Jessica woke up by the sound of Justin’s voice and opened her eyes wide.

„What’s wrong?“ She asked and sat down next to him.

He stared at her like seeing a ghost.

„Are you naked?“ He asked with shaky voice, already knowing the answer.

„We both are.“ Jessica replied.

Justin let himself fall back at his pillow.

„FUCK!!!“ He screamed again and grabbed his face.

„Could you please stop yelling? You wake up the boys.“

He took another deep breath, having big trouble remembering what exactly happened last night.

„How much wine did we drink?“ He asked in deep frustration.

„A lot.“ Jessica answered.

„How could I let that happen? I ruined everything…“ He blamed himself.

„Could you please stop wining?“ She said annoyed.

„This was it… she’ll never forgive me doing this to her…“

Jessica rolled her eyes.

„Do you even remember what happened?“

He looked at her, shaking his head.

„Not really… but it’s obvious…“

„You’re getting old, Justin. Since when you have blackouts after drinking?“

„You better explain to me how the fuck we landed in bed.“

Jessica took a deep breath, before she begun.

„After two glasses you finally opened up and told me what was going on with you, Eve and C.“

Justin raised his eyebrows.

„How much did I tell you?“

„Not much at the beginning. But after the third glass you became pretty chatty.“

Justin shook his head and grabbed his face again. Jessica continued talking.

„When we finished the second bottle, you realized that your life turned into a giant mess.“

„Jesus…“

„However, it made me jealous how you’ve been talking about Eve. Like she was the most precious thing in the world…“

„I’m not sure, if I wanna hear the rest…“

Jessica moved on.

„I said it was hurting me listening to this. Then you suddenly apologized for giving up on our marriage that easily. You said that you regretted seeing yourself just as a victim and admitted, that you made mistakes, as well. I truly believed in this moment, that you wished things came different. It made me emotional and I started crying…“

„Shit… Jess…“

„You pulled me into your arms to comfort me and then… I kissed you…“

Justin turned sick. He didn’t want to listen to the rest of the story, but he knew that he needed to face all dirty facts.

„You hesitated. But then I said, if it was okay for Eve sleeping with her husband, there shouldn’t be a problem when you do the same with your wife…“

„Ex wife…“

„Really, Justin?“

„Just saying…“

„We went upstairs, undressed each other and started making out. And then there was nothing…“

Justin frowned, being completely lost.

„What do you mean, there was nothing?“

„Maybe it was the wine or your bad conscience… or the combination of both…“

„Are you saying, I didn’t get hard?“ He asked in disbelief.

„Yap…“

Justin grabbed his face once again and deeply sighed.

„This is unbelievable…“

„That was exactly what I was thinking.“

„To make things clear, there was no kind of sex? I didn’t do anything else to please you?“

„You completely killed the mood, Justin.“

„Honestly, I don’t know what to say, Jess.“

„You don’t need to say anything.“

Jessica stood up in the next moment. He looked at her naked body, which he knew so well. Then she put on her bathrobe.

„You can stay for breakfast. The boys will be happy to spend a little more time with you.“

Justin nodded. Jessica turned around and went into the bathroom.

Eve woke up in a patient’s bed a needed few seconds to sort her mind.

„Was this just a weird dream?“ She was thinking.

Here you are again. I brought you some water.“ She heard a familiar voice saying.

She turned her head to her right and saw Monica coming closer.

„Where am I?“ Eve asked.

„Trauma room.“ Monica explained.

„Trauma room?“

„You collapsed in the doctor’s office. He called for help and they brought you here.“

Eve raised her upper body slowly.

„Drink.“ Monica said, giving her the water.

Eve emptied the glass in one go.

„Monica, listen. There must be a misunderstanding…“

Before the nurse could say anything, the doctor entered the room with a piece of paper in his hand. Monica glanced at him and noticed, that he wanted her to leave. She gave Eve a short smile and then disappeared.

The doctor sat down next to Eve and took a deep breath.

„Here.“ He said, giving her a copy of Jake’s paternity test result.

Eve took the document with shaky hands and started reading:

Joshua Scott Chasez does not show the genetic markers which have to be present for the biological father of the child Jake Chasez. The probability of Joshua Scott Chasez being the biological father of Jake Chasez is 0,00%. Based on our analysis, it is practically proven that Joshua Scott Chasez is not the father of the child Jake Chasez.

Eve felt like throwing up any second. This just couldn’t be true. This must be a giant mistake.

„Doctor.“ She said with shaky voice. „I didn’t have sex with Justin at that time. All we did was making out in the water in swim wear. He’ve had an orgasm but my gynecologist explained, that it was nearly impossible getting pregnant this way.“

„Look.“ The doctor said calmly. „It’s very unlikely that the test result is wrong. Of course we can do another one if you wish, but honestly spoken, I don’t see any reason questioning this result.“

Eve started crying badly.

„This is a disaster. This is just another giant disaster…“

„Why you didn’t read the test result when you received it?“ The doctor wanted to know.

Because I’ve had no single doubt that Jake is from Josh. When I gave Josh the envelope, he said he believes me and returned it to me, without opening it up, either.“ Eve explained.

The doctor sighed and padded her shoulder.

„I’m very sorry for shocking you.“ He apologized.

„My life is completely fucked up… I don’t know how to deal with all of that…“ She whined.

„That’s just another good reason seeing Dr. Brown as soon as possible.“

„I need to go. My car just arrived.“ Justin said, finishing his cup of coffee.

Silas and Phin jumped up from their chairs and climbed at his lap.

„Please don’t go, daddy!“ Silas begged, while Phin was hugging his neck so tightly, that he barely was able to breath.

„Daddy needs to work.“ Jessica said, sitting next to Justin at the dining table.

Both boys slowly released him. Justin kissed their heads and stood up.

„When my tour is over, I promise to make a trip with you somewhere, okay?“

Both nodded. Justin looked at Jessica. She forced a smile.

„Hey, listen…“ He said, but she interrupted him.

„Nothing happened, Justin.“

„Thank you.“

He bent down and gave her a peck on her cheek. Then he hugged his kids once again and left the house.

Eve entered her office and let herself fall at her chair. She wasn’t able focusing on work, but she needed to show up as she left Jake with Sarah and Mateo. While she stared at her black screen being lost in thoughts, Mateo entered the room with Jake on his arm.

„Thank god, mommy is back.“ He said relieved.

Eve looked at them. Mateo came closer and gave her the baby.

„He doesn’t like me. Every time I make a silly face, he starts screaming.“ Mateo complained.

Eve stared into Jake’s little face, like seeing him for the first time. Mateo watched the scene.

„What’s wrong?“ He wanted to know.

„Nothing.“

„Did something happen at the clinic? You look flustered.“

Eve looked at her friend and decided not to talk about what just happened. She just couldn’t.

„Matty, I need few days off. I hope you don’t mind.“

„Of course I don’t mind. But will you explain why?“

„I’m just not feeling well.“

„Eve, what’s going on?“ He asked concerned.

„I need some time for myself to figure things out. I can’t live like this anymore.“

„I understand. It’s a good idea just focusing on your therapy. Do you have an appointment, yet?“

„No, but the doctor said, he’ll make sure I can see his colleague shortly.“

„That’s good. Take your time as long as it takes and don’t worry about work. I’ve got things under control.“

„Thank you, Matty. I owe you.“
