I hope your mom is still doing well. Poor Joey (I'm saying this a lot!) I've been there to witness family members receiving upsetting medical news, but I am certain that the feeling pales in significance to actually being the patient. I can't even imagine...

Author's Response:

Yeah, she is. She's passed that five-year mark, so I feel a little more reassured, but I still get jumpy now and then.

I couldn't say which is worse: being sick yourself or having someone you know and love being sick. I guess both situations are bad in their own way.

An hour later, Joey could be found simmering in the waiting room of the nearest hospital in the district. He sat as far on the edge of his chair as he could without falling off, his arms folded atop his knees, grumbling a steady stream of indistinct words to himself. On his left side, JC was quietly flipping through the latest issue of People and looking smug. Lance sat in the chair on Joey’s right side, toying with his phone, and Chris and Justin stood close by with Styrofoam cups of coffee.

I loved this short description, I could see it in my mind like the guys were sitting right here in my living rooom. Well if that wouldn't be something awesome. Anyway, I am so glad you are writing a Joey story. And yes, I agree about needing more Joey, Chris and Lance stories. I hope you will keep going on this, even thought it gives me a slight twinge in my stomach to think of what is coming next...even though it is just a story. Great job!!

Author's Response: Thank you. I believe in providing enough detail to give my readers a good idea of what's happening while leaving some room for imagination.

Oh no! How awful.. :(

Honestly I actually thought that Joey was iron deficient or something..

I hate it when doctors break the "news", its always so frightening, you don't know what to expect.

Author's Response: Don't I know it. You don't want to be left in suspense, but not knowing also serves as a sort of shield.
