Bailey walked quickly down to the cafe, she looked back a few times afraid Chris might just try to follow her, but if he was she didn’t see him.  She walked in and was surprised to see he was already there.  He was sitting alone drinking coffee in a booth in the far corner of the cafe.  “It’s a little late for coffee don’t you think?” She asked.  “Not considering the day I’ve had.” He replied.  She quickly sat down across from him.  The waitress brought her some water, then left.            “Okay, I just left my incredibly good looking boyfriend alone in a nice hotel room, so you better start talking.” Bailey said then took a sip of her water.  “You mean to tell me you were actually going to have sex with him?” He asked.  “No, I had sex with you; we were going to make love because we love each other.” Bailey explained.  “Whatever.” He huffed.  “Seriously, start talking before I start walking.” Bailey snapped.              “Okay, just give me a minute, this isn’t easy for me.” He explained.  Bailey reached across the table and held his hand.  He looked down.  “It’s not easy for me to admit I was wrong.” He continued.  She listen carefully, “What are you trying to say?” She asked.  “I’m trying to tell you that I’m sorry for the way I have treated you, and I’m ready to take responsibility.” He said softly.  “You’re finally ready to be a real father instead of a sperm donor?” She asked in disbelief.  “Would you stop that, this is serious; we are having a baby here.” He snapped.  Bailey sat back in shock.              “I have to say I’m confused, what on earth happened, why did you change your mind?” She asked.  “Well it was a lot of things, and a lot of people.  The point is I realize I was the one about to make a big mistake, not you.  I mean you accepted the fact that you were having a baby, my baby, and I just couldn’t.” He explained as a single tear rolling down his cheek.  “It’s okay, there’s no need to cry, and there is still time for you to be a part of this baby’s life.” Bailey explained.  “You’re right, but what about Chris?” He asked.  “What about him, he’s the man I love and right now I want to spend the rest of my life with him.  But he’s not the biological father; he wants you to be there too.   A lot of kids grow up in families with step-parents, you did.” Bailey explained.              “I know, I mean, what are we going to tell Chris.  He doesn’t know who I am yet.  He’s going to flip.” He said.  “We have to tell him, if you want to be in this baby’s life.  We can sit him down explain everything to him.  He‘ll understand.” Bailey replied.  “Are you sure?” He asked.  “Yes, now come on, it’s late.  We should both be getting to bed.  Tomorrow I’ll call you and you’ll make plans to sit down with Chris and talk to him.” Bailey explained.  “You’re right, that’s a good plan.” He said getting up; he walked with her back to the hotel.  “Thanks again, for giving me this second chance.  It means a lot to me.” He said as the approached the hotel doors.  “You’re welcome, just don’t blow it.  I don’t give out too many third chances.” Bailey said.  She kissed him on the cheek.            He smiled then they parted ways.  Bailey couldn’t help but smile as she walked back up to Chris’ room.  She walked in slowly just in case he was sleeping.  She smiled as she got close to the bed.  Chris was passed out with a book in his hand.  She walked over and took the book out of his hand.  She looked at it, and laughed, he had been reading one of her books on having a baby.  Bailey tossed it back on the night stand and then got in bed along side Chris; she rested her head against him.  She knew that he wanted to be woken up, but she couldn’t bring herself to do it.  She quickly fell asleep.            Bailey’s eyes flittered open; she smiled when she saw Chris setting in the chair on the other side of the room.  He was flipping through the last few pages of the book he had started last night.  He saw her out of the corner of his eye.  “Why didn’t you wake me?” He asked still looking at the book.  “You were sleeping and you looked so sweet.” Bailey explained.  “I must have fallen asleep reading this book, it’s very interesting, but I guess I was just too tired.” Chris explained.  He put the book down and then walked over to her.  He sat beside her on the bed.              “I take it things went well then?” Chris asked wrapping his arms around her.  “Yeah, it was great; he wants to be in the baby’s life after all.” Bailey explained then kissed him.  “So, do I get to know who he is now, I mean I’ll find out anyway, because I am going to be there too.” Chris said sweetly.  “I know you are and so does he.  He understands and you will get to know who he is, but it’s complicated.” Bailey said.  “What do you mean, why can’t you just tell me?” Chris asked a little worried.            “It would be easier to do with him there.” Bailey said.  “You’re not going to break up with me are you?” Chris asked worried.  “No, I would never do that.  I don’t like him like that, like you said last night it was purely physical.  I just think you need to meet him that’s all.” Bailey said then got up and went into the bathroom.  “So when do I get to meet him then?” Chris yelled.  “I’m going to call him later and set the whole thing up.” Bailey said.  “Cool I am going to go find the others; we have a few things we need to do this morning.” Chris said getting up and walking over to her.  He gave her a kiss, “I’ll see you later.” He added.  “Yeah, I’ll catch up with you.” Bailey said then walked him to the door.            Bailey smiled as Chris walked away; he was finally going to know the truth.  Finally her big secret was going to be revealed.  She darted back into the room to get ready, then she meet her friends at the breakfast bar.  “So how was it last night?” Marissa asked smiling at her friend.  “It was great; too bad we didn’t do anything.” Bailey replied sitting down beside the friends.  “What, why not?” Kenya asked shocked.  “I mean we were going to but something more important came up.” Bailey explained.  “Like what?” Kenya asked.  “Like the baby’s daddy called, he wanted to talk to me.  So I left and meet up with him.” Bailey said.              “You left Chris for your mystery guy?” Marissa questioned.  “It’s not like that, he wanted to talk to me about the baby, and he’s finally ready to admit it’s his.  He’s ready to be a father.” Bailey said with a smile.  “Really, why the change of heart?” Kenya asked.  “I think it just finally got to him, he was scared at first I think, but so was I.  It’s going to be okay.” Bailey said.  “So do we get to know who he is?  I mean if he’s going to be hanging around and all, we will figure it out.” Marissa explained.  “Yeah I’ll tell you but not right now, I want to talk to Chris about it first.  We’re going to make arrangements to sit down with Chris today and talk about it.” Bailey said.  “Okay, but you tell us as soon as you get done.” Marissa wined.  Bailey just laughed.            Meanwhile, down the street, “You guys I can’t wait I finally get to meet the father of Bailey’s baby.” Chris said.  “What are you going to say to him?” JC asked a little worried.  “I just want to know why it took him so long to step up.” Chris said.  “You aren’t a little mad that he beat you to it?” Lance questioned.  “No, I mean, I would have liked to, but she knows I’m not a virgin, so why should it matter if she isn’t either.”  Chris said sitting down in the chair.              “So did you and Bailey have fun last night?” Justin asked.  Chris smiled.  “We were going to but then her phone rang and she left.  I was asleep by the time she got back, but there will be plenty of time for that later.” Chris said licking his lips.  “You are something else, I give you that.  I don’t know what I would do if I were in your place, nor do I want to find out.” JC said.  “What do you mean?” Chris asked looking up at him.  “Well you finally meet, ‘the girl’ and ask her out only to find out she’s carrying another man’s baby.  You have to admit, that’s not something you ever plan for, but I have to say I have a whole new respect for you for doing it.” JC explained. “Yeah, it takes a real man to do what you’re doing.” Joey said.            “I don’t know why, and I can’t explain it but I just want to be with her, no matter what else comes along with it.” Chris said deep in thought.  “That’s great, I admire that and I hope one day you and Bailey both find happiness together.” Justin said walking closer to Chris.  “You don’t think this other guy will get in the way do you?” Lance asked.  “I don’t think so; whatever happened between them is history it seems.  She doesn’t want to even talk about it.” Chris explained.  “I don’t think he will give you any trouble, even a blind man could see the wonderful thing you two have going, he’d be foolish to try.” Justin said.  “Besides, Bailey is a smart girl; she doesn’t seem like the type to make the same mistake twice.” Joey added.  “Well this all cool, but don’t we have something we should be doing?” JC asked.  With that the guys got back to work.
