Three: Their Story

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*One Year Later*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

JC entered a diner just off Broadway. It was around 9am on a beautiful Saturday morning in New York City. For the last month or so, he’d been coming to this very diner every Saturday morning for breakfast. Almost every Saturday he saw her there. She was almost always there any time he passed. She was always bright and cheerful every time he saw her, but he couldn’t help but wonder who or what caused the sadness that always lurked just beneath the surface of her bright hazel eyes. He walked in and took a seat at his usual booth.

She looked up from the counter when she heard the door open and smiled brightly when she saw him come in. For the last month or so, he was always here on Saturday mornings. He always ordered the same breakfast while he read the New York Times. Of course anyone would be blind not to see just how attractive he was. When he first started coming in, his dark brown hair was about shoulder length and cut kind of choppy. Since then, he’d decided to change the style, opting for the clean-cut look. His blue eyes always sparkled when he smiled, but like her own they always held just a hint of sadness. She grabbed a fresh pot of coffee and headed to his table.

“Good morning,” she smiled down at him as she poured his coffee. “How are you this morning?”

“I’m good,” he smiled back. She had the cutest accent. “How are you?”

“Oh,” Kelly sighed. “I’m hanging in there. I’m pretty tired from all the shifts I’ve been working lately.”

“I bet. Every time I pass by here I see you. I bet your husband doesn’t like you working so much.”

Kelly laughed, “I’m not married.”

“Oh, well your boyfriend then.”

“Nope, I don’t have one of those at the moment either.”

“I’m sorry,” he laughed nervously. “I haven’t had much luck in that department either. Last night I went out with someone one of my coworkers set me up with.” JC shuttered visibly, “It was horrible.”

Kelly laughed again, “I can imagine. I hate blind dates. My friends are always trying to set me up too.”

“It’s really disheartening. It makes you wonder if you’re ever going to find that one, you know?”

“Of course, but you can’t give up. You never know when you’re going to meet that right person. She could be someone you pass on the street or in an elevator. You just never know.”

JC smiled, “I suppose you’re right.” Kelly looked over and saw she was getting an evil look from her boss.

“I guess I better take your order. My boss is giving me an evil look and she’s always looking for me to make a mistake so she can get rid of me.” JC looked over his shoulder towards the woman she was talking about. “Don’t look!” JC laughed at her.

“She’s probably just jealous.”

“Of what?” she asked, confused.

“Because you’re much prettier than she is. You probably make a lot more in tips than she does.” Kelly blushed.

“That’s sweet of you to say. Thank you,” she smiled bashfully. “So, will it be your usual this morning?”

“I have a usual?”

Kelly laughed, “You order the same breakfast every time you come in here.”

“You remember every customer you wait on?”

“Not every one,” she said quietly as she took his order.

At a diner down on Broadway they make small talk,
When she brings his eggs and fills his coffee cup,
He jokes about his love life,
And tells her he's about ready to give up,
That's when she says "I've been there before,
But keep on looking cause maybe who you're looking for is"

Somebody in the next car
Somebody on the morning train
Somebody in the coffee shop that you walk right by everyday
Somebody that you look at but never really see
Somewhere out there is somebody

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

After he ate his breakfast and said goodbye to the kind waitress, he made his way back to his apartment building. He climbed into the elevator and pressed the button for his floor when suddenly a hand appeared out of no where and the elevator doors opened once again. He recognized her right away as the beautiful blonde haired, blue eyed neighbor from a couple of floors up. She gave him a shy smile as she stepped inside.

“Hi,” she said as she pressed the button for her floor.

“Good morning,” he smiled down at her. Suddenly he remembered the words of the waitress. Maybe she was right. You never know when you’re going to run into the one that you are meant to be with for the rest of your life. He looked over at his pretty neighbor and smiled when he saw she was looking at him from the corner of her eye. He smiled again, “I don’t believe we’ve ever been introduced, but I’m JC Chasez. I live on the 10th floor.” He extended his hand and was relieved when she took it with a smile.

“Hi, I’m Andrea Martin from the 12th floor. It’s nice to meet you.”

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Across town in a crowded elevator
He can't forget the things that waitress said
He usually reads the paper
But today he reads a strangers face instead
It's that blue eyed girl from two floors up
Maybe she's the one,
Maybe he could fall in love with

Somebody in the next car
Somebody on the morning train
Somebody in the coffee shop that you walk right by everyday
Somebody that you look at but never really see
Somewhere out there is somebody

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

JC and Andrea dated for a few weeks, but it really didn’t take them long to realize what was between them wasn’t meant to last. They parted amicably, but JC was disappointed that he was once again left alone. For the first time in a month, he decided to head back to that diner off Broadway for the Saturday breakfast he missed.

Kelly sat behind the counter, waiting for her order. She tried not to think about the fact that it was another Saturday without him, but she couldn’t help it. She hadn’t seen him in over a month, and every time the door opened, she couldn’t help but look to see if it was him finally walking back through those doors.

“Order up, Kel” the cook called from the kitchen. She quickly picked up the plates and headed out to the floor to give the customers their breakfast.

“Here you go,” she smiled as she sat down their plates in front of them. “Let me know if you need anything.” She stopped at the next table over to pick up the dirty plates from her last customer. Her mind was on her work, so she didn’t hear the door open. He smiled when he saw her cleaning off one of her tables. He started towards her when she stood to walk back behind the counter with three dirty plates in her arms. Before she knew what was happening, she ran smack into someone, sending the dishes crashing to the floor. Her eyes never made it to the person’s face, she just saw a huge splatter of food all over their shirt and hurriedly began to wipe at it. “I’m so sorry, sir.” She finally looked up at him, and realized who it was. A smile slowly began to grow across her beautiful face. “It’s you.”

“It’s me,” he laughed as he took her towel and wiped the food splatter from her face. She blushed slightly, but her gaze never left his. In that moment as he looked down at her, he felt something stir deep within him. It was something he hadn’t felt in a very long time. Somehow in that instant he knew what it was that he saw when he looked into her beautiful hazel eyes. It was forever.

“I’m so sorry,” she finally said when she found her voice. “Please let me pay to have your shirt cleaned. It’s all my fault.”

“Please, Kelly.” She looked up at him surprised. It was the first time he actually called her by her name, and she liked the way it sounded coming from his lips. “Don’t worry about my shirt. It’s fine.”

“But it might be ruined…” she began when suddenly she heard her boss’ voice yelling at her from behind the counter.

“Kelly! What’s going on here?”

“I’m sorry Helen, I’ll pay for the damaged plates.”

“You’re damned right you will. I’ll take them out of your last check. You’re fired.”

“But Helen…” she began to protest but JC cut her off.

“You can’t fire her for this. It was an accident.”

“Oh I can’t? Who says?”

“I do. It’s not right and you know it.” JC continued to argue with the older woman. “Here,” he took out his wallet and handed her a $100 bill. “I’m sure this will more than cover the damaged dishes.” Helen quickly took the money from his hand and looked at Kelly with her cold eyes.

“Fine you can stay, but if this happens again you’re gone.” She quickly turned on her heels and headed back to the back of the diner. Kelly rolled her eyes and began to pick up the pieces of broken dishes.

“I’ll pay you back.”

“No you won’t. Please, I wanted to help you.”

“But why? You don’t even know me.” JC smiled as he helped her clean up her mess.

“Maybe that’s something we can change?” He extended his hand to her, “I’m JC Chasez.” Kelly smiled as she took his hand.

“Kelly Clarkson.”

“See, now we know each other.”

Kelly laughed, “I suppose so.” She threw the broken plates in the garbage and turned back to him. “So, will you be staying for breakfast Mr. Chasez?”

“Please, call me JC.”

“JC,” Kelly nodded with a smile. “Will you?”

“I think I might better head home to change. I don’t think blueberry pancakes flatter me all that much,” he joked at the huge stain on the front of his white t-shirt. Kelly tried to hide her disappointment.

“Okay, well I guess I’ll see you around.”

“How about tonight?”

“What? Are you asking me out?” she asked with a small smile.

“Yes I am. Will you go out with me?”

“Really?”

“Yes,” JC laughed. “Is it so hard to believe?”

“I’m sorry. It’s just been a while.”

“I find that hard to believe.”

“Why is that?”

“Because you’re beautiful, sweet, funny, intelligent. Those are pretty rare qualities to find all in one package.” Kelly blushed again. “Well, how about we meet here around 7pm tonight?”

Kelly thought about it for a moment, “Okay. I’ll see you tonight.”

“Great,” JC leaned forward and kissed her cheek softly. “See you tonight.”

“Bye,” she whispered as he left, her heart beating so fast she thought it might leap from her chest and run away from her.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

“…and that was it. Your mother and I fell madly in love with each other, got married, and had you.” JC smiled down at his five year old daughter, Sarah as he tickled her belly. She giggled uncontrollably as he continued to tickle her.

“What’s going on here?” Kelly asked as she entered her daughter’s room. “I thought Daddy was going to tuck you in.”

“He was telling me a story,” Sarah smiled up at her mother. Kelly sat on the other side of her bed.

“What story might that be?”

“Our story,” JC smiled lovingly at his wife, still amazed that he was able to find someone as perfect as her.

“Our story? Honey,” she looked down at her daughter. “Aren’t you tired of hearing that story?”

“No. I like hearing how you and Daddy met and fell in love.”

“Can I tell you a secret?” Kelly asked her daughter who nodded enthusiastically. “That’s my favorite story too,” she smiled as she leaned forward and kissed her daughter’s cheek. “Now, it’s time for you to get some sleep young lady.” She pulled her covers up, “Goodnight baby.”

“Goodnight Mommy, goodnight Daddy. I love you.”

“We love you too, sweetheart” JC kissed his daughter goodnight, then followed his wife out of her room. He followed her to their room where she was beginning to get undressed. JC wrapped his arms around her small waist from behind and placed a soft kiss on her shoulder. Kelly laughed softly, then turned around to face him. She kissed his lips softly before pulling away from him.

“It amazes me how wonderful she is. I think I fall more in love with her every day.”

“I know. She’s our angel.”

“I wonder if things will change.”

“Change? Change how?”

“When the new baby gets here…” she let her voice trail off as she looked into her husband’s shocked face. His shock slowly melted away and was replaced by pure happiness. He picked Kelly up off the ground and spun her around and around.

“Another baby?” Kelly nodded through her laughter. “Oh, Kelly. I love you so much.”

“I love you too Jace. More than anyone I’ve ever loved in my life.” JC pressed his lips to his wife’s. They tumbled back onto their bed to show each other just how much they loved each other, both happy that their broken roads had finally led them where they belonged…in each other’s arms.

Now they laugh about the moment that it happened
The moment they'd both missed until that day
When he saw his future in her eyes
Instead of just another friendly face
And he wonders why he searched so long
When she was always there at that diner waiting on

Somebody in the next car
Somebody on the morning train
Somebody in the coffee shop that you walk right by everyday
Somebody that you look at but never really see
Somewhere out there is somebody

Bless The Broken Road by: Rascal Flatts
The song that inspired this series.

I set out on a narrow way, many years ago
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushin' through
I couldn't see how every sign, pointed straight to you

That every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart, they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you

I think about the years I spent just passing through
I'd like to have the time I lost and give it back to you
But you just smile and take my hand
You've been there, you understand
It's all part of a grander plan, that is coming true

Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart, they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road

That led me straight to you

That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you
