Eve put her phone away and leaned back into her sun lounger. She was lying at the beach under a palm tree, just wearing her red bikini and sunglasses.

„Good girl.“ She heard Lucy saying, who was lying next to her and sipping a fruit punch. 

Lucy took the next possible flight to Cancún as Eve informed her about her sudden plans. She was glad Eve was responding to Josh’s messages, instead of ignoring him.

„He’s happy about the baby.“ Eve answered. 

„I bet he is. But he would be happier if you returned back home instead of going to Mexico.“

Eve sighed. 

„I couldn’t stay in L.A. for any second longer, Lu. Too much happened. I need this to sort my mind and get some rest.“ 

„I know. And I understand.“

„So, what did your boss say?“

„He wasn’t amused when I spontaneously asked for a week off. But I’m just too good for getting fired.“ Lucy boasted and took another sip. 

Eve smiled. 

„And Joey?“

„Of course he wondered why you were traveling alone to Cancún and asking me to join you. But I told him I can’t explain.“ 

„So, he told Josh where we are and asked for the reason.“ 

„Yes, I’m pretty sure that’s what happened as soon as I left the house.“ 

„It definitely happened. Otherwise Josh would have asked me where I am.“ 

Lucy changed the subject.

„I still can’t believe you got pregnant. I mean, those things don’t happen accidentally to people in our age. You’re unbelievable, Eve.“

„Look. Asking Josh to use condoms out of the blue without explanation was not an option. But as my doctor told me there were low chances for pregnancy, I believed I was still save.“ Eve explained.

Lucy smiled cheeky. 

„Still save? You’ve been banging him night and day! Probably even your implant would have quitted the service sooner or later.“ She joked. 

Eve laughed. 

„I agree to that fact.“  

After spending the whole day at the beach doing nothing, the girls made themselves on their way back their hotel. As they entered the lobby, the concierge raised his arm waving.

„Mrs. Miller!“ 

Eve and Lucy heard him shouting and went to the counter. 

„Yes?“ Eve asked curiously. 

The concierge smiled all over his face. 

„I would like to give you your new room keys.“

„New room keys?“

„You’ve been upgraded into our penthouse suite.“

Lucy started smiling. She already understood what was going on. 

„Why?“ Eve continued asking. 

„Mr. Chasez and Mr. Fatone wish the ladies a very pleasant stay.“

Eve looked at Lucy while she was still grinning. 

„You also told Joey which hotel I’ve chosen?“

„Of course I did. He’s my man and wants to know where I am.“

Eve smiled, being excited about the upgrade and took the keys. 

„Oh my goodness! This is amazing! Tell me I’m not dreaming!“ Lucy said when they entered the penthouse.

The main room was giant, with an incredible view at the ocean. Both noticed two beautiful bunches of flowers, a fruit basket and a tray with delicious pastries and chocolate candy at one sideboard. 

„These are mine!“ Lucy cheered and smelled at the bouquet of colorful tulips. 

„I know. They’re your favorite.“ Eve said and smiled. 

Her bouquet was made of beautiful light pink peonies, which she loved the most. She couldn’t deny that she was deeply touched by the loving gesture from Josh and Joey. 

There were two separate bedrooms with king size beds. Eve took the vase with her flowers and went into one bedroom. The bed was standing in front of a big window, giving her an breathtaking look outside. Eve placed the vase at her bedside table and let herself fall at the bed. It was comfortable and cozy, exactly the way she liked it. Lucy came inside just short after and laid down next to her friend.

„They love us.“ 

„Yes, they do.“ 

„You will go back to Josh, right?“ 

„Of course I will. I thought it was obvious.“

„Actually… you’ve been giving him a pretty tough time, if you put into consideration that it was you who cheated on him.“

„Are you saying I have no right being upset about how he handled things?“ 

Lucy sighed. 

„Disappearing and ignoring you for two weeks was not okay. I’m not denying that fact. But returning his ring and moving out of his house, just because some stupid pictures of him and his ex appeared in the press, was over the top.“ 

„I thought he went back to her, Lu.“

„Okay, I get it. But why you let the situation run out of control when he came to Santa Monica?“

„Both of us screwed up in that moment. We’ve been too emotional and too angry for making peace.“

„And what about the dinner Mat and JT arranged for you? Why you didn’t agree when he asked you for staying away from Justin?“

„Would you have agreed to this kind of condition?“

Lucy was thinking about it, before she answered. 

„Hm… probably not. But still, I would have tried everything to make things right, instead of running away.“ 

Eve needed to admit that her friend was right. Instead of being stubborn, she should have tried harder to convince Josh, that there was no reason for making any conditions. 

„Can I blame my hormones for being a drama queen?“

Lucy smiled lovingly at her. 

„Ya, let’s blame the hormones.“

Eve cracked a smile. 

„Talking about hormones. I’m supporting your decision to keep your baby. But I’m still wondering, what made you change your mind about motherhood.“ Lucy continued talking. 

„Actually, Mateo was very convincing. After his lecture, I was really scared to make the wrong decision. My mind was driving me insane, until I learned to accept the circumstances. It gave me inner peace, Lucy. I understood this was the right thing to do. Not just for Josh, but for me, as well.“

Lucy raised herself a little bit and looked into Eve’s eyes.

„I’m very happy to hear that.“

„Still, I need to be here for a while. I feel so exhausted from all that drama.“ 

„It’s okay. You and me will have a great time together at that beautiful place. I guess both of us deserve some quality time for ourselves. But when you go back home, I expect you to make things right.“

Eve nodded. 

„Good.“ Lucy said.

Then she kissed Eve’s forehead and stood up. 

„Come on, mommy. Let’s have some dinner.“ 

After dinner, the girls returned to their penthouse. Eve was tired and made herself ready for bed. Before going to sleep, she sat down at her private balcony with her phone in her hand. She listened to the waves for a moment, before she started typing. 

„Thank you.“ [Cupcake]

Josh was lying in bed, being lost in thoughts. He had trouble falling asleep as he always did, without having Eve by his side. The sound of an incoming message brought him back to reality. He grabbed his cell from the bedside table and immediately smiled, when he saw Eve’s nickname in the display. 

„For what?“ [Josh]

„The chocolate.“ [Cupcake]

Josh smirked. 

„That’s what impressed you most? I’ll keep it in my mind for further purposes.“ [Josh]

Eve smirked as well. 

„Food is a serious thing recently.“ [Cupcake]

„Believe me, I noticed.“ [Josh]

„Good night, Josh.“ [Cupcake]

„No night is good without you.“ [Josh]

„Same here.“ [Cupcake] 

„Does it mean you miss me?“ [Josh]

„Of course I do.“ [Cupcake]

Eve’s phone suddenly rang. It was him. She smiled and picked up. 

„How much?“ He asked. 

„How much what?“

„How much do you miss me?“ 

„Well. I’m wearing your sweatshirt although we’re having still eighty degrees outside. This is how much.“ 

Josh grinned all over his face.

„Is that true?“

„You wanna proof?“

„Yes.“

Eve started a video call, but the light outside was too low. That’s why she returned into her room and sat down at her bed.“

Josh was happy seeing her face and smiled even harder. The sweatshirt she was wearing was completely black. 

„You’re sure it’s mine?“ He joked. 

„Of course it’s yours. I took it out of the laundry bin.“ 

Josh laughed.

„That’s kind of gross.“ 

„It’s not. Unfortunately your smell almost faded away.“

„You know what?“

„What?“ 

„I sleep on your bedside for the same reason.“ 

„That’s cute.“ 

Josh smiled again. 

„Hey ehm… what are you wearing under my sweatshirt?“ He said next.

„Nothing.“

„Could you proof it, as well?“ 

Eve gave him a skeptical look, trying hard not to smile.

„No.“

„Grinch.“ 

„We’re not having cybersex.“ 

„Why you believe this was my intention?“

„Because I know you.“

Josh raised his blanket a little bit and looked down his body.

„Sorry dude, she said no.“ 

„Are you hard?“

„I am. Wanna proof?“ 

Eve laughed. 

„No, I believe you without any proof.“

„Its a shame. But at least I made you laugh.“ 

Eve gave him a loving look. Then she decided it was time to say goodbye. 

„Good night, Josh. Tell your dude I said hi.“ 

Josh chuckled. 

„Be sure I will. Good night, beautiful.“
