About *Nsync-Fiction.com

A little history, if you will. Created on Apr 07, 2007... by the lovely Tia as a "temp" archive for the first archive on nsyncfiction.com (that was created in 2004 and went offline March 2007). After months with no recovery of the first archive, *Nsync-Fiction.com became known as the one and only...with a large following (over 1,000 members), permanently replacing the missing archive.

On August 08, 2008... Vikki restored nsyncfiction.com as nsyncfiction.net, bringing back all the missing, older stories and authors that weren't around to register at the new archive.

This sparked Tia's idea to retire, leaving *Nsync-Fiction.com up for grabs. Nikki and Brittany (of Tasting-Eden.com fame) agreed to take over. And Vikki agreed to host the new archive on NSyncFiction.net (and redirect the N-F.com URL) ... making the older archive "read-only".

Vikki stepped down in January 2011, leaving the sites in the capable hands of Heather and Miss M. Since then, Heather has recruited the newest admin, Whitney in August 2012.

    How to become Affiliates

*N-F.com welcomes any Nsync fiction or fan site as an affiliate, no jumping through hoops necessary but we do appreciate cookies. Any non-Nsync sites must be fan fiction or original fiction centered. If you don't have a 50X50 button/banner, we will create one for you and we expect you to link back to us as well. Also, you must have a working URL, and if it changes you should notify us as soon as you can. Broken links will be removed. Contact us with any questions and affiliation submissions.

Beta Readers: Become one. Get one.

There is a slim chance that while proofing your own story for spelling or grammar mistakes, you'd catch them all. Which is why God gave us beta readers. You can offer to become one by editing your bio page. To find a beta reader, click on the Authors page under the site navigation. There is a drop-down menu, click the down arrow and select beta-readers. There are many to choose from but remember, when contacting you are asking a favor, be polite and don't be offended if someone says no - they are not entitled to take any or all stories.

    Frequently Asked Questions:

    01. What kind of stories are allowed?

Any story about Nsync! Meaning Justin Timberlake, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, or JC Chasez must be a main character. Crossover Fics featuring other celebrities are also allowed, as well as Slash (which has its own categories). For more info please see our Submission Rules.

    02. How do I submit stories?

If you have not already done so, please register for an account. Once you've logged in, click on Account Information and choose Add Story. The form presented there will allow you to submit your story.

    03. How do I submit to a challenge?

To submit to one of our Challenges, you must first post your story as you normally would. After you've posted, navigate to the Challenges page and find the challenge you're trying to respond to. At the bottom of each challenge entry is a "Respond to the challenge!" button. If you click on that you will be directed to page that has a list of all of your stories on the archive. Choose your challenge story and then hit "submit"

    04. I forgot my password! What do I do now?

To recover a lost password, click here and enter the e-mail address with which you registered. Your password will be sent to you shortly. Be sure to add archive@nsync-fiction.com to your Safe List, Anti-Junk mail filter, etc.

    05. What are the ratings used on the site?

They're pretty basic and very common, but if explanation is needed...

PG & PG-13: All language and situations are suitable for readers of all ages (13 and over).
R: May contain adult language, sexual situations, violence, drug/alcohol abuse... etc. May not be suitable for readers younger than 18.
NC-17: May contain nude content... strong, explicit sexual situations (aka. smut, erotica) and may not be suitable for readers younger than 17.

    06. How do I add a picture / banner / graphic to my story page?

On your Account Info page, click Manage Images. Click Upload New Images and select the image you wanted to use.

Once the image is loaded to the site you will see the filename listed as well as the html code to use. Copy this code (using left click on your mouse, or highlight it and hold down CTRL and C on your keyboard).

*Note: If you're hosting your images someplace else, like Photobucket, you may follow these steps also.*

Edit your story page (large images are not allowed in the Summary. Please add them to your Story Notes section or on Chapter pages) and click insert/edit image text box that looks like this under the text box. Paste the code into the first box that says "IMAGE URL" and click ok.

The image should then appear in the text box. Click 'Preview' before 'Add Story' to be sure.

There is also a second way, but it may not work for some internet browsers (I use Internet Explorer).

On the 'Manage Images' page, click 'View'. With your mouse over the image, left click and select 'copy'.

Edit your story page and move your mouse in the text box you want the image to be in, and left-click, select 'paste' and the image should appear.

    07. How does a story, author, or review get "Featured"?

Featured Stories: Every 3 months the admins choose stories that they believe deserve some recognition. This could be based on various reasons, but reasons belonging to the moderator. We hope to make our way around the site, giving every exceptional story a moment in the spotlight. Want to be featured? Keep writing and give it your best! We'll find you!

Featured Author: Vikki accepts suggestions at the Unwritten site. Not all submissions will be chosen. Authors should be talented, prolific and have an exceptional style.

Featured Review: Selected periodically from any story that's Most Recent. Chosen reviews will highlight to visitors what the reader liked about the chapter or story and why.

    08. What happened to the Shout Box?

Its been removed. With the addition of new 'blocks' (such as Story Tags and Featured Review) I found the page was becoming too cluttered. If you wish to message the admins, post a comment on the most recent News posting or use the Contact Us page. We encourage members to remain a community though, so please take advantage of our affiliate Still Nsync Forums and make yourself at home with forums for each Nsync member, as well as Fiction, 'Chit Chat' for non-Nsync topics, and many more.

    09. My skin keeps changing back to default! How do I keep the one I want?

Whichever skin you choose on the main page (drop down menu) is only temporary. To make your choice more permanent, go to Your Account > Edit Preferences and save it there.

    10. How come I'm not getting any update emails about my Favorite stories or authors?

Did you register yet? That's first! Then visit Your Account > Edit Preferences and make sure the boxes are checked. If you're still not receiving the emails, make sure archive@nsync-fiction.com is added to your Safe List, Anti-Junk mail filter, etc.

    11. Will you email me when something is wrong with the site?

You personally? No. But we have an emailing list with Google Groups (you do not need a google email) that you may join. Its moderated, only the admins send out emails. Emails are sent to the group whenever there are problems with the archive and also once a month, like a newsletter.

    12. I'm looking for a story about (insert details here)...

If you don't remember the author or title, I probably can't help you. Feel free to ask on twitter (@nsyncfiction) and we'll retweet and hopefully some other members will come to your rescue.

    13. I think my story (or this story I'm reading) was plagiarized! How do I know for sure?

First, good question! If its word-for-word identical, please hit the [Report This] on the story or chapter page. It would be super helpful for you to provide the link and section/chapter of the offended story as well. If you are unsure (similar story line, similar characters, very "too close for comfort" kinda thing) please contact us before you do anything. Most of the time we can take care of everything very quietly and discreetly, and you'd be surprised at how unknowing the "plagiarizer" is that they did something wrong.

    14. How do I make (or get) a banner for my story?

You would start with a graphics program, something like Photo Shop or Paint Shop Pro. I know a lot of computers come with Paint, but it sucks lol! If you're new to graphic design, I'm no expert so first try google... there are many tutorials out there. A lot of authors borrow female celebrities as their leading ladies, but you can also try googling female model sites for pictures too. If you'd like to request a banner be made for you, Vikki is known to lend her services. But sometimes she's got a full plate so you may want to try posting a topic at the message board and see if anyone else is willing and available.

    15. What's a round robin? How does it work?

Round robin are stories in which an author posts the beginning of a story then other authors are encouraged to add to it. When adding a story to the site, check "round robin" option box. This will allow any author to add chapters to your story. This is a fun way to write a story and very interactive for the archive.

    16. How do I add story tags? Can I only add them to my stories?

The story tag box is at the very bottom of the chapter pages, below the Review box. Since this is a very new feature, I find it okay for all authors and members to help the list grow by tagging any story, whether they wrote it or not. If any authors have a problem with a particular tag on their story, please contact us and will we remove or edit it. [Tags not allowed: genres (drama, romance, angst, etc), character names (fictional or Justin, Chris, Joey, Lance, and JC), pennames or author names - there are other ways to search with this info and therefore does not need to be a tag.]
