Well dang.  I never figured Jacques to be part of this conspiracy to keep JC and Annie away from each other.  It's been intense and riveting so far.  I must tell you though, before I read the last two lines of this chapter, when you wrote about Claude turning one last time, my heart broke, just knowing what was going to happen.  A beautiful, yet sad ending to this chapter.
