While the rest of them continued joking about Lisa’s and Silas’s birth control failures, Phin went into the kitchen to sort his mind. He took a glass out of the cupboard, filled it with tap water and drunk in one go.

Silas’s noticed his brother’s tension and followed him into the kitchen.

„Hey, man,“ he said to Phin. „Are you good?“ 

Phin just looked at him. 

„You can tell me, if this is too much for you. I understand,“ Silas added. 

„It is too much for me. But don’t worry. I’ll find a way to deal with it.“ 

„My conscience is still killing me.“ 

„I gave you my blessing and I meant it, Si. Stop making yourself crazy.“ 

„I can’t stop making myself crazy, as long as you’re struggling with the situation.“ 

They looked at each other for a moment.

„She’s unbelievably happy. Only you are able making her feel this way. I want you to give her this joy for the rest of your life. Promise me that,“ Phin finally said. 

„I promise,“ Silas replied. „You have my word.“ 

Then he came closer and hugged his brother. 

„So… tell me what to expect,“ Phin changed the subject. „Will you walk down the aisle like normal people or will you sit on an unicorn?“ 

Silas laughed. 

„I don’t know… but... at some point she mentioned gray horses… and a carriage.“ 

„Good lord…“ 

In the meanwhile at the terrace, Lisa was giving Justin a suspicious look. 

„What is it, Lizzy?“ he asked. 

„Uncle T… um… I mean… dad…“ 

He raised his eyebrows, waiting for her to move on.

„Um… you know… there’s one thing on my wish list, which is impossible to realize…“ she continued talking. 

„Which thing, Lizzy?“

„I wished for my dad singing for us during the entry,“ she explained. 

Justin smiled at her and nodded. 

„It would be a major honor for me stepping in.“ 

Lisa’s eyes begun shining. She fell excitingly around Justin’s neck. 

„Thank you! Thank you so, so much, dad!“ 

„Is this how we call him now?“ Jake asked, with a sassy grin in his face. 

Lisa released Justin and continued smiling at him.

„It makes sense, don’t you think? He’s marrying our mom.“ 

Jake nodded.

„Does it mean he also takes all responsibilities as a dad?“ 

„Of course,“ Lisa said cheeky. 

Justin and Eve exchanged irritated glances. 

„What responsibilities?“ Justin asked. 

Jake cleared his throat. 

„Well… um… my car is pretty old…“ 

Justin gave him an outraged look. 

„You’re earning own money with your album! How you dare asking me for a new car?“

„I thought you would put a little more effort to please your step kids,“ Jake teased. 

Justin looked at Eve. She smiled amused and shrugged her shoulders. 

„Do something,“ he said. 

Eve came closer and embraced his waist. 

„Look… we’re already paying for Lizzy’s and Silas’s fairy tail wedding… it’s just money…“

„Yap… and you have more you could ever spend…“ Jake added. 

Justin gave him another stern look. Jake smiled.

„Love you, daddy.“ 

„Same here!“ Lisa cheered. 

Both kids came closer and embraced Eve and Justin at once. Justin couldn’t suppress a smile. Their spoiled kids were terribly annoying sometimes. But he loved all of them from the bottom of his heart and felt incredibly blessed having them in his life.
