It was a chilly february morning three days before Valentines day when Justin and Emma headed to a local jewelers, sans Riley, to look at rings.

The jewery store was cleraed out completely and the attendents gladly showed the couple a range of gold and silver settings and bands while Emma and Justin looked each over attempting to find a pair they both could agree on.

"Ooh, this one is nice." Emma said, looking at a gold set.

"I'm not a big fan of gold." he said, glancing at it quickly.

"Oh, alright." she replied.

Finally they found a platinum set of simple bands that matched wonderfully with Emma's engagement ring and they placed their order and headed back to the house.

"Are you going to see JC again tonight?" Emma asked as they were cleaning up from dinner. It was around 9 at night and Justin had already put Riley to bed before coming back to help Emma with the dishes.

"No why?"

"I don't know, it just seems like you're there a lot."

"Oh. I've just been... helping him with some music, I'm sorry." He said.

"It's okay. I just hate falling asleep alone." She hopped up on the counter and threw the dish towel at him and he grinned.

"Well, I guess I'll have to do something about that." He grinned wickedly and weaved around the table and chairs to stand in front of her. He put his palms on her knees and locked his eyes on hers. He pulled his hands apart and leaned in between her legs, sliding his hands up her legs and then pulling her towards the very edge of the counter.

She waited to see what he would do and he waited for some kind of reaction, neither of them wanting to give in but both craving the brake in the others resolve. Finally after a few tense moments Emma was the one to cave.

She moved so quickly that Justin barely had time to catch his breath. She locked her legs around his waist and wrapped her arms around his neck crushing his mouth against her own. He was shocked at first but once he got a chance to catch his breath he lifted her off the counter and stumbled out of the kitchen.

For once, no matter how wrong it might have seemed, they forgot to remember Riley sleeping secured in her bedroom and lost themselves in the passion. They laughed and kissed and created a trail of clothing from the kitchen to their bedroom where they locked themselves away and Emma did not fall asleep alone.

(Valentines Day)

It was late in the morning when Justin wandered into his bathroom just as Emma was getting out of the shower. She had a white cotten towel wrapped around her and she was leaning up against the sink, blow drying her hair. She turned off the dryer when Justin came up behind her and hugged her. She turned around so that her back was now against the counter.

"What's up?" she asked.

"Listen, it's 11 now, I am gonna go over to my moms for a little bit with Riley, but tonight, it's just us. No Riley, no wedding stuff, no baby stuff. Just you and me." Justin smiled softly and trailed a fingertip along Emma's jawline before kissing her softly. "I'll see you this evening m'dear."

"Okay. Have fun, I'll probably call Kelly and see what she's up to."

"Kay." Justin winked and left the bathroom. She heard him pick up his keys and hat from the dresser and shut the bedroom door behind him when he left.

True to his word Justin returned home that evening after leaving Riley with his mother to take Emma out. He walked in the front door around five jokingly shouting "Honey I'm home!" into the foyer and hearing her yell back at him.

"I'm upstairs." She called out. He jogged upstairs and found her sitting on the edge of the bed, looking a little green.

"Are you okay?" He asked, coming closer and sitting on the edge of the bed next to her and putting his hand on her back.

"Yea. I think it's just morning sickness." she said.

"But it's five at night. Should we call the doctor?" He asked nervously, his eyebrows furrowed and he stood up.

"No, no. I called my mom. She said that sometimes it comes at night instead of the morning and I havn't really had any problems in the morning so that's probably what it is. I'll be fine, lets just go to dinner. Where are we going."

Her color returned after she stood up and she seemed a little better so Justin nodded slowly and hugged her, rubbing his hands up and down her bare arms.

"I have reservations at Dolce, Kutcher said he'd get me a good table and keep the press out." Justin answered. "Alright?"

"That sounds great. I love italian."

"Great." He smiled "Now go get ready." he turned her around and playfully pinched her butt before collapsing backwards onto the bed. She knocked his knee with her knuckles and smiled when he said "ow."

"Serves you right." she laughed and walked into the closet to find a suitable dress to wear. An hour later she was dressed and ready and they were heading out to the car, with her complaining about feeling fat in her now slightly tight dress.

"Hey." He pulled on her hand and she inadvertantly collided into his side, seamlessly his arm glided around her and pulled her against him. She looked up and waited for him to finish what he was saying.

"Stop it." He said, looking her right in the eye. "You're beautiful, and I don't care what you say. You're not fat." His other hand rubbed her stomach and then wrapped around her waist and when she smiled softly at him he couldn't help but smile back. "Got me?" he asked.

She nodded slowly and stood up on her tiptoes to kiss him. "I love you." she said and hopped in the car when he opened the door for her.

He shut the door, and the window was open so he leaned in. "I love you too. Now kiss me again and let's go eat."

"How could I refuse an offer like that." She laughed and happily fufilled his request.

"I have no idea." he replied with a wink "I know I never could."

She waited for him to get in the drivers side of the car. "You couldn't resist kissing yourself?" she knew what he meant, but she was bound and determined to make him say it anyway.

He looked at her and raised a suspiscious eyebrow. "No my love, resist kissing you." As if to prove his point he leaned forward and kissed her.

"I know." she smiled and he shook his head, started the car and headed downtown. They arrived at Dolce amoungst a flurry of camera flashes from the press line, and Justin handed his car keys to the valet and escorted Emma inside where they were immediately seated. The manager came out to greet Justin and stand with the waiter as he took their order and then left them to their conversation over their drinks and complimentary appetizers.

"Ow." Emma said suddenly and her hand dropped his and rested on her stomach.

"Are you okay?" Justin asked, looking at her curiously.

"Yea I think so..." Emma trailed off as her facial expression changed into one of excruciating pain. "Oh my God." she mumbled.

"What?!" Justin stood up, looking around frantically, wondering what he should do.

"Justin! It hurts!"

"What hurts Emmy, where?" Justin rushed around the table and held her in his arms.

"My stomach. Oh my God it hurts." She was crying and shaking and he waved a hand in the air to get someone's attention.

"Someone call 9-1-1!" He shouted and held onto her more tightly. He whispered softly to her. "I'm gonna get you to the hospital Baby. Just breathe, and hold on." A few tears slipped out of his eyes and he waited for what seemed like hours until the EMT's came running into the restarant to help.

12 and a half grueling and depressing hours later, Justin was walking around the corner into Emma's hospital room after getting a drink when he heard the television echoing his and Emma's name.

"In entertainment news, Emma Waldman, the woman who finally managed to convince superstar Justin Timberlake to settle down and commit, was rushed to the hospital later yesterday evening. Witnesses claim that the 9-1-1 call was made after Timberlake's fiancee complained of severe stomach pains. This comes after weeks of pregnancy rumors. Many suspect that Waldman is pregnant with what would be Timberlake's second child. The first daughter suddenly appeared early last year, and is rumored to be the result of a one night stand gone wrong. For a complete and updated report on this story as well as a timeline of Timberlake and Waldman's romance, tune in to News at Noon with Johnny and Kim."

When he came into the room it appeared that Emma was asleep, but he thought he saw a tear slide down her cheek. He reached for the remote and turned off the television and then pulled the thin sheet over her. He pushed the hair away from her face and softly ran his thumb along the dark circles under her puffy eyes. He leaned down and kissed away the wet tear, and then lightly placed kisses on her forehead and then each of her eyes. With one last touch of his palm on her cheek he set the cup of water on the table next to the bed and then sat down in the chair next to it. He leaned his head against the back of the chair and sighed.

As he fell asleep he couldn't prevent the few tears that escaped from his eyes.
