No sooner had they gotten home then Jake demanded they watch the episode that Kristen had taped. When he looked at J.C., really looked, he could see that she was right. He looked just like J.C.

The only thing they didn’t appear to have in common was singing. J.C.’s voice was flawless, while Jake couldn’t hold a tune even if his life depended on it.

And he’d tried. He’d always loved music it just didn’t seem to love him back. He’d had voice, piano, and dance lessons growing up, but nothing took.

That didn’t stop him from being a fan of it, though. He absorbed as much of it as he could, especially when he got sick. He had to do something when he was alone and bored in the hospital.

That’s what he wrote in his letter in addition to sending the pictures of his room, the emails he’d exchanged with JC and Justin, meeting Lance at the courthouse, and getting mistaken for J.C. in public. He left out the part about being adopted and sharing a birthday. He didn’t want to freak them out too much.
