Chapter 5

Back in her hotel room, Jen dialed Katie’s familiar number.

“Hello?” Katie asked into the phone.

“Hey girl, it’s Jen."

“Oh, hey! How’s it going out there on the road?”

“Not so good,” Jen replied.

“Why? What happened?”

“Well, Justin caught Britney cheating on him with Wade.”

“Oh, what a shame.” Katie clicked her tongue. “Let Justin know I’m sorry to hear that. I know how much he liked her. What did you say when he told you?”

“I just told him that she obviously wasn’t the girl for him. I mean, he’s only twenty-one. He has the rest of his life to find the right girl.”

“That’s true. But isn’t this the third girl to cheat on him?”

“Yep all of his girlfriends have cheated on him.” Jen felt sorry for him. “So Justin and I ended up sleeping together last night.”

“Oh my God, Jen, you had sex with Justin? You go girl!”

“NO, no, no - I did not have sex with him! And believe me, if I did lose my virginity, I would tell you.”

“Okay, just checking,” Katie laughed.

“Anyways, Justin told me that he needs a date to go to the American Music Awards with him and he asked me if I would go with him.”

“Wow, that’s awesome! You’ll have to tell me all about it.”

“Definitely. I said no at first because I was afraid that the press would think that I was his girlfriend, but I decided to go because he needed me to help him deal with the press.”

“That’s great that you’re going to support him. Did you get a dress yet? And when are the awards?”

“The awards are three weeks away and I have yet to buy a dress.”

“Oh wow. I’m going to come see you in a couple weeks, too, so that would be perfect. I could help you pick out a dress.”

“That would be awesome. I’m going with Justin’s mom, but I’m sure she wouldn’t mind if you came along. Anyways, listen Katie, I have to go now but I’ll talk to you soon.”

“Alright, bye, Jen.”

“Bye, girl.”

The guys and Jen were enjoying a nice breakfast the next morning. Everybody was content in eating their breakfast when JC spoke up. “So how are you holding up, Justin?”

“I’m alright,” he shrugged. “Guess who’s coming to the American music awards with me?” He nodded toward Jen with his head.

“Cool, you nervous?” Chris asks.

“Eh,” Jen shrugged. “Not too nervous.”
