„Don’t be that melodramatic, girl.“ Mateo replied. 

„I cheated, Mat.“

„Well, we don’t know for sure. There is no definition when cheating exactly starts.“ 

Eve frowned. 

„Mat, are you alright? I made out with his best friend. You saw it with your own eyes.“

„But you didn’t fuck him.“

She scoffed. 

„But we were not far away from that. I felt the excitement in his trunks…“ 

„So what? Fact is there was no sex. I suggest we call it cheating light.“

„Mat, what are you trying here, hm? I don’t want to play the situation down.“

„But you shouldn’t work up into this too hard, either.“ 

„Ya, however.“

„He texted you when we’ve had dinner, right?“ Mateo said next.

„Yes, we texted…“

„About what?“

„About not telling anyone. And that this will never happen again.“

„Nothing else?“

„What are you trying to say?“

Mateo made a short pause.

„Eve, listen. When I talked to him, he said something like… that he likes you a lot. It means this whole thing was not meaningless for him.“ 

„He told you?!“ Eve asked in disbelief.

Mateo’s eyes gone open wide. 

„Does that mean you know he has feelings for you?!“ 

She sighed before answering. 

„The night of our anniversary party… in the kitchen… he said he was liking me more than he should. But in that moment I wasn’t sure if this was just a part of his game. Honestly, I didn’t expect him being serious.“ 

Mateo crossed his arms and smirked. 

„At least we have an good explanation now why he did what he did. But it makes things complicated.“ 

„However, I don’t have feelings for him. I’m just a fan, enjoying his music. I admire him as an artist. And I like him as a friend. That’s all.“

„But isn’t it kind of exciting as well? I mean, this is JT, for god’s sake!“

„Yes, it’s flattering. I’m not denying that fact. But I simply do not respond his crush on me.“ 

„And what if he crosses the line once again?“

„I’m not gonna let this happen. I swear, I won’t.“ 

In the next moment Rachel entered the kitchen. 

„Oh, good morning. It’s good to see both of you.“ She said friendly. 

„Please don’t get used to see my face more often that early in the morning.“ Matteo replied. 

„However, I need to discuss something important with both of you. Come on.“ 

Eve and Mateo exchanged confused glances, before following their boss into her office. They sat down in front of her desk. She closed the door and took her seat in front of them. 

„I was waiting for the right moment to have this conversation with you. And now - as you almost finished your Beverly Hill project, Eve - I guess it’s time to make some things clear.“ Rachel announced. 

Again Eve and Mateo looked at each other, before giving their attention back to Rachel. 

„Eve, the house you’ve been designing belongs to my boyfriend Bob. And I’m moving in with him.“ Rachel confessed. 

„Oh…“ Eve said surprised. „And why you’ve been hiding this?“ 

„Because I wanted to see how you deal with such a big project, without knowing that you’re designing the house for your boss. Just see it like a test.“

„A test?“ 

„Yes, a test.“

„A test for what?“

„I am doing that job for a while now and I’m not getting any younger.“ Rachel continued talking. 

„What does that supposed to mean?“ Mateo asked. 

„The thing is, I deeply fell in love with Bob. He’s is a wealthy retired business man who wants to spend more time with me. He loves to travel and see the whole world. But I can’t do this with him when I’m running my own firm.“ 

„Good lord, Rachel. Is this what I believe it is…?“ Mateo stammered. 

Rachel nodded. 

„I’m offering you being my partners. The deal is 33,33 % shares of the firm for each of you. Another condition is, that I’ll become an inactive partner. It means I will not intervene in any business matters any longer.“

„So, you want us running your firm?“ Eve said while processing hard. 

„Exactly. I wanna keep my shares to a certain point and sell it to you if I feel ready to do so. But at present this is what I have to offer.“ 

Eve looked at Mateo again, being deeply overwhelmed.

„I understand why you chose Mat. He’s the one who’s working for you the longest. But why me?“ She wanted to know. 

Rachel smiled calmly. 

„Look, no one else here has any experiences how to run a firm. You on the other hand had your own business, before your started working for me. Furthermore I’m deeply impressed from your work, my dear. My new house is a masterpiece. I couldn’t do it any better than you did.“

„I don’t know what to say…“ Eve replied, still processing. 

„You don’t need to say anything at this point. Take your time and think about it. I know this is a lot.“

„What about the share deal, Rachel? How much do you want?“ Mateo asked next. 

„500.000 bucks, each.“ 

„Uh, that’s a lot. I need to have a serious conversation with my bank first.“ He added. 

„Yes, do so. And let me know, when you made your decisions.“
