Eve turned into Justin’s direction, staring at him. 

He understood that she was deeply confused. No one of them expected Josh getting his memory back out of the blue. 

„Justin… I don’t know what to do…“ She whined. 

He pulled her into his arms and hugged her tightly. She embraced him as well and cried. 

When Josh left their suite, he suddenly run into Kristin, who just returned from breakfast, having Jake in his stroller. Both exchanged irritated glances. 

Kristin tried to sort her mind. Why was Josh coming out of Eve’s and Justin’s suite? She scanned him from head to toe, wondering if he’ve spent the night in their room. 

Josh looked at Jake, who was smiling happily at him. He raised his little arms in his direction. 

„Da-da… da-da…“ 

While Kristin was processing, Josh knelt down in front of Jake. He stared at his son like seeing him for the very first time in his life. 

„Da-da…“ 

Josh took him out of his stroller and hugged him tightly, while sudden tears were dropping onto his checks. 

„I’m so sorry…“ He whispered and kissed Jake’s little head. „I’m so sorry…“ 

Kristin’s confusion reached its peak. Still staring at Josh, she tried hard to understand what was happening. 

„I will make things up to you… I promise I’ll make things right…“ Josh continued talking to his son. 

„Joshua.“ Kristin said. „You remember.“

He looked at her, still crying.

„Yes.“

„Jesus Christ.“ Kristin sighed. „What now?“

Josh kissed Jake’s head again. 

„I totally fucked up, Kristin… I fucked everything up…“ 

„Did you ask my daughter to give you another chance?“ 

„How should I ask for another chance? I don’t deserve another chance.“

„Did she say that?“ 

Josh shook his head. 

„We didn’t talk about it.“

Kristin frowned.

„Then why have you been in their room?“ 

Josh’s heart skipped a beat. 

„Ummm…“

She raised her eyebrows.

„What happened tonight, Joshua?“ 

„Listen, I don’t wanna talk about this.“ 

He looked into Jake’s happy face and kissed his head again. 

„I love you so much…“ 

Jake giggled and grabbed his nose. 

„Da-da…“

Josh smiled at him calmly. 

„Yes, this is me. And I’ll dedicate my life being the best dad you could ever imagine.“

Then he put Jake back into his stroller.

„I need to go.“ He said to Kristin. 

„Joshua!“ Kristin replied to make him stop. 

He looked at her again, waiting for her to talk.

„This is your kid. And Eve is your wife. Justin is a good boy. But he made a big mistake. Enough time got wasted. You need to do something.“

„It’s not that simple, Kristin. Our friendship is on the line.“ 

„Didn’t you listen what I’ve said? She’s yours. If he doesn’t respect that, your friendship is worthless anyway.“ 

Justin and Eve were sitting next to each other at their bed. She stopped crying and asked herself how to move on with the new circumstances. Justin looked at her, being aware of, that she felt terribly torn. 

„Baby… we need to talk about this…“ He said carefully. 

Eve looked at him. 

„I love you. Nothing changed.“ 

„The question is, do you love me enough?“ 

„Yes. I love you enough.“ 

Justin gave her a calm smile, before he continued talking. 

„Look. C is back with all his love for you. He’s not just trying to make the right thing and take responsibility for you and Jake. He wants you because you are the one for him. He wants you because he doesn’t want anyone else but you.“

„I still don’t understand what you’re trying to say.“ 

„I’m trying to say, that he will do anything to get you back.“ 

Eve sorted her mind.

„Do you believe I’ll be unable to resist him?“ 

„Yes.“

Eve stared at him, not knowing how to react. Justin wasn’t naive. He knew what he was dealing with. And he deserved honesty.

„I wanted my husband back for so long. Knowing, that he’s finally the man I used to know feels incredible. But I also see you and me.“

„Means?“ 

„He disappointed me so much, Justin. I understand why and I try hard not to blame him. But the truth is, I’m still recovering from all the shit he put me through. And at the same time, I remember and value all things you did for me. From the day Jake was born, you’ve been by my side. This is meaningful, Justin. I can’t just go back to Josh like nothing ever happened between you and me. What kind of person would I be, if I could?“

„I understand what you’re saying. And I believe that you don’t wanna give up on us. But this is C. He will fight for your heart as long as it takes.“ 

„All I see right now is him running away, as he always does when things get difficult.“

„He’s not running away. He’s just processing. There are a lot of things to handle right now. I mean… you’ve just spent the night with both of us…“

Eve looked at him for a moment.

„How do you feel about it?“ 

„You mean, sharing you in bed with my best friend?“ 

She nodded. 

„I can deal with that.“

Eve raised her eyebrows.

„It sounds like it wasn’t a big deal for you.“

Justin sighed. 

„Doing this with C was okay for me. Both of us wanted to give you that pleasure. You love us and that’s why I understand that it was thrilling for you making this kind of experience.“

Eve was processing hard. 

„Did you and him do this before, Justin?“ 

He bit his lips.

„Look… we lived very extraordinary lives when we’ve been young. I’m not saying this happened before exactly the same way, but… having a private life and having serious relationships was almost impossible. So… we didn’t take things seriously and sometimes we lost our inhibitions and… I should stop talking right now… shouldn’t I…?“ 

Eve stared at him in deep shock.

„Ya… you better keep the rest to yourself…“ 

„Listen. This was okay because it happened with C. I would have never done that with anyone else.“ Justin added. 

She just nodded, still processing. 

Justin glanced at the buzzer at the bedside table. 

„Baby… we slept terribly late… my jet is already waiting.“ He noticed. 

Eve sighed with deep frustration. 

„I don’t want you to go.“ 

Justin grabbed her chin gently.

„Use the next weeks to think about what you really want.“ 

„Justin…“

„Please, Eve.“ He interrupted her. „You need to think.“ 

He kissed her forehead gently and stood up. 

„I slept with Josh.“ She suddenly said. 

Justin frowned, waiting for more information.

„I slept with him this morning. I expected you waking up hearing us, but you didn’t… so it happened without you…“ 

„It’s okay.“ Justin answered. „If you wanna have sex with him, do so. Please just be honest with me. This is all I expect from you.“

Again Eve was in deep shock. 

„Why would you let me have sex with him?“ 

Justin cupped her face. 

„I love you. And I’m not giving up on us. But I also see what you’re going through right now. That’s why I’m giving you the freedom you need to make your choices. But be aware of, once you did, it’s settled.“

Josh took a taxi and returned home to his parent’s place. Karen was preparing some lunch while Roy was busy in the garden. 

„Hey sweetheart. How was the wedding?“ Karen asked, as he entered the kitchen. 

Josh sat down at the kitchen island and grabbed his head. Karen gave him a concerned look.

„Is everything okay?“ 

„My memory is back, mom.“

Karen almost dropped the plates in her hands. She put them aside and rushed into his direction. Then she hugged him close.

„Josh, this is awesome! All your hard work finally paid off! I’m so happy for you!“ 

When they released each other, Karen realized that her son must feel upset about the decisions he made during his amnesia. She gave him a calm smile and stroke his cheek. 

„You made mistakes, Josh. But Eve will forgive you, because she loves you with all of her heart.“ She said to cheer him up. 

Josh shook his head. 

„Things changed, mom… she…“ 

Josh hesitated to finish his sentence. 

„What is it, sweetheart?“ 

„She’s with Justin.“ 

Karen’s heart dropped to the floor. 

„What did you say?“ 

„They are together. I lost her.“ 

„It makes no sense. Justin would never do this to you.“

„For some reason he believed, that I went to Florida to be with Jen.“ 

„Oh no… Josh… I’m so sorry…“ 

Josh’s eyes filled with tears again. 

„What do I do now? I don’t know what to do… not having her is killing me… she’s the air I breath, mom…“   

„Are you sure it’s Justin who she really wants?“ 

„She still loves me. But she loves him as well. I can’t expect her to leave him and to come back to me like nothing ever happened.“

„Look, honey. I can imagine she’s completely flustered now. She needs time to sort her mind. All of you do.“
