Silver Lining

Have you ever formulated a plan in your head perfectly, only to have it fall to shambles the moment you try to put it into action? Well, I guess this is one of those times. . .

"Tiffany!" I called with a tone of annoyance. Within seconds her petite frame innocently swaggered into the room.

"What is it?" she asked as she stood at the door. I narrowed my eyes as I got a primal urge to attack her.

"What happened to my black boots?" Her face flattered guiltily. I watched as her eyes fell to the floor while she nervously fiddled with her fingers.

"I don't know," Liar, "I mean. . . where did you have them last?" I picked up an empty shoe box.

"In here," I shook the box, "I didn't even wear them yet." She began to twirl her hair with her fingers.

"Maybe they got tired of waiting to be worn and decided to walk off somewhere. . ." Did she want me to kill her?

"Or maybe some shoe-thieving roomie of mine took them," She shrugged.

"Maybe. . ."

"Tiffany!" I yelled impatiently, "Why did you take them?"

"I'm sorry," she apologized, "But Scott was going to this really hot club and they went perfectly with my outfit. . ."

"Why didn't you ask me to burrow them first?" I hated when people took my things without permission.

"You weren't home and. . ."

"It doesn't matter, Tiffany," I stated calmly, "Just give them to me."

"I kinda. . .well. . . broke the heel." If looks could kill. . .

"Tiffany, you've got to be kidding me," I sighed with a roll of my eyes, "Justin is picking me up any minute now. Those were the only shoes that went with my outfit." Her face crumpled into a pout.

"I'm sorry, maybe we can get you some other shoes," she said enthusiastically, "There's a store by Java Juice that sell. . ."

The doorbell interrupted her and I groaned at the madness. I ran downstairs and opened the door. Justin stood in front of me, somewhat wet from the rain, in a baby blue polo shirt and navy slacks.

"Hey," he greeted as he kissed my cheek, "You ready yet?" I rolled my eyes and ushered him into the apartment.

"No, Tiffany destroyed my boots," I whined. Justin shrugged.

"Can't you put something else on?" He said it like it was no big deal, but it was a big deal. A huge deal.

"No," I whined, "Unlike you, I don't own a billion pairs of shoes."

"I do not own a billion pairs of shoes," Justin protested, "Only five hundred." I waved him off and made my way down the narrow hall to my bedroom.

"Here," I jumped, slightly startled by Tiffany.

"What?" I asked as I looked down at her hands.

"These go with your outfit," There in her hand were her precious pair of Manolo's boots. No one, I mean NO ONE, touched them.

"Are you serious?" She looked at me unsure.

"As long as you don't hurt my babies, I'm sure." I smiled and accepted the cute pair of boots.

"Thank you," I said softly as I hurriedly put them on.

"Let's go, Sexy!" Justin called, "We're gonna be late!"

"I'm coming!" I shouted back. I could hear the pervert giggle from the living room as I rolled my eyes.

"Tell him to keep that mind of his out of the gutter," Tiffany told me jokingly. I smiled and nodded.

"Sure, right after I tell him the 'L' word," She squealed excitedly.

"I'm so glad that you're telling him," I laughed nervously.

"I'm scared though," She nodded.

"I know, but it's gonna be worth it, Hun." I nodded in agreement before we embraced briefly. I told Tiffany not to wait up for me as I made my way to Justin. He was already standing by the door. I grabbed a giant umbrella and gave Bosco a goodbye.

Justin held the door open for me and said goodbye to Tiffany with a hug. We made our way to the elevator, hand in hand, as we chatted about miscellaneous things. Justin opened the door to his black Escalade and I hopped in. He quickly joined me in the SUV. After putting on our seat belts and popping in a John Mayer album, we drove off in a comfortable silence.

I turned my head to face Justin and I watched him drive. He had one hand on the steering wheel and the other in his mouth, chewing on his nail. It was a very annoying habit of his, but tonight it was cute. His freshly shaved face made him look so young and adorable, yet he still kept this masculine maturity about him. He was so complex. It was hard to figure him out sometimes, but I guess that was part of his charm.

We pulled up to this elegant Italian restaurant that Justin had picked out. I would've preferred Rosco's or In 'n Out, but Justin had insisted that he'd take me here. Apparently the food in this place was as close to heaven as you could get, but it was still a little too fancy for my liking. That's probably why I was so angry with Tiffany for ruining my shoes. I wanted to be as close to perfect as possible so that I wouldn't embarrass Justin in public. Tiffany, of course, told me that I was fine the way I was and shouldn't be so concerned. But it was crap. The stuff that friends were forced to tell you so that you wouldn't jump off of a building to end your misery.

"You alright?" Justin asked quietly as he opened the door for me. I nodded with a smile.

"Yeah, I'm good." I said as he took my hand and helped me down from the car. A valet drove off with the vehicle as Justin and I walked up to the restaurant. Two men held the glass doors open for us with a polite hello. We both returned the kind gesture and made our way inside. The place was glowing with chandeliers and candles. I could hear the soft melody of Norah Jones flowing from wherever the speakers were hidden as we were guided to our table.

"This place is nice," I commented as I took a seat in the chair Justin had pulled out for me.

"I know, Johnny took me here when I went platinum." Justin informed me. I nodded and continued to look around the grand interior of the restaurant. A waiter, named Francisco, came by with our menus. I opened mine up and began to look at the selections. I nearly choked on air when I saw the prices.

"Chicken Parmesan is seventy bucks," I said, completely astonished. Justin looked over at me and smiled.

"This isn't Wendy's, Lonnie," Well duh. . . , "These people make quality stuff," I rolled my eyes.

"Unless they're raising this bird, killing it, then cooking it, these prices are crazy." Justin laughed lightly and smiled at me.

"You are too cute," I couldn't help but smile also. He did call me cute after all. . .

"I'm being serious," I insisted as Justin giggled again.

"That's why it's cute," I rolled my eyes and Justin kissed my cheek tenderly, "And that's one of the reason why I love you." I was almost tempted to dreamily sigh an 'aw', but snapped out of it when the waiter came back to take our orders. Justin had gotten some Alfredo stuff and I ordered the spinach ravioli. We talked and munched on bread sticks as we waited for our food. Justin kept complimenting me on how good I looked and he whispered that I'd be his dessert tonight. I giggled like a retarded school girl when he brushed his lips against my ear.

Said there'd be no going back
Promised myself I'd never be that sad
Maybe that's why you've come along
To show me, it's not always bad

Damn him for being so. . . him. He's too perfect for his own good and it made me wonder how Britney and Felicia could ever hurt him like that. It was sad because he's done nothing but love every woman that has ever had his heart. But then again, if Britney and Felicia hadn't been so stupid, I wouldn't be here. With him. Wanting him. Trying to gather all of my courage to tell him that I love him. Because I would've never thought about 'us' because he wouldn't have given me the time of day. But maybe that's why things happened the way they did. Maybe he was the one for me. A silver lining on so many dark clouds. . .

Coz I can feel it, baby
I feel like I'm falling for you
But I'm scared to, let go
I'm scared coz my heart has been hurt so

"You gotta stop spacing out on me," Justin smiled at me and I smiled happily in his direction.

"I love you," It flowed out so naturally that I didn't have a chance to catch myself. Justin looked as shocked as I did before he smiled.

"You love me?" he questioned cautiously. Well, I guess there's no denying it now.

"I love you so much, Jay." I assured. My heart began to beat faster as Justin searched my eyes for a few moments.

"You're not shittin' me, are you?" What a romantic thing to say. . .

"No," I laughed, "I'm not shittin' you." A smile spread across his face as he leaned in and kissed me softly.

"I love you too," He kissed me again and I smiled against him lips.

I want you so much
I need you so much
I want you so much
I need you so much
Believe me my love
Believe me my love

"You better love me," I stated sternly. Justin grinned and wiggled his bushy eyebrows suggestively.

"I'll show you how much tonight," He winked and ended his dirty moment right before the waiter came to our table with our orders.

"Here you go," Fransisco said as he placed the food in front of us. We smiled and thanked him. Justin smiled and 'accidentally' dropped his napkin beneath the table. I tried to stifle a giggle when I felt his hand creeping up my thigh. The bastard grazed my panties with his finger tips, teasingly slow, before sitting up.

"Found it," he announced as he looked at me through the corner of his beautiful eyes. I smiled and licked my lips.

He was definitely getting some tonight.

*-*-*-*-*-*-*

I don't even remember the way the food tasted when we ate. I can't remember the pointless conversation we had at the table. The drive back to his place had been a blur. But I do remember his sweet kisses. The way his hands gently squeezed my hips as we stumbled towards his bed. I remember how he said that he loved me and how wonderful it felt to say it back. I remember the incredible feeling of our two bodies becoming one in the most intimate and loving way possible. I remember how I softly called his name when I reached a level of euphoria that made the entire world seem so insignificant. A pleasure so profound that for a moment I didn't believe that my body could sustain it.

All of this because of love. A love so deep that I couldn't explain it. It took me from the darkness and pain, allowing me to see that there was hope for me. That I wasn't meant to be alone and miserable. . .

I yawned as I groaned in frustration as the sun rays irritated my eyes. Damn, it was morning already? Why does it always feel like you sleep for two minutes before you're waking up again? I'm ready to curse the sun out before I realize where I am. This wasn't my room, it was his.

I smiled when I realized we're wrapped in each other's arms. Sprawled out across his bed with the blankets tangled around our naked bodies.

I can't remember the last time I felt this good in my whole life. So content. So complete.

His arm is embracing me warmly. His head is resting softly on my shoulder, and I'm struggling to hold in a laugh as his soft breath tickles the skin in the crook of my neck.

I'm almost afraid to move. Frightened that I might wake up from this wonderful dream. I wanted to burn this moment in my memory forever.

The moment when I finally let myself love again. It feels so heavenly to be in his arms. In his heart.

I look over him for a moment before my hands begin to roam his sleeping form. They trail up from his behind, up his back, all the way to top of his head. My fingers message his scalp and runs through his soft ruffled hair.

He's so beautiful.

My heart races briefly as I realize that this beautiful man had my heart in his hands. That I had put my trust in him.

Usually it's the fear of getting hurt that overwhelms me when the thought of loving someone goes through my mind. But this time there was no fear.

I loved him. And I know now that, no matter what doubts run through my mind, he loves me too.

"Will you stop petting me, woman?" Justin's muffled voice causes me to jump slightly.

"I thought you were sleeping." I said as he began to scoot up towards my face.

"Well, you thought wrong." He gently kissed my lips before rolling over and stretching. I watched as his muscles flexed in all their glory and I bit my bottom lip.

"I'm gonna shower." I announce as I make a beeline for the bathroom. Justin is right on my heels as I run down the hall. This has become a tradition for us. We race to the bathroom like a bunch of idiots. If Justin gets in there before me, he gets to chose what we do on our next sex expedition and I have to do whatever he says. It may sound like fun, but Justin's extra freaky. Don't let the mama's boy persona fool you.

If I reach the bathroom first, he has to say something really inappropriate during an interview and/or I make him hang out with a 'Nsync fanatic, who happens to be his number one fan. I make sure I get him one of the crazy ones.

Let's just say, Justin hates to lose.

So anyway, I'm winning and running like crazy. I can feel the wind breeze up the blanket that's wrapped around my body. I'm two inches from the door when I feel Justin's hands grabbing my waist. He playfully pushes me aside and runs into the bathroom. His victory dance consist of him shaking his small butt and him shouting, 'And what, girl?'.

"Damn, Jay!" I whine, "You cheated!" He laughs cynically, a board smile adorning his boyish face.

"I won fair and square, sweet cheeks. . ." He grins even wider, "Now, I'm gonna have to get back to you on that nifty little position we're gonna be in." If he didn't look so cute, I would've happily smacked that smile off his face.

"Fine, choose your 'nifty' position," I stated nonchalantly, "But you won't be gettin' any from me for awhile, mister." His face quickly flattered as I brushed pass him and into the bathroom. I swaggered over to the shower stall and adjusted the water's temperature. After I got it to a lukewarm setting, I turned to Justin with a smug smile implanted on my face.

"You are so evil," he mumbles as he narrows his eyes at me. I laugh lightly before dropping my blanket and hopping into the shower. I popped my head out of the shower door to speak to Justin.

"You gonna join me?" I asked with a smirk. He stubbornly folded his arms across his chest and stuck up his nose.

"I refuse to shower with a woman who would deny the man she loves her sensual goodies." I laughed heartily and Justin reluctantly cracked a smile.

"Aw, don't be like that," I pouted, "You can have my goodies." He quickly perked up at the news and I laughed.

"Girl, don't mess with my hormones," Justin warned sternly as he walked over to the shower.

"I'm not," I assured as he climbed into the stall next to me. He placed his hands on my hip, quickly sliding them down to my ass. With a playful squeeze, he backed me up against the tile wall. I shivered slightly at the coldness, but was instantly heated by his kiss. His palm rested softly on my cheek as he slipped his tongue into my mouth. He pulled away for a moment.

"This doesn't count, does it?" he asked with a smile.

"Naw, this is a freebie," He laughed lightly before he placed his hands between my legs, slowly moving them upwards.

"Too bad," he whispered with a tiny smile, "Because this is gonna be really fun."

No argument there.
