Silas was still staring at Eve. Did she just admit, that she made a terrible mistake back in those days? 

She wiped away her tears, feeling a little embarrassed about her emotional outburst. 

„I’m not blaming you,“ Silas finally said. „I don’t wanna justify anything but… today I know you and dad meant well… for both of us…“ 

Eve was deeply surprised to hear him say that.

„I didn’t expect you seeing things this way. I mean, it’s true. We just meant well, but we’ve had no right…“

„It’s too late for regrets, M,“ he interrupted her. 

In the next moment the doorbell rang. 

„Nash probably forgot his keys,“ Eve said.

She stood up and went into the hall. As she opened the front door, she was deeply irritated to see Phin standing in front of her.

„What are you doing here?“

Phin didn’t answer. He pushed the door open and rushed into the living room. Silas immediately noticed what was going on. He stood up from the sofa, seeing his brother coming closer. 

„Phin…“

In the next second Phin raised his fist and punched his brother’s face. Silas stumbled. His nose immediately begun bleeding. 

„WHAT THE HELL, PHIN?!“ Eve yelled, entering the living room.

She grabbed his arm to stop him punching his brother again.

„I wished you never came back!!!“ He shouted, looking at Silas with deep disgust. 

„Phin, for god’s sake! What happened?!“ Eve continued asking him. 

Silas wiped the blood out of his face. 

„I didn’t know,“ he said to his brother. „I swear, I didn’t know she was with you.“ 

Eve suddenly understood what must have happened. She released Phin’s arm, getting lost in thoughts.

„Good lord…“

„I’m not taking her away from you, Phin. I already told her there is no way,“ Silas continued explaining. 

Phin scoffed.

„You fucked my girlfriend! Do you really expect me to move on like nothing happened?!“ he blamed his brother. 

„She still loves you. And she needs you,“ Silas replied. 

„BULLSHIT!!!“ Phin shouted. „I’m just her second choice! If you didn’t dismiss her, she wouldn’t have hesitated for a single second to get rid of me!“ 

Silas didn’t know how to reply. Phin wasn’t naive, exactly knowing what was going on in Lisa’s mind.

„Phin,“ Eve tried again to get his attention. „What happened at home?“

He looked at her, seeing she was deeply concerned about the whole situation. 

„I broke up with her.“ 

Eve’s eyes immediately filled with tears again. She imagined Lisa’s desperation and panicked. Without saying another word, she rushed out of Nash’s apartment. 

„Fuck…“ Silas scoffed. 

He blamed himself that he believed Lisa would keep quiet about cheating on Phin. Her behavior was far away from being perfect. But she was always honest and taking responsibility for her mistakes.

„This is all my fault. If I didn’t show up at her party… good lord Phin… she didn’t know what she was doing… she was completely flustered…“ Silas tried to put the blame on himself. 

„Stop that shit, Si,“ Phin replied. „She knew exactly was she was doing. She betrayed both of us.“

Silas grabbed his face, taking a deep breath. Then he looked at his brother again. 

„But still we love her.“ 

Phin’s eyes filled with tears. He let himself fall at the sofa, trying to sort his mind. Silas sat down next to him, giving him some time to process. 

„I’m sorry for punching you,“ Phin finally said. 

Silas cracked a smile. 

„I deserved that.“ 

„Ya… you did…“ 

Silas turned serious again.

„Bro… please look at me…“ 

Phin turned his head in Silas’s direction. 

„I know you broke up with her, just because you’ve been in deep anger. It’s not too late to make things right.“ 

„Si, for god’s sake. It’s you who she wants. And she’ll never change her mind, no matter what I do. I’ll never be good enough.“ 

„But I can’t be with her. I could never hurt you this way. I just can’t.“ 

„You don’t need to feel obligated caring about my feelings. You had her first.“

„But then I disappeared and left a giant mess behind.“ 

Phin nodded, drifting back in time. 

„It took two damn years, until she opened up to me. I drowned her with my love until she finally gave in.“ 

Silas sighed. He decided it was time giving his brother the whole truth. 

„Look. I knew about your feelings for her. When I came back from London, I could see you were ready to put everything on one card and make her yours. But I wanted her as well and took the chance before you did.“

Phin gave him a surprised look. 

„How did you know that I wanted her? I never talked anyone about it, accept Jake.“

„The way you looked at her exposed everything, bro. You had a crush on her, before you even knew what love is.“ 

„It’s true. But all she ever wanted was you.“
