So many times
I thought I held it in my hands
But just like grains of sand
Love slipped through my fingers
So many nights
I asked the Lord above
Please make e lucky in love
To find a love that lingers
Something keeps telling me
That you could be
My answered prayer
You must be Heaven sent
I swear

Something happens
When you look at me
I forget to speak
Something happens
When you kiss my mouth
My knees get so weak
Could it be true
This is what God
Has meant for me
‘Cause baby I can’t believe
That something like you
Could happen to me
Something like you

Justin stood at the front of the church, waiting for his bride to make her way down the aisle towards him. His best friends Lance, Joey, JC, and Chris stood beside him looking handsome in their tuxedoes. Justin never would have thought he’d be the first to get married, yet here he was in front of all of their family and friends ready to pledge his undying love to the one person who he loved more than anything. If you had asked him just a year ago if he thought he’d be getting married so soon he would have looked at you as if you were crazy. For the longest time, he thought he loved his best friend, JC’s girlfriend Kaela, but not long after another walked into his life, he realized what he felt for her wasn’t the type of love that lasts. What he had with his bride to be was the real thing. It was exactly what Chris had with Valerie, Jaimie had with Lance, Kaela and JC had, and Joey and Shannon shared. It was what he had spent his entire life looking for, yet he never found it. He couldn’t believe he was lucky enough to find someone like her.

~*~*~Flashback~*~*~

“Justin! Get your sexy little ass down here. There’s someone you should meet.” Jaimie yelled up the stairs of Lance’s house. They had all got together to throw a party after they got back from tour. Everyone was downstairs except for Justin. They all swore he took longer than any woman, primping in front of the mirror.

“Sexy little ass?!?” Lance asked her, his eyebrows quirked up in amusement.

“Your ass is much sexier baby I promise.” Jaimie grinned as she kissed his lips softly.

“Damn well better be.” he laughed as he pulled her towards him.

“It is. I swear.” Jaimie turned her face back up towards the staircase once more. “Justin!”

“I’m coming, I’m coming. Jeez, is she always this demanding Lance?”

“Ummm…” he began, but one look at Jaimie’s expression, he knew he better not answer that. “Um, Justin there’s someone we’d like you to meet.” he quickly changed the subject, leading him over to the fireplace where he noticed a girl he’d never seen before was standing. He could tell even from a distance that she was very well built. She had a small frame and stood about 5’7”, her long tanned legs were set off by the short lavender slip dress she wore. It hugged all of her curves in all the right places. She had shoulder length curly golden brown hair, yet he still had no clue what she looked like from the front. Her back was still turned as she talked with Shannon and Joey across the room.

“Thenie? I’d like you to meet Justin.” Jaimie smiled as they approached and her friend turned towards them. She smiled up at Justin and he felt his heart flutter slightly. He frowned for a moment in confusion before returning her smile. She was absolutely beautiful. Her curls framed her face perfectly, and her green eyes gleamed with mischief. “Justin this is my friend Athena. Thenie this is Justin. I think he’s the only one in the group you haven’t met yet.”

Athena offered her hand to Justin, “It’s nice to finally meet you Justin. I’ve heard a lot about all of you guys from Jaimie. She talks about you all the time.”

“Don’t believe a word of it. We really aren’t bad guys I swear.”

Athena laughed, “Oh it’s all good I promise.”

After a few moments, the others slowly filtered away from Justin and Athena, leaving them alone to get to know each other better. Athena couldn’t help but laugh after Lance and Jaimie left them.

“What?”

“Don’t you see what they are doing?”

Justin laughed, running his hand over his shaved head, “Yeah, it is kind of obvious. I’m sorry. They all feel kind of sorry for me since they all have great girlfriends. They just want me to be happy. I guess Jaimie feels the same about you since she dragged you into this.”

“Yeah, my love life has been pretty sad lately. What about you? You’re not seeing anyone I take it. It’s either that or they really don’t like the girl you are with if they are trying to set us up.”

“Um, well.….” Justin’s voice trailed off as he looked in the direction of JC and Kaela. Athena swore she thought she saw something flash in his eyes as he watched them together.

“Jus, are you like in love with your friend’s girl or something?” she asked bluntly.

Justin blushed furiously, “What makes you say that”

“It’s so obvious with the way you look at her. I don’t want to hurt your or anything, but from the looks of them I’d say you could never find anyone more in love than them two.”

“Yeah, believe me I know that more than anyone. I try not to think about her, but it’s hard you know.”

“I know what it’s like to love someone who doesn’t love you as more than a friend.” Athena’s heart went out to him. “I have an idea. They want us to hang out it’s obvious. Let’s play a little trick on them. Let’s pretend to be really into each other romantically. Not tonight of course, but the more we are around each other, we start to get closer until we are always together holding hands and stuff. Anytime any of them mention the other to us we have to act like we are really smitten with each other. What do you say?”

Justin grinned down at her; he truly liked the way she thought. “I say lets do it.”

From that point on, they were constantly with each other. What neither of them knew was that the more time they spent with each other, the more they began to like each other as more than a friend. Their brilliant plan was backfiring on them. About a month into their plan, they were outside playing a game of basketball when their feelings were finally admitted to.

Athena dribbled the ball, grinning at Justin’s serious expression on his handsome face. She quickly faked to the left, and then swung to the right to make the shot behind his back.

“YES! I win.” she grinned up at him, her hands raised triumphantly in the air. Justin looked at her as if he was really seeing her for the first time since they met over a month ago. Her curly brown hair was pulled up into a loose ponytail, her baggy shorts hung off her hips, and the t-shirt she wore showed off her tanned stomach. To him, he’d never seen anyone look sexier than she did at that very moment. “So, what do I win?” she continued to smile at him until she noticed how his expression never changed from the blank on he wore since she made her shot. “Jus, is something wrong?”

Justin’s expression never changed. He didn’t know how to tell her how he really felt about her. How could he? This had all been a plan from the start to fool all the others into thinking their little match making experiment worked. Yet it HAD worked. All too well. Justin had fallen for his new best friend. How would she react? He swallowed his fears and stepped to her. He was inches away from her as he continued to stare down at her blankly, noticing her confused expression on her beautiful face. He slowly encircled her small waist with one arm as he gently cupped her cheek with his other hand. His thumb slowly rubbed her lips before he brushed his lips across hers. The touch was brief, yet it sent shivers down Athena’s spine. This was so unexpected, yet she longed for this almost since the day she met him. Could she trust this though? Was he really over Kaela? For a moment she just let herself get lost in Justin’s arms as he kissed her lips softly. All too soon, he pulled away. She looked up at him, trying to hide the passion that burned in her eyes, yet there was no mistaking it.

“Wh….what was that for?” she asked breathlessly.

“I just suddenly realized how much I really cared about you. Something has happened between us in this last month Athy. Can’t you feel it?”

“Yes I did, but I was so afraid you still loved Kaela. I didn’t want to admit to what I felt for you and have you tell me you didn’t feel the same.” she finished, fighting the tears in her eyes.

“Oh, Ath. I realize now that what I felt for Kaela wasn’t real. I love her, but only as a friend. When I’m with you I feel more alive than I’ve ever felt before. I love YOU Athena Marie Sanders. You are the one I want to be with.”

Athena finally let her tears fall, “I love you too Justin. With all my heart.”

~*~*~End Flashback~*~*~

Girl in your eyes
I feel your fire burn
All your secrets
I will learn
Even if it takes forever
With you by my side
I can do anything
I don’t care
What tomorrow brings
As long as we’re together
My heart is telling me
That you could be
My meant to be
I know it more each time we touch
‘Cause

Something happens
When you look at me
I forget to speak
Something happens
When you kiss my mouth
My knees get so weak
Could it be true
This is what God
Has meant for me
‘Cause baby I can’t believe
That something like you
Could happen to me
Something like you

That was their story. Today there were ready to profess their love in front of all of their family and friends and take their vows to be husband and wife. Justin couldn’t help but thank God ever day for bringing the love of his life into his world. He honestly didn’t know what he would have done if she hadn’t saved him. As he watched her walk towards him, her beautiful off the shoulder, long sleeved, wedding gown. The corset bodice made her already slim waist even smaller, accenting her figure beautifully. It was so simple, yet so elegant. The most beautiful smile was on her face as she fought her tears. He could tell she was having trouble fighting them with the look in her eyes. Tears sprang to his eyes as well as she slipped her small, trembling hand in his as she reached him. He kissed it softly before they turned towards the priest, ready to take their vows and live the rest of their lives together forever.

Something magical
Something spiritual
Something stronger than
The two of us alone
Something physical
Something undeniable
Nothing like anything
That I’ve ever known
‘Cause

Something happens
When you look at me
I forget to speak
Something happens
When you kiss my mouth
My knees get so weak
Could it be true
This is what God
Has meant for me
‘Cause baby I can’t believe
That something like you
Could happen to me
Something like you

That something like you
Could happen to me
Something happened
Can’t believe that
You happened to me
