Jealous

Guess what? It's over. It's finally over. Justin's U.S. tour is coming to an end and I cannot tell you how excited I am to have him back home where he belongs. The months had been long and tiring. Flying to every state once a month to see him became a ritual for me, but I'm ready to break that habit. Only three weeks and four days to go. Believe me, I've marked my calender and plan to be the first person at that gate when he comes off that plane.

But I haven't spent my time alone and bored. I've been hanging out with Adam Harris, the guy I met on my way home. He's amazing. It turns out that he was flying down to LA to apply for a counseling job at the rec. The kids loved him. Chris and him have become best buds. But Justin. . . He's another story. He wasn't too happy about Adam. In fact, he practically hates the guy. I don't understand why, he hasn't even met him yet. A part of me thinks he's jealous because if I jokingly say that he was jealous, he gets all defensive. Come on. Justin against Adam? Justin wins without a doubt. He has my heart and no other man can make me turn away from him.

But I like his jealousy for some reason. It makes me feel like I'm not the only insecure person in this relationship. It's nice not to be alone.

Anyhow, I've done some serious thinking these last few months and I've decided to go on a vacation. I need it. Badly. I'm so stressed right now and I just need to get away. Clear my head. Relax. Have some emergency Alonsha time. I'm still deciding on where to go, but as long as it's out of California, I'm all for it.

"Ms. D, I'm not getting this." I looked at Jill with a sympathetic glance as she pulled at her long blond hair in frustration.

"It's simple, honey. All you have to do is put the distance over time and get the velocity." She looked up at me, her green eyes full of confusion.

"Put the what over what and get the what now?" I laughed and sat up straighter.

"Okay, you take the fifty-two and put it over ten. . ." I began to explain before a knock at my door cut me off short.

"Lon, can I speak to you for a minute?" I looked up in time to see Adam giving me an urgent look. I looked over at Jill, who rolled her eyes.

"This can't wait?" I asked, politely.

"I just. . ." He paused, "It's important." I looked at him weirdly before turning back to Jill.

"I'll get Chris to help me," she stated as she gathered her books. Adam held the door open for her before shutting it as she left. His slender frame walked briskly to my desk and he sat with a plop across from me.

"What's wrong?" I asked immediately. He sighed and pouted before shrugging.

"I don't know." I raised a brow and nodded slowly.

"Uh huh. . ." I said, unsure, "Care to elaborate?"

"I'm breaking up with Kim." My eyes widened in shock.

"Again?" I asked. He nodded and shamefully buried his face in his hands.

"I can't do it. . . We're just not working out." I rolled my eyes, tired of the same line from him. If there was anything unflattering about Adam, it was his inability to commit. He's the type of guy who can't go three seconds without looking at another woman.

"I thought you loved her." I stated.

"I do, it's just. . ."

"You can't control your hormones?" I asked bluntly.

"Look, I just think it's better to break things off than to cheat." Normally, that would've been reason enough. But he never cheats. He dates and leaves. Dates and leaves. He doesn't cheat.

"You never cheat." I voiced as Adam bit his thumbnail.

"Of course I don't," he said, "I don't have a girlfriend, therefore, I can't cheat." I sighed dramatically and Adam bit his lip.

"You are so weird." I said tiredly.

"Who are you telling?" He smiled softly, "How could I not want to be with someone I love?" I shrugged. I'm the last person who would know the answer to that.

"Adam, you can't keep breaking up and making up with this girl," I explained, "She's gonna get tired of it and might not take you back."

"That's what I'm afraid of."

"Than don't break up with her," I said softly as I leaned over my desk, "If you love her, you'll make it work." His hazel eyes leveled up to my brown ones.

"I don't think I can do that," he breathed. It sounded like he was going to cry.

"Adam. . ." I said soothingly.

"No, Alonsha," he said, cutting me off, "I'm gonna tell her to move on. To not take me back. She can do better anyway." As much as I hate to admit it, she can do better. A man that isn't willing to commit isn't worth it. But I know that Adam's a good man. I know that there's something else behind his fear of commitment.

"Are you sure there isn't anything behind all this?" I asked timidly. Adam shrugged and licked his lips.

"There's a reason behind everything, isn't there?" I nodded in agreement and dropped the topic completely. He was uncomfortable and I didn't want to pressure him into talking.

"Okay than, I guess I'm gonna head out." I announce. Adam takes the cue to stand but he stops when his eyes fall onto my calender.

"Randy Candy?" He smiles and I nod.

"My boyfriend's coming back that day." I explain. He laughs.

"He lets you call him Randy Candy?" I roll my eyes and smile before grabbing my purse.

"I'm glad his nickname amuses you," I say dryly, "Now get out of my office." He giggles.

"Okay, okay, I'm going." I rolled my eyes again before walking out of my office and to the front with Adam by my side.

"You need a ride?" I offer as he holds the front door open for me.

"Yeah, because I really didn't want to catch the bus." I laughed and nodded. We walked over to my car and hopped in.

"Seat belt?" I question. He securely clicks himself in and turns to me with a grin.

"Check."

"Music?" He turns on the radio, blasting some Mary J. Blige.

"Check."

"Okay," I say as I but the gear in reverse, "Lets get going."

After driving around in silence for ten minutes, Adam spoke softly.

"Alonsha, do you mind if I hang out with you until eight?" he questioned, "My roommate's having 'company'." He used air quotations and I smiled softly.

"Sure," I answered, "It was just gonna be me and Bos anyway. I'd enjoy the human company." Adam laughed as I made a right at the corner, heading back in the direction of my apartment complex.

We reached my place in no time. Adam, being the gentleman that he is, grabbed my bag full of paperwork and carried it inside. As soon as I opened my apartment door, Bosco immediately began to bark happily as he wagged his little tail. I smiled, finding his excitement humorous, as I patted his head. Adam also gave him an affectionate rub on the back.

I headed into the kitchen, already seeing the answering machine blinking a red two. I pressed play as I placed my keys on the counter.

"Hey, Sexy," Justin, "I'm just calling to say hi. We're in Dallas. I'm good. Christina's good. We're all good. I miss you and I love you. Call me later. Bye, babe." I smiled and my heart leaped when he said that he loved me. He still makes me feel all warm inside with his soothing voice.

"Alonsha, it's me." Tiffany's voice interrupted my thoughts as message two began to play, "Me and Scott are still in Florida, but we'll be home tomorrow night," They had spent a week at some resort for their anniversary, "Speaking of vacation, did you figure out where you wanted to go? I want the details when I come home. I've gotta get going. Love ya, sugar!" I laughed and deleted the messages.

"Vacation?" I nearly jumped out of my skin when I heard his voice.

"Yeah, I'm leaving for a week. Before Justin gets back though, I wanna be here when he arrives." He nodded.

"Good, you need one." I couldn't argue with him.

"Yeah, but I still haven't decided where I want to go yet."

"Well, when do you plan on leaving?" I sheepishly smiled.

"Friday. . ." His eyes widened.

"Friday?" he questioned as I nodded, "As in four days from now?" I nodded again. He laughed lightly.

"Shut up!" I whined, "I procrastinate." He nodded.

"Apparently." I rolled my eyes.

"Unless you plan on giving me suggestions on vacation spots, this conversation is completely pointless." He smiled.

"Okay, how about Hawaii?" I crinkled up my nose and headed out to the living room.

"Too obvious." I flopped on my sofa and Adam followed suit.

"Disneyland?"

"I said I wanted a vacation, not a drive around the block." He chuckled.

"Fiji." I raised a brow.

"Too rich for my blood."

"Jamaica?" I thought it over for a moment.

"It seems plausible." Adam smiled.

"I think we have a winner!" he said enthusiastically. I laughed and nodded.

"Jamaica it is."

Justin sighed as his tired body sunk into the lavish sheets on his hotel bed. His eyes landed on the ceiling fan near the center of the room. He watched as it rotated, hoping he'd bore himself to sleep, but it didn't work. He groaned and rolled over on his side. He stared at the clock that read 1:32am. He didn't want to disturb her, but he needed to hear her voice. So, he reached over and grabbed his cell phone. After he dialed her number, he waited patiently for her to pick up.

"Hello?" He smiled at her soft tone.

"Hey, baby," he cooed, "Did I wake you?" Alonsha sighed.

"No, I just came in actually." He raised his brow and looked back at his clock, 1:35am.

"What time is it over there?" he asked.

"Uh. . ." Alonsha yawned, "Ten-thirty."

"Were you working late again?" Justin's fingers tugged at a loose string on his sheet.

"No, I actually got off early today," Alonsha informed him, "I was hanging out with Adam." Justin couldn't help but roll his eyes. Adam. The bastard. He should have known that's who she was with. It was always him. It made him uncomfortable. Uneasy. Self-conscious, even. Justin was jealous. Jealous. That was something new to him. His confidence in love had always secured him, but things were always different now. Alonsha was different. Adam was definitely different. He was real. With Britney, every guy that wanted her, could never have her. She was Britney Spears. A celebrity. Princess of Pop. But Adam could take Alonsha. Alonsha was. . . Alonsha. She was in his reach. A relationship between them could be a reality. He guessed that's why he felt somewhat threatened by this Adam character and he wanted him gone. He was beginning to understand how Alonsha felt around Danyelle.

"Oh, that's nice." Justin stated dully. He could hear Alonsha sigh and was sure she rolled her eyes.

"Justin, it's Adam. Don't upset yourself." Alonsha said calmly.

"I know it's. . . Adam," He couldn't even stand to say his name, "I know he's nothing to be worried about."

"Damn straight," Alonsha reassured, "But you still hate him, don't you?" Alonsha giggled lightly and Justin couldn't help but smile.

"I don't hate him, I just really dislike the guy." Justin corrected.

"Oh come on, Jay. You haven't even met him yet."

"You don't need to meet an ass to know its an ass." he stated, bluntly.

"He's a really sweet guy, Justin." Alonsha said.

"Yeah, you told me. . .a million times." Justin grumbled.

"I love you, Justin," Alonsha said, "If Adam intimidates you that much. . ."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Who said anything about intimidation?" Justin questioned, defensively.

"Well, he obviously does something to you."

"Yeah, piss me off." Alonsha laughed.

"This is the Danyelle scenario all over again." Alonsha said.

"Yeah, and we both know how that turned out."

"Justin, please. For the love of all things good and holy. Adam doesn't want me." Alonsha said frustratedly.

"How do you know?" Justin asked, "Guys know how to mask their emotions."

"He's madly in love with someone. I'm the last thing on his mind, believe me." Justin remained unconvinced.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. . ." Justin sighed, "Enough about the dickweed." Alonsha laughed.

"You're so mean." Justin shrugged, despite the fact that she couldn't see him.

"Well, you love my mean ass, don't you?"

"Uh huh," Alonsha answered, "Hold up, someone's on the other line."

"It better not be Adam!" Alonsha laughed and clicked over. Justin waited and stared at his clock before he heard her voice again.

"Oh my God, I've gotta go!" Alonsha said hurriedly. Justin's immediate response was to panic.

"What's wrong?" he asked, "Is everything alright?" Alonsha laughed, giving him a rush of relief.

"Ally's having her baby!"
