Mateo finished work early in the afternoon, while Eve was engrossed in a new project. Suddenly someone knocked at the door and brought her back to reality.

„Yes?“

The door opened up and Josh entered the room. Eve’s heart skipped a beat. 

„Hi.“ He said calmly, piercing her with his beautiful eyes. 

„Josh.“ Eve replied. „What are you doing here?“ 

„I just arrived in L.A. T dropped me off.“ He explained, coming few steps closer. 

They looked at each other for a moment. Eve didn’t know what to say. 

„I wanted to see you and apologize for not calling back.“ Josh continued talking. 

Eve started smiling all over her face without even noticing. Josh smiled back shyly. 

„Hey, ummm… what about having dinner together, when you finish work?“ He asked. 

„Oh, I would love to… but I have yoga tonight.“ She answered. 

„Since when you do yoga?“

„I just started. It was a gift to my birthday from Lance and Michael. But the best part is, they agreed watching Jake when I’m busy with my class.“

„Hey, listen. I could watch Jake tonight.“ 

Eve looked at him surprised. 

„Really?“ 

„Yes, I mean… I can change diapers now and I’m confident that I’ll manage making some bread with Leberwurst… so…“ 

Eve smiled again.

„Okay. Looks like you’re qualified for that job. I’ll bring him to your place half past six.“

Josh smiled back. 

„Where is Jake now?“

„He’s making a nap in his nursery.“ 

There was a short break. Both looked at each other, still smiling. 

„Thank you, Eve.“

„You don’t need to thank me to see your son, Josh. You can have him whenever you want. Just let me know.“ 

„Really?“

„Of course… oh… before I forget… I got something for you…“ She replied.

Then she put her bag out of the drawer and took the envelope with Jake’s paternity test result outside. 

„Here.“

Josh took the envelope, reading the handwritten note on it. He noticed it was still closed. 

„Eve, no. I don’t need this. I’m not doubting, that Jake is mine.“ 

Then he gave the envelope back to her. 

„Are you sure?“ 

„Yes, I’m sure.“ 

Again they just looked at each other. 

„So… see you later?“ He asked. 

„Yes, see you later.“ 

Eve was nervous, when she stopped her car in front of Josh’s gateway to ring the bell. He opened up quickly.

While she was busy putting Jake out of his baby seat, Josh opened the front door and smiled. With the baby on one arm and his diaper bag in the other she came closer, smiling back. 

„Da-da! Da-da!“ Jake said excited, seeing Josh. 

Eve stopped standing in front of him with her eyes wide open. Jake reached his arms out for Josh. He took his son on his arm and kissed his temple. 

„Did he just called you Da-da?“ She asked in disbelief. 

„He’s doing it every time he sees me.“ Josh said proudly.

„That’s unbelievable… I mean… I told him who you are, but I didn’t expect him to remember…“ 

„He’s a smart boy, aren’t you?“ Josh said, kissing Jake's head once again. 

„Da-da…“

Eve smiled adoringly at them. Her heart was melting seeing them together. 

„Please come in.“ Josh said, smiling back at her. 

„Oh… no… I’m a little late already. Look, everything you need is in his bag. And if you should need any help, Lance and Mike are on call.“

Josh nodded, taking the bag. 

Enjoy your yoga class, cupcake.“

Eve’s butterflies got out of control, hearing him call her this way. She stared at him a little too long, getting lost in his beautiful eyes. 

Josh was aware of what he was doing to her and enjoyed the moment. 

„You’re sure you don’t wanna come in?“

„Ummm… ya… I need to go…“

„Okay. Have fun.“ 

Ya… you, too.“ 

Eve left and Josh went inside with Jake. He brought him into the kitchen and put him in his high chair. 

„Listen, buddy. I got a plan. You wanna hear it?“ Josh talked to his son. 

Jake looked at him and smiled happily. 

I want you and mommy moving back home. Do you think you can help me manage that?“ 

„Da-da!“ 

„I know I need to make things right to you and mommy first. But you can be sure of, that I’ll work very very hard on it, okay?“ 

Josh kissed Jake’s little head again. He giggled. 

„You and mommy are my world. I love you with all of my heart and no matter what happens, nothing will ever change that.“ 

Two hours later, Josh’s doorbell rang again. He hurried into the hall and opened up.

„Hey.“ Eve said, smiling. „I let myself on your property, I hope you don’t mind.“ 

„Of course not. This is still your home, Eve.“

Her heart started beating fast. She didn’t know how to reply. Josh noticed she was overwhelmed and changed the subject. 

„Look, I just made some quick dinner. Would you like to join me?“ He asked. 

She gave him a skeptical look.

„You made dinner?“ 

„It’s just a salad. I can make salad.“

„Since when you can make salad?“ She teased. 

Josh rolled his eyes and grabbed her hand to pull her inside. Then he closed the door. 

„She slipped out of her sneakers quickly and followed him into the kitchen.“

„Where’s the baby?“ 

„Which baby?“ Josh joked. 

„Didn’t I bring a baby?“ 

„Oh! That baby! He’s upstairs in his room, making a nap.“ 

„What? No! He can’t making a nap now. I will have trouble to make him fall asleep when we return home.“

Josh turned uneasy. 

„I’m sorry, I didn’t know.“  

Eve immediately calmed down. 

„No, it’s my fault. I forgot telling you.“ 

„Is this really a problem?“ 

Eve sighed. 

„Maybe I’ll manage to put him into the car without waking him up.“

„Or… you just stay the night…“ 

Eve looked at him, again not knowing how to react. 

„As I said, this is still your home.“ Josh added. 

„I don’t want hurt Justin.“ Eve answered. 

„I’m not talking about sleeping with me, Eve. I mean, you can if you want, but as you know there are two bedrooms upstairs.“ 

Eve just smiled. She decided not getting deeper into that topic and glanced at the kitchen counter. Then she raised her eyebrows.

„That’s the salad you’ve been talking about?“

„It’s not finished, yet.“ Josh defended his food. 

Eve tried hard not to laugh. 

„This is the saddest salad I’ve ever seen.“ She teased. 

Josh looked into the bowl. 

„I admit it’s not looking good. But I’m positive about the taste.“ 

Eve thought it was brutally cute, that he tried making dinner to make her stay. She went to the fridge and realized there was nothing inside for plan B. 

„Let’s just place an order.“ She suggested. 

„Really? You don’t even give it a try?“ 

Eve laughed, leaning against the kitchen island. 

„I order pizza. You can eat your vegetable massacre if you want.“ 

Josh gave her a serious look. Then he came closer, stopped standing in front of her and pushed his body gently against hers. Eve’s heart immediately dropped. 

„Fuck.“ She thought, not knowing how to behave. 

Josh raised his right hand and stroke some hair out of her face. Then he kissed her cheek and smiled.

„I missed your teasing, cupcake.“ 

She bit her lower lip and stared at his mouth, being l dangerously close to hers. His irresistible scent made her feel dizzy. 

„You have such an easy game with her. All you need is to kiss her…“ Josh was thinking.

But then he thought about Justin and stepped back. He felt like breaking their deal by playing with her desire for him. 

„The same pizza as always?“ He asked, giving her another charming smile. 

Eve nodded, recovering from their intimate moment. Josh grabbed his phone and called the delivery service. 

„Why he stopped?“ Eve was thinking.
