Eve arrived home early. She entered the living room and found Justin in front of the telly.

„Hey T, is Josh home?“ She asked. 

Justin glanced at her and stopped his Netflix series. 

„He’s having a meeting downtown.“ 

Eve let herself fall next to him at the sofa. Both looked at each other for a moment.

„The group chat…“ Eve finally started talking. 

„What’s with the group chat?“

„How do you feel about it?“

Justin sighed. 

„I’m not mad at C that he told them. If it wasn’t him, it would have been Joey. If one of us screws up, all of us know in the end. It’s unavoidable.“

„But it’s not their business, T…“

„We’re always inferring into each others business, without asking for permission. It’s called family.“ 

Eve smirked. 

„This is kind of cute but… I feel ashamed that they know what we did…“

„Obviously you’re not used to screwing things up. Believe me, next time you’ll feel less ashamed.“ He joked. 

„They will forgive us, right?“

„They already did.“

„What makes you sure?“

„C is okay. That means all of us are okay. And you’re pregnant. They are too happy for you right now, to feel any anger.“ 

„But…“ Eve stopped talking, not knowing how to continue.

Her heart suddenly accelerated. 

„But what?“

She took a deep breath. 

„Do you think someone might believe, the baby is yours?“

She didn’t want to expose at this point, that is what Jess, who made this assumption.  

Justin scoffed. 

„No, I don’t think so. We just made out. And Mateo witnessed it.“ 

„But we made out pretty heavy…“

He stared at her for a moment, knowing exactly what she was having on her mind. Eve was looking back at him, with a concerned look in her eyes.

„M, listen. This is impossible.“ 

„Is it, Justin?“ 

Eve frightened as she heard the front door open up. Josh entered the living area in the next moment, seeing them sitting at the sofa. Both gave him a stern look. 

„What’s up?“ He asked irritated. 

„I remember saying that before. And obviously I was totally right: You are a gossip!“ Eve blamed him. 

Josh came closer, bent down to her and kissed her lips gently.

„So what?“ He said sassy. 

„You could have warned me, at least.“ She replied. 

„It’s not like I planned that. But Lance asked questions.“

„Did you talk to your family about the baby, as well?“ 

„No. I wanted to suggest, you and me going to Orlando and tell them in person. What do you think?“ 

Eve nodded. 

„Yes, it make sense.“

Josh looked at Justin now.

„Are we good?“

„Sure, gossip.“ Justin answered cynically. 

„Joe would have never kept his mouth shut. And you know that.“ Josh replied. 

„Ya, I know.“ 

Few days later. 

„It’s unlikely. Very unlikely.“

„You said that before, remember? And now I’m pregnant.“

The doctor scoffed, while Eve started undressing her jeans for her next ultrasound. 

„Look. I never witnessed a case like this. Of course sperm cells can run through light fabric, but they survive just for a very short moment in water. If there was no intercourse, I don’t see any reason being concerned about what happened.“

Eve sighed relieved. 

„Thank you. Honestly, I worked up into that crazy idea a little to hard. That’s why I needed to hear your opinion.“

The doctor smiled. In the next moment someone knocked at the door.

„Come in.“ The doctor said. 

Josh opened the door slowly.

„Am I too late?“

„No, honey. I was just a little early.“ Eve replied, smiling lovingly at him. 

„It’s nice to meet you, Mr. Chasez.“ The doctor said friendly. 

„Same here.“ He replied. 

„So, let’s get started and see how your baby is doing.“ 

„There is a little person inside your body.“ Josh said to Eve after their appointment.

They were walking together to the parking lot, holding hands. 

„That’s sounds pretty creepy.“ Eve joked.

Josh suddenly stopped and pulled her into his arms, smiling adoringly at her.

„You’re making me the happiest person on earth. You know that, right?“ 

Eve put her arms around his neck, smiling back.

„I’m the happiest person on earth, Josh. Don’t try to push me from my podium.“

„We can share the podium.“

„I’m bad in sharing.“ 

„I noticed, when you ate the giant pizza all by yourself yesterday night.“

„Food is a serious thing, remember?“

„I know. My mistake.“ 

He smiled again and kissed her lips, before they continued walking. 

„I wished we could spend the rest of the day together. But I really need to go back to the office, Josh.“ 

„I know. The boss is always on duty.“ 

They reached Eve’s car in the next moment. She kissed him again gently. 

„See you tonight, daddy.“ 

„See you tonight, mama.“ 

Next Saturday Eve and Josh were on their way to Orlando. Eve was looking forward seeing his family again, but of course she also missed Lucy. 

„Honey, there is one thing we still need to do, before we marry.“ Josh said, when the aircraft started. 

„Which thing?“ She asked curiously.

„Visiting your mom and dad in Germany.“

Eve rolled her eyes. It was not like she’ve forgotten about that topic, but she didn’t plan to bring it up voluntarily. 

„Look.“ She said, making a short pause. „It’s okay taking short flights while being pregnant, if there’s no other way. But going to Germany is another level. I don’t wanna risk our baby’s health, Josh.“

„Hm.“ He replied, giving her a skeptical look.

„What that supposed to mean?“

„You made a good point. But still, it feels like a lame excuse.“ 

„It’s both.“ Eve confessed. 

„Why you don’t want introducing me to your folks, hon?“

„We already discussed this once. It’s not about you. I simply don’t have a good relationship to my mom. That’s all.“

Josh looked at her for a moment.

„Did something happened you didn’t tell me, yet?“ He asked carefully.

Eve sighed. 

„Yes. But if I tell you this, I’m afraid you will freak out.“ 

Josh was a little concerned. 

„What happened, Eve?“ 

She took another deep breath.

„You really wanna know?“

Josh nodded.

„My mom blames me for killing Tom.“ 

„WHAT???“

„See! You’re freaking out!“

„I’m not freaking out, Eve! I’m shocked! Why is she doing this?!“

„Tom was her darling. She was obsessed with him. Sometimes I’ve had the impression she loved him more than she loved me.“

Josh was processing what he just learned. Then he calmed down a little. 

„Honey, you never told me about Tom. I have no idea what kind of person he was.“

„Well, I didn’t know this was something you were interested in.“

„Of course I am curious who the man was, you decided to spend the rest of your life with.“ 

„Then why you didn’t ask earlier?“

„Because I didn’t want to open wounds. I was afraid to upset you.“ 

Eve smiled. 

„Don’t worry about it. I’ve had enough time to get over him.“

„So… do you wanna tell me few things to give me a picture?“

Eve nodded. Suddenly there was a loving smile in here face when her mind drifted away in her memories. Josh watched her patiently, waiting for her to start. 

„Maybe you think you and him would have some things in common, but the truth is, you don’t.“ Eve finally said. 

Josh frowned. 

„What does it mean?“
