I feel like a giant dork because as SOON as I saw the beginning of those lyrics, I immediately went and played the song. It is my absolute favorite Whitney song. However, it's the perfect song to explain the current situation of JC and Charlie's relationship. Brilliant. It was a sweet moment. He let her into his safe haven and welcomed her by allowing her to partake in what made it his safe haven.
I think I'm getting a feel for Charlie's secret, but I can't seem to wrap my head around why she thinks JC would end the relationship with her because of it. Maybe it's not what I think it is after all....
Random, but I love the description of the interior of JC's home. I'm HGTV TRASH and I was just like, 'YASSS HIGH CEILINGS WITH BEAMS! THE ISLAND AND STAINLESS STEEL!', lol.
Can't wait for the next update!

Author's Response:

Well if you are a ginat dork then so am I.  LOL.  I am a ture believer that you can tell your life story through a series of songs.  I think director Cameron Crowe is a genius because of the way he takes amazing songs and strings them together in his movies to tell the story of the characters.  Anyway, I went off on a tangent.  I agree that the Whitney song describes Charlie and how she tries to put on tough front but inside she suffers from so much insecurity.

I think I have dropped enough breadcrumbs throughout the story to show most of what she's hiding.  Now it's a matter of her spilling it all the JC and how he will react.  Can he handle someone so broken from their past?

I too love HGTV which is probably why I got super descriptive on the interior.  LOL.
