Author's Chapter Notes:
Thanks for reading and letting me know what you think! :)
“Where are you taking me?” Justin asked as the cab driver drove us further and further away from the city

“To the woods”

“Hmm… what are you going to do to me in the woods?” he asked with that sexy smile he has

“Kill you. Then I won’t get caught” I smiled

“You’re going to make this poor man have to turn you in,” Justin said with a chuckle looking up at the cab driver

“Here’s good. Thank you” I said as he stopped and I got out of the car.

Justin paid the man and then walked over to me as he drove off.

“Here’s good huh?” he asked with a smile as he looked around at nothingness.

“Perfect” I smiled, “Everyone was going to be walking around the city, no one will be here”

“Is this where you live around here?”

“No, but it’s where I ran away to” I said as I continued walking and I felt him grab onto my hand. I don’t know why he’s holding my hand; he’s never held my hand before

“There’s some cute places up here,” I said, breaking the silence. I don’t know why he’s acting so weird. Why does he always want to talk when we clearly should not be talking? But now that we’re alone not getting ready to have sex he has nothing to say? “This place has the best greens and barbeque chicken”

“I don’t know Maddie, I’m from the home of southern barbeque”

“It’s good” I smiled, “And they have root beer floats too… ohh so good”

“Want to stop?” he asked with a chuckle

“Not yet. There’s this real cute jewelry store with all homemade stuff, do you mind if we stop there?” he shook his head, “I won’t be long, I promise. I just want to get a new ring, I lost mine last year”

“Take your time,” he said as he followed me inside. I really feel so confused with today in general. Why is he actually being nice? Why does he even want to spend the day with me not in the bedroom? That never happens.

I found the ring I wanted as soon as I walked in, it was the pretty much the same as the one I had before. I kept looking around, “I like that one” Justin said looking in the glass counter.

I walked over to where he was pointing to a necklace with blue gems,

“That’s cute, I didn’t even see it”

“Do you want it?”

“Yeah, it’s cute. I’ll get it”

“Cool. I’m going to get that one for my mother. You think she’ll like it?” he pointed to another bracelet with amber gems

I nodded my head, “It’s cute”

“Cool. Are you done or are you still looking?”

“I’m all set”

“Alright, I want that one, that one, and that ring over there” Justin said as he took his wallet out from his back pocket

“No, J let me get mine”

He gave me a look, “I got in Maddie”

We walked out of the store and I put my new jewelry on while we made our way down the street, “Thank you Sexy”

“Yeah. I’ve never bought one piece of jewelry for as little as I paid for the three” he laughed, “I’m hungry Maddie”

“Let’s go here. We can get it to go and eat down at the river,” I said as we walked into the restaurant we had passed earlier.

“What do you suggest now?” he asked as he looked up at the menu on the wall

“The greens and the…”

“Madison?” I heard my name and looked over to see him. Shit. Get me out of here.

I felt her tense up as her name was called and she looked as if she was looking for an exit. The kid who called her name looked like quite a fool, I don’t know what she’s so scared of.

“I thought that was you, what the heck are you doin’ here? Are you back?”

“Just for the day, not forever” she said softly

“Well darn, it’s good to see you. How have you been?”

“Good. Good. This is Justin” she pushed me forward

“What’s up man?” I asked as I held my hand out and he just looked at it. I heard myself chuckle and brought my hand back down, “Looks like we’re up Maddie” I said as I grabbed onto her hand and tried to save her from that fool. But she just stood there, I don’t know what kind of a history these two have but it seems like he still has some sort of an effect on her,

“What do you want?”

“Barbeque chicken, curly fries and extra greens” he answered for her, “And a root beer float”

Who does this fool think he is? Trying to tell me that. I looked over at Maddie and she nodded her head, all right then. I ordered and gave them their time alone even though she looks like she’s ready to pass out. Once we got the food I grabbed the bag and the two floats and walked back to her where she was still standing quietly. “Ready babe?”

She nodded her head and followed me, I grabbed onto her hand honestly because I felt like if I didn’t she’d fall down. “What was that about?” I asked as we walked down the street

“Just an ex… boyfriend” she said softly, “Sorry. We need to go this way though”

“Are you alright?” she nodded her head, “Was he your first or something?”

“No” she laughed

“Is he a good guy?” I asked trying to figure out a way to ask her if he did something to her she didn’t want done. I don’t know it’s not everyday people act like that when they see an ex-boyfriend.

“No, not really” she said softly as she took a sip from her drink

“What did he do?”

“Nothing just… let it go, ok?”

I nodded my head as she stopped and sat down under a tree by the river,

“So this is it huh?” she nodded her head, “You used to come out here a lot?”

“Yeah, like every day” she said as she took out the Styrofoam container and grabbed a fry, “I used to like… sneak away here and make up dances” she laughed, “Gosh, I was such a nerd. I used to pretend that like the lake was full of people and everyone was there watching”

“I used to do that too”

“Shut up” she said as she grabbed the fork from the bag and stuffed a forkful of greens in her mouth.

“No, I’m serious. We had a porch around the house, and I used to go out there and pretend it was a stage. And the yard is huge so I’d pretend it was full with people screaming my name” I let a chuckle out myself, I don’t know why I just admitted to that

“And now you have arenas full of people screaming your name” she smiled,

“Eat them, did you try them?”

“They’re good” I nodded my head

“Best ever right?”

“Pretty good, I don’t know about best ever” I laughed, “You’ll have to come to this place near my house. Plus my Mama makes the best greens ever” she nodded her head and I took a bite of the chicken, “Shit. The chicken on the other hand”

“Good right?” she laughed

“Amazing”

“Want to go swimming?” Maddie asked as she stood up and pulled her shirt off and then slowly pulled her jeans down her body, standing in front of me in her bra and panties. I nodded my head and pulled my shirt off just as she unhooked her bra and pulled her panties down before jumping into the water

“Do people come around here?” I asked looking around

“Does it look like people come around here Sexy? If you’re scared you can come in with your boxers”

“Nah, I’m not scared,” I said as I pulled my pants off and jumped in

“It’s nice here,” Justin said as he swam over to me and wrapped his arms around me

“Yeah, it’s my secret place though don’t tell anyone” I said as he kissed the back of my neck

“I could build a nice house over here”

“Yeah right, then you’ll have to deal with me swimming in your river” I laughed as I turned around and wrapped my legs around him

“I could deal with that, as long as it’s skinny-dipping” he smiled and kissed me gently rubbing his hands over my thighs

“Of course” I said as I kissed his neck

We stayed in the water, Justin had his arms around my waist and we watched the sun set. It was really beautiful and I’ve never felt this good around him before. “Look at you, being all romantic” he said with a chuckle as he kissed my neck

“I didn’t plan this asshole”

“Of course not” he held onto me tighter, “What the fuck was that?”

“What?”

“There was just something against my fucking leg,” he said as he let go of me and kind of pushed me away

“Calm down Sexy, it was probably my leg”

“Nah, it was slimy. I swear to god Maddie, if it was a fucking snake” he jumped out of the water and quickly pulled his clothes on

“You’re scared of snakes?” I asked with a laugh

“I’m not scared of them. I don’t like them fucking swimming around me” he said as he shook his body as if the thought of a snake gave him the chills. Yeah, sure he’s not scared of snakes

I laughed as I got out of the water, “And you’re from Tennessee?” he nodded his head, “What kind of a country boy is afraid of snakes?”

“I said I’m not afraid of them”

“Oh yeah, right. Somebody has been in the city too long”

“Fuck you, I don’t like snakes”

“Alright, calm down” I said as I heard his phone ring. He answered it and walked away, sometimes he just goes from hot to cold so fast. He needed to cool off a little, so he paced around as he walked.

“We have to go, they’re waiting,” he said as he grabbed his shirt and put it on as he walked

“Well gosh, wait a minute,” I said as I grabbed my shoes as I jogged to catch up with him

“I’ll take a cab, then he’ll come back and get you,” Justin said seriously

“What?” he can’t be serious

“I don’t want them to fucking see us, we can’t just show up at the same time”

“You’re really going to leave me here in the middle of the woods in the dark?”

“They’ll come right back for you” he doesn’t get it. It’s a fifteen-minute drive back to the hotel, which leaves me waiting for a half an hour alone on the street in the dark

“Are you fucking kidding me?”

“What is your suggestion Maddie?”

“Um… we both take the cab together just like when we came here”

“We can’t both get out of the cab together”

“Are you fucking kidding me? So you’re going to leave me in the middle of the woods? How about you let me go first and then it comes back for you?”

“Why should I be late?”

“You’re already fucking late” I took a deep breath, he only cares about himself, it’s clear now. Just when things start to go even a little normal and he starts to act like a normal human being something like this happens and he seriously suggests leaving me in the middle of the woods.

“You’re from here, you know your way around”

“I haven’t been here in like five years and I sure as fuck don’t know my way around in the dark” he just looked at me and shrugged, as if he had already come to his solution and there was no talking him out of it, “We’ll take the cab back and he can drop me off a few blocks away from the hotel and then I’ll walk the rest of the way. Will that be ok with you?”

“Whatever, let’s go”

We rode back to the city in complete silence. He has to be bipolar. There’s no other explanation. How can things be going so good and then he gets pissy and seriously suggests leaving me out in the middle of the woods alone so people don’t see us together. Too bad everyone already knows. I seriously almost screamed that at him, but then he would have definitely left me alone, and probably not even sent the cab back.

I got out of the car a few blocks away and walked back to the hotel. He could have easily been the one that walked the few blocks, but obviously he’s in an asshole mood because a snake may have touched him. When I made it back to the busses Justin was already on his, I’m sure he just got on and didn’t even talk to anyone. No one is even out here, I could have taken the cab and we would have been fine. But no, it’s like the end of the world if he’s seen with me.

I got on the bus and everyone just watched me. I’m not in the mood to deal with their shit right now. I feel like the outcast because I’m with Justin and they have all bonded and everything. I moved to the back of the bus, walking past everyone, and sat down with my legs curled up to my chest.

“How was everything with your family?” Jamie asked with a smile. She knows I wasn’t with my family, everyone knows. I can tell that based on the way everyone is looking at me waiting for my response.

“Fine” I said softly as I grabbed my bag and took out my IPOD.

“Is Justin back yet so we can leave?” I heard Rob but pretended I didn’t. I closed my eyes and pretended I was listening to my IPOD but the truth was I could hear him loud and clear. I feel like I’m being bullied or something. I never liked Rob, he’s always thought he was the best dancer since Michael Jackson or something.

Now that everyone knows what’s going on I should just go on Justin’s bus. But I’m pretty sure being on the bus with Justin right now will be worse than being on here. At least they stopped staring at me and moved back to the front of the bus. I actually turned on my IPOD and closed my eyes once again wishing Justin would be less bipolar and give me some sort of hint as to what is going on with us. I only need to get through the next few days and then the tour is over and I’m done.
