When the elevator reached the upper floor, they stopped kissing and hurried to the penthouse. Eve opened the door. Josh pulled her inside the room. While the door closed itself, he pushed her against the next wall and went down on his knees. Impatiently he got rid of her panties, lifted the her dress and started sucking her hard.

Eve listened carefully, before she replied. 

„Thank you for explaining to me what was going on. I understand now why you did this. And I’m happy you didn’t ignore my messages.“

„I’m sorry the public still believes Jen and I are back together. This was the last thing I wanted to happen to us.“

„Don’t worry about it. I don’t care anymore about what people believe to know. But still, I got a question…“

„Which question?“

„How did you explain to Jen that you’re back in town all alone?“

„I didn’t explain anything. I’m sure she assumed you’re with me in Daytona.“ 

„Oh.“

„Believe me when I say, that we barely talked to each other. I just picked up Bronson the same night when I arrived in Daytona and she offered me to keep him for a while, as she was busy with her new job. But when I returned him to her, someone made that damn shots at the beach.“ 

„Don’t worry. I’m over it.“ 

„There is no single reason why I should have gone back to her. I mean, we broke up before I even met you, Eve.“

„I know I worked up too hard into the rumors. I should have known better.“

„It’s okay.“

They looked at each other for a moment, without talking. Both knew there were still things to clarify concerning Justin. Finally Eve found her courage to start the conversation. 

„Josh… do you still want me to keep myself away from Justin?“ 

He was still staring at her, thinking about how to reply. But then he realized that he needed to be honest, no matter if she liked the answer or not. 

„Yes, I do.“ He said. 

Eve decided not letting the situation run out of control again and forced herself to stay calm.

„Look. He’s your best friend, hanging out at your house whenever he wants, without asking for permission. He even lived with us before Jess left for Montana. How do you want me to stay out of his way, if that’s how things work between you and him?“ 

„It’s not like I’m having a problem when all of us hang out together. But what I can’t bare is the imagination you and him being all alone. It’s killing me, Eve.“ 

She looked at him for a moment, seeing the desperation in his eyes. He was still hurt and obviously not ready giving her all his trust. 

„Okay. You win, Josh. But at some point I want your trust back. I know it needs time. And I promise to be patient and not pushing you. But some day, you need to trust me again.“

„That’s a deal I can live with. Thank you, cupcake.“ He replied calmly and stroke some hair out of her face softly. 

„It’s you who I want. I can’t imagine a life without you because you’re everything to me, Josh.“

He smiled lovingly at her and kissed her forehead. Then he suddenly stood up and looked for his jeans.

„What is happening?“ Eve asked curiously and raised her upper body. 

Josh found his jeans and put something out of his pocket. Then he returned into bed and sat down next to her. 

„Give me your hand, cupcake.“

„Which one?“

„The left.“

Eve did what he asked for. He took her hand and then opened his palm.

„Oh Josh…“ She whispered, being touched by the moment. „You brought my engagement ring?“ 

„It hit me hard when I found this on your vanity table. I really believed I’ve lost you.“

Eve felt suddenly awful, imagining how much he must been hurt in that moment. 

„I believed the same. That’s why I left…“

„I know. But luckily both of us were wrong. So please let me return that ring where it belongs.“

Eve nodded, while her eyes filled with happy tears. 

Josh put the ring back on her finger and kissed her hand gently. She smiled all over her face, being extremely relieved that he still wanted marrying her. 

„Promise me never putting it off again.“

„I promise.“

Josh smiled and kissed her lips gently. 

„I can’t wait to be your wife.“ She added when they released each other. 

„I’m happy to hear that, as I would like to make a suggestion.“ He replied. 

„Which suggestion?“

„I wanna give you my name before you give birth to our baby.“ 

Eve smiled again. 

„Why is this important to you?“

„I just think it’s nice keeping the traditional order.“

„This is really cute, Josh.“

„Does it mean you’re okay with that?“

„Of course I am.“

Josh caressed her face and kissed her again. She kissed him back and raised herself slowly. Then she put her arms around his neck and sat down at his lap. He embraced her naked body, pulling her closer to his chest.
