Eve was sitting next to Justin at the sofa, processing the latest news. JC brought some drinks, before sitting down at the armchair opposite of them. 

„I know it sounds stupid, but… how did that happen?“ he asked his friend. 

Justin looked at him for a short moment. 

„Jess found out when we already broke up. She said she was stressed about her current project and didn’t pay attention to all screaming signs. However, it was already too late for making choices. She was scared talking to me about it. That’s why she waited that long to tell me.“ 

Eve was just watching the scene.

„How far is she now? JC wanted to know next. 

„Fifth month.“ 

„T… you two broke up because she wanted kids, but you didn’t. Did she just ignore how you felt about that topic?“ 

Justin lowered his head. 

„There was one night when both of us were terribly drunk, joining a party. I didn’t have a condom with me…“ 

There was silence for a moment. 

„What now? Will you go back to her and raise that kid together?“ JC finally continued asking. 

„Is this what you recommend?“ 

„Yes, I do. We both know you have still feelings for her, T.“  

Justin grabbed his face, resting his elbows at his thighs. 

„It’s scares me as fuck being a dad so soon. I have no idea how this works.“

JC smiled calmly. 

„You’ll figure this out, man. There’s nothing on that planet you can’t do.“ 

Justin looked at him, still being tensed. 

„You really think that?“

„You know I do.“ 

There was another pause. 

„My mom will freak out.“

JC nodded. Then he looked deep into his best friend’s eyes.

„Go back to Jess and make things right. Don’t let her alone with this during the holidays.“ 

Justin was sorting his mind. 

„Okay,“ he finally said. 

„Congrats,“ Eve dared saying. 

Justin looked at her.

„What about you, drama queen?“ he changed the subject. „Looks like you figured things out, hm?“ 

She raised her eyebrows.

„I’m not the drama queen in this room and you know it.“

„Excuse me?“ JC said, acting outraged. 

Both looked at him.

„Ya, guess you’re right,“ Justin teased. 

JC gave both a warning look and made them smile. 

„Hey um… I want to thank you for your help, Justin.“ Eve said next. "I really appreciate what you did, even if it was super creepy letting your driver following me to Sandra’s place.“

Justin chuckled. 

„I’m happy things worked out.“

Then he stood up to say goodbye. Eve and JC did as well. 

He hugged JC first and then Eve, wishing both a great time in Orlando. As he finally left the house, Eve and JC looked at each other, still processing the latest news.

„So, you’ll be a godfather soon, hm?“ she said. 

„It’s really crazy this is happening. But I truly believe both will be good.“ 

Eve came closer and embraced his body. He did the same to her. 

„Are you a kids person, Josh?“ she wanted to know. 

He raised his eyebrows and smiled. 

„Really? You’re asking for a baby that soon?“ 

She rolled her eyes.

„This was not my question.“

He smiled harder. 

„You’re sure?“

„JC…“ 

„I like kids. And I hope you do, as well,“ he finally answered.

She bit her lower lip and nodded. He kissed her forehead, still smiling. 

„I’m happy we clarified that.“
