Chapter 07: Forgive and Forget

“Hey… how are you?” he asked
Jocelyn sat down on the couch in shock
“Why are you calling me?”
“I just wanted…to umm…say that…I know what happened”
“What do you mean?”
“The guy in the picture…It’s Brandon”
“Thank you caption obvious” she semi screamed at him through the phone
He was silent
“If you would have listened to me, I wouldn’t be here…we wouldn’t be in this situation”
“I know baby, I’m sorry…please I can’t live without you” he said
Jocelyn’s eyes started to fill with tears; she lay down on her back on the couch.
“You didn’t even believe me…you know how much that hurt?” she said “And you want me to take you back??”
“Yes…”
“No!” she screamed “If you didn’t tell the whole world about me cheating, then maybe…but you did, you wouldn’t even let me explain”
“I’m sorry” Josh started
“I can’t do this” Jocelyn said “I have to go”
“Call me back” Josh pleaded
“Maybe”
“I guess that will have to do, I love you”
“Bye” Jocelyn hung up

She put the phone down on the coffee table and covered her face with her hands and started crying quietly. She continued to cry, not loudly as to not to wake Jenee when her front door opened.

“Jocelyn” Allyson called
Jocelyn sniffled hearing Allyson and wiped her face
“In here” Jocelyn said sniffling
Allyson saw her and knew she’d been crying, she walked over and sat down next to her on the couch.
“What’s wrong?” she asked
Jocelyn shook her head “Nothing”
“Something” Allyson said “What?”
“Josh called” Jocelyn said
Allyson looked at her “You serious…what did he say?”
“He said that he knew the guy in the picture was Brandon, and he wants me to go back to him” Jocelyn said
Allyson sighed and hugged her best friend close as she cried on her shoulder.
“Why can’t I just find someone who won’t cheat on me, or who trusts me” she asked “Like you”
Allyson looked down at her “It will happen” Allyson promised
“No it won’t” she said “I have a choice between a cheater, and an accuser” she pouted
Allyson smiled and hugged her friend “There’s someone for everyone”
“But no one for me” Jocelyn said
Allyson rubbed Jocelyn’s back trying to get her to relax.
“So, what else happened today?” Allyson asked trying to change the subject
“Nothing, we met J for lunch and saw Lance on the way down” Jocelyn said
“Lance?” she questioned “Doing what?”
“Walking his dog” Jocelyn said
“Oh” Allyson said

They talked a little more, and then the familiar sounds of Jenee fussing could be heard, and Allyson got up and went to pick her up while Jocelyn cleaned up around the living room. Allyson came out of the hall holding Jenee on her hip, and Jenee’s diaper bag slung on her arm.

“Aww you’re leavin?” Jocelyn asked
Allyson nodded “I got to get home to start Joey’s dinner” she said
Jocelyn smiled and kissed Jenee’s head
“Bye Jen, see you soon” Jocelyn said
“Bye” Jenee squealed

Allyson and Jocelyn laughed, they hugged bye and then Allyson was on her way. Jocelyn sat back down and looked at the phone that lay on the coffee table. She didn’t know what to do, she still loved Josh he had been her life for nearly 5 years now. She sighed and rubbed her face in frustration. Then the phone rang causing Jocelyn to jump. She looked at the phone, it wasn’t her cell it was her home phone. She reached over to the side table and picked it up.

“Hello?”
There was silence, Jocelyn could hear breathing
“Hello?” she asked again
“Joc, hey it’s Lance”
Jocelyn’s eyes got big “Lance…hey”
“What’s going on?”
“Nothing…you?”
“Same, how was your lunch with Justin?” he asked
“Good actually”
“Cool” Lance said
“Yea, so…” Jocelyn trailed hoping he would get to the point of the conversation
“Yea…do you have plans tonight?” he asked
“Actually no” Jocelyn said “Why?”
“Well I felt bad for not going to lunch today…so umm I was thinking…if you wanted to maybe…we could grab some dinner”
Jocelyn’s breath caught in her throat, and she took a breath.
“Umm…sure why not” Jocelyn finally said
“Great!” Lance said a little too excited
“But Lance…as friends ok?” Jocelyn warned
“Oh of course” Lance said “What time should I pick you up?”
“Umm” Jocelyn thought. She couldn’t let her parents know, her mom would die of happiness. Dianna loved Lance like a son; she always wanted them to get married one day.
“How about I meet you” Jocelyn suggested
“Ok, where do you have in mind?” Lance questioned
“What about Hickory Pit” Jocelyn suggested
“Hmm sounds good” Lance said “Let’s say about 7:30?”
“Sounds good to me” Jocelyn said
“Good, I’ll see you then”
“Bye”

Jocelyn hung up and looked at the phone. She could not believe she just said yes. Justin was going to kill her. She sighed and got up; she had to get ready for her dinner.
