August, 2040

The same day, after talking about Lisa with Jake in the garage, Silas asked her to meet him at their lonely beach. He was already there, sitting in the sand, waiting for her to arrive.

Lisa parked her car and went to the beach, seeing him from distance.

„Hey,“ she said, sitting down next to him.

She noticed immediately, that he was tensed.

„Are you okay?“

Silas looked at her.

„Jake knows.“

Lisa’s heart skipped a beat. She wondered how Silas found out.

„Why you didn’t tell me, that he caught me on camera?“ he wanted to know.

„I… I was scared how you would react…“

„This is not how things work, Tink. I expect you to be honest about everything, if you want this relationship to work,“ he replied, sounding more harsh than he intended to be.

„He won’t tell anyone. Jake would never do anything to harm us. You must believe me…“

„This is not what I am worrying about,“ Silas interrupted her. „This is about you hiding things from me!“

„I’m sorry, Si.“

„That’s not enough. I don’t know how to trust you, if you behave like that."

Lisa slowly turned upset as well, don’t understanding why he worked up into this so hard.

„Really? You question my reliability because of this?“

He gave her a stern look.

„I have the feeling you still don’t understand the risk I am taking to be with you. We can’t afford any mistakes. If the wrong person finds out, I’m screwed!“

„Of course I know the risks. How can you say that?“

„Then why you act like this, hm? Why you hide things from me?“

„Because I trust my brother. I didn’t see any reason getting concerned, that he might bring us into trouble.“

„You’re not the one deciding, if someone is a risk or not!“

Lisa was outraged about the way he was talking to her.

„Stop treating me like a kid!“

„Then stop acting like one!“

Lisa stood up, having tears in her eyes.

„That’s exactly the reason I didn’t tell you! I knew you would freak out! I was terrified you would leave me, not willing to take the risk any longer!“

Then she turned around and run back to the parking lot.

Silas decided letting her go. He needed time to sort his mind.

Lisa arrived home and rushed inside the house. On her way upstairs she passed Jake, who returned home little earlier.

„Hey, what happened to you?“ he asked concerned, seeing that she’ve been crying.

„You happened!“ she hissed and continued walking.

Jake turned around and followed her into her bedroom. She let herself fall at her bed and begun crying again. Jake closed the door and sat down at the edge next to her.

„Liz, for god’s sake. What happened?“

She gave him a reproachful look.

„Why you talked to Silas?“

Jake sighed.

„I didn’t want to cause any harm, Lizzy. The only thing I wanted was making sure, that he’s having serious intentions. I didn’t want you getting hurt in any kind.“

„He’s blaming me for not telling him, that you know. He says he can’t trust me.“

Jake gave her a calm look.

„I’m sure he’s just little out of mind, that I caught you. Give him some time to get used to it.“

„What, if he breaks up with me because of this? He was really upset, Jakey.“

„That’s ridiculous. He told me that he loves you with all of his heart. Don’t work up into your fight that hard. Having arguments is part of a relationship. It happens, Lizzy.“

Lisa didn’t leave her bed for hours. She felt pity for herself and was too proud getting in touch with Silas. In her opinion it was his call making things right.

Short after midnight she was still awake, watching a movie. Suddenly there was a knock at her locked window. Her heart immediately accelerated. She stood up to let Silas inside.

Of course she was relieved that he showed up. At the same time she was still deeply hurt about how their conversation at the beach ended. He gave her a regretful look, before he entered her bedroom.

„Hey…“

„Hey…“

Lisa turned away and crawled back into bed. Silas putt off his shoes and laid down next to her.

„You have every right being upset. I was a dick,“ he said calmly.

She looked at him, waiting for him to move on.

„The thing is… I wasn’t mad at you. I was mad at myself, that I was stupid enough getting caught. You didn’t ask me to take the risk and break into your house through the window. The blame is on me. I know I completely overreacted.“

Lisa smiled and fell around his neck. She was incredibly relieved, that they were good again. Silas hugged her back tightly. As they released each other, he gave her a concerned look.

„There was one thing which shocked me,“ he said.

„Which thing?“

„That you believe I would give up on us when things get tough.“

„I’m sorry I feel this way, Si. But as long as we need to hide our love, I will always be scared things may be over when we do a mistake.“

„Lizzy, listen to me. No matter what happens, I will not stop loving you. And to show you how serious I am and did this…“

In the next moment Silas pulled up the long sleeve of his shirt to show her his inner wrist.

„Good lord, Si…“ she stammered in pure disbelief.

She grabbed his wrist to take a closer look. There was a small picture from Tinkerbell, being tattooed on his skin.

„I can’t believe you did this…“

Silas smiled calmly.

„It’s my proof of love to you.“

She looked in his eyes.

„Did it hurt?“

Silas chuckled.

„Like hell.“

Again she fell around his neck.

„I can’t express with words what I feel right now. It’s overwhelming,“ she sobbed, while happy tears were dropping on her cheeks.

He released her and cupped her face gently.

„You’re the only one for me, Tinkerbell. There is no single doubt.“
