Dance music and laser lights filled the room. You could barely hear
the music over the women screaming. Just like Krystal to bring her to
a friggin strip club. When she said she wanted to clear her mind she
didn't mean with a lap dance. Even though that dance from Malcolm Sex
did get her mind off some things.
"Krystal, um I appreciate this I really do. But I think I've had
enough of florescent Speedos for one night."
"Well I haven't go get a drink." Damn horny ol something. The way she
and lance went at it you'd think she was completely satisfied. No…she
needed some strippers too. Freak. Kristina got up from the table to
get something to drink. Normally she wasn't a drinker but hey one
thing she learned from dramas filled with hot sexy teens hardcore
drinking washed away every problem. I hope you can tell I'm joking
here.
"What can I get for ya sexy?"
"Yuh…Heineken."
"Coming right up" the Tyson Beckford look alike pulled out a beer and
a cup for her. As she was waiting someone out the corner of her eye
caught her attention. A bar filled with women with one man. One
familiar man.
"Think you can hold that drink back there for me for a sec hottie?"
Throw in hottie with a smile and a guy will do anything you want.
"Sure thing."
"Thanks" she winked. Making her way through the heavy crowd she
walked closer to the guy who was now getting a really hot lap
dance. "Damn they didn't even dance like that for me and I'm a
chick!" she said to herself. Whoever the guy was, was really enjoying
that dance. His hands rested on his waist as he humped close to him.
Just a few more feet, she'd see who it was. Kristina gasped in shock
when her eyes fell upon him. She knew he looked familiar from afar
but that FAMILIAR?! "Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!" If he saw
her he'd be muy embarrassed just like she was at the moment. Not even
bothering to go back to the bar she ran right to Krystal and grabbed
her arm.
"What the hell is wrong with you?! You are ruining my naked fantasy
experience."
"We gotta go! We gotta go!" she screamed.
"What? Why?!"
"Because….someone's here."
"Who?" Kristina leaned over to Krystal's ear so she could hear
exactly who. When she did she was equally as shocked.
"I wanna see! Are you sure it was him?"
"Yes it was him! I recognize that face anywhere! We gotta get out of
here!"
"Yeah let's!" Quickly they ran out of the club to outside which felt
so much more safer. What was he doing there?! Wow they never thought
he…he liked that sort of thing. But there he was getting a hella lap
dance that made Kristina blush. "I can't believe this!"
"Neither can I."
"Are you going to say anything?"
"No….no, I'll let him say something if he wants. It'll be better
coming from him anyways. I just--"
"Can't believe it?"
"Not at all. Krystal, I'm traumatized."
"Oh shut up, lets go." Still stunned from what she saw Kristina
entered her darkened home. Justin was still mad at her so he didn't
bother stay up waiting for her to come in. In a way she was glad that
he hadn't because no only was she still pissed at him, but was still
pretty frozen from what she witnessed that night.
~*~
That next morning Kristina woke up to Justin sitting at the table
with the kids and that ho. Neither really said anything to one
another, in fact that she didn't. When she walked into the kitchen
and grabbed her carrot juice. Luckily for her she was going to work
so she wouldn't have to be around him.
"Hi maman!"
"Hi mommy!"
"Hi Kristina."
"Hi princess, sweetie and lele" she gave each of her children a kiss
and Alesha a hug. "I'll be gone all day so make sure they get dinner
alright?" Justin didn't say anything, still in a funky attitude.
Funny how she didn't even bother saying one word to Veneska who was
sitting right there. "Alright?" she repeated more sternly.
"Alright" he replied with an attitude. She didn't even bother getting
into with him, just leaving out to her car to go.
"Justin is everything ok?" Veneska asked.
"No" he sighed.
"You can talk to me about it."
"I don't want to bother you with my problems."
"You won't bother me." Justin didn't mean to be so candid with the
woman who was vying to break the couple apart but at the moment he
just needed someone to talk to about his situation.
"Veneska I don't want you be offended."
"Its about me?"
"Somewhat." Good so far things were working. They were arguing,
arguing about her. On the inside she was smiling.
"Tell me, I won't get offended, I promise."
"I'm not sure if you can make a promise like that."
"Try me." Who wouldn't get offended if they were told `oh yeah my
wife things you're a gold digging home wrecker ready to break up our
marriage?' He had to rephrase that or just not mention it at all.
"Well Kristina mentioned last night that…..that maybe we should've
had a paternity test done. I said no way because I know Alesha's
mine, I just know it."
"She is! I don't sleep around Justin!" Yeah right, she got around
more than most call girls. See that's why he didn't want to mention
anything because he didn't want that reaction.
"I know! I'm sorry for bringing it up."
"No not at all, is that why she didn't say anything to me this
morning? Normally she's really friendly."
"Yeah I guess, I'm sorry Veneska. Really I am, I don't know what's
gotten into her."
"Its ok really. I understand where she's coming from. Look if you
want to get one done then we can."
"Naw we don't have to do that."
"No, we should then that would settle everything once and for all."
"Are you sure you want to do this?"
"Yeah its fine Justin, really it is." Come on a bitch was always
prepared. Kristina could ask for a million paternity tests if she
wanted. She had nothing to hide. "Whenever you want to do this then
we can."
"Thanks for being so understanding Veneska, really."
"No problem." Veneska stayed awhile over the mansion watching
cartoons with the kids. She hated to admit this but Justina and J
were both adorable. Even though J kind of shunned her. Justina on the
other hand was very welcoming, inviting her to her kindergarten
eastern play. Too bad they weren't going to be around much. Soon it
was time to go so Veneska got Alesha ready to head out.
"Thanks for listening to my problems."
"Hey no problem, if you ever need someone to talk to I'm here."
"Good to know, thanks again."
"Yup, say goodbye your daddy Alesha."
"Bye daddy."
"Bye sweetheart." With a kiss, Alesha and Veneska left out. Like
every time she left out of the mansion she had to call Ruby with an
update.
"Meet me at Starbucks on Dixon road, I have some news for you" she
giggled. In mere minutes the two women met at the café to chat. Ruby
rushed in looking for her friend who was sitting in a corner in the
far left side of the establishment.
"So give me the goods!"
"Get this I'm over there this morning and the little bitch comes in
with a `tude right, doesn't say shit to me. Neither are saying
anything to each other so when she left I asked Justin what was up he
said they got in an argument. Something about her wanting a paternity
test, can you believe that shit?"
"I'm surprised she waited this long. Give the bitch what she wants."
"I told him that, he's going to talk to her about it tonight. She's
not going to know what do when those results come back positive."
"Tell me about it." From a distance Krystal watched Veneska
animatedly talk along with another woman. Whatever she was all giddy
about must've been something. Each muscle in her face was stretched
from the smile she was sporting. What was those two up to?
~*~
After a long day, Kristina walked into the house tired as all get
out. She could hear Justin watching Dudley do-right and little J
knocked out in his bassinet. Justina was beside him penning some
lyrics. She still didn't say anything and neither did he. Kristina
walked over to their silver fridge pulling out some juice and cottage
cheese. If he didn't want to say anything, she didn't want to either.
"You've got you wish" he said breaking the silence.
"Excuse me?" Kristina looked up at Justin who was looking at her with
a cold stare.
"You heard me you're getting your wish. Veneska agreed to having a
paternity test. Happy?"
"No I am not happy."
"Could've fooled me, I thought something like that would."
"I'm not a monster Justin. I only mentioned it for your benefit,
sorry that I'm looking out for your best interest."
"Oh so now you know what's my best interest?"
"Yes I do just like you know mine."
"Quite honestly from these past few days I'm not sure if I know much
of anything about you anymore." Kristina just scoffed, what had
gotten into him? She shook he head walking over to him. Surprising
him, she walked over to him and placed a kiss on his cheek.
"I love you Justin, but I'm not going to talk to you while you're
acting like a jerk." No more amongst the two were said. Kristina
grabbed the items she pulled out of the fridge and walked out leaving
him alone. If that's how it was going to be then fine. And did she
ever keep her promise, Kristina hadn't said one word to him for two
days when they had to go to the hospital to get the paternity test
administered. She listened on as the woman spoke of the procedure.
Justin thought she was fake, Veneska's concern was faker than the
nails on her hand. Each question called Kristina to roll her eyes
which Justin did not appreciate. She didn't have to be so rude about
it all. Anyways she looked on as they took a swab of saliva from each
parent or so called parent.
"I hope everything works out" Veneska whispered to Justin.
"So do I." Oh whatever. Her heart though did go out for Alesha. What
if Justin wasn't her father? Then what would she do? Would she ever
find her father? Or were there so many men Veneska had no clue? Boy
was she watching too much Maury now.
"Alright you all that should do it, we'll know in two days. The
office will let you know what time to come in."
"Thank you ma'am." The four all left out of the room together.
"Hey guys I'll be back, I have to go to the bathroom" Veneska said.
"Yeah sure." Veneska walked off around the corner in search of her.
Making sure the coast was clear she approached her.
"So how'd it go?"
"Good, good well this makes it all official Ruby. Get ready to pack
your bags, we're gonna be moving in that mansion in no time" she
laughed.
"I know! Come here girl!" Ruby and Veneska happily embraced each
other. Meanwhile on the other side of the corridor Justin tried to
soothe Alesha who was still crying from the invasion of her mouth.
"Its ok princess" he whispered rubbing her back.
"Um…I'm gonna go get her a Kleenex" Justin was shocked to hear the
first words to leave her mouth in 48 hours.
"Yeah sure." Kristina hoped off the table in search of the bathroom.
Strangely enough she caught a glimpse of Veneska with a woman
hugging. She couldn't really tell if she was crying because her back
was turned to face her. Something though was off. That girl with the
red hair she was hugging looked mighty familiar. When they let go she
moved away so they wouldn't see her. Why did that woman spark a
feeling within her? Who was she? As bad as she wanted to go and get a
closer look she chose not to. Oh she'd be back to find out exactly
who she was, hell or high water.
~*~
Simply looking at Kristina, you could tell things weren't good. Brown
bags marked her face as well as fatigue. Since Veneska walked back in
to their lives she had trouble going to sleep, let alone long days at
work and the kids. Joey and J.C. could tell that she was trying to
put on a front. That wasn't working with the two guys that had known
her for 6 years.
"Are you sure you're not hungry?"
"Positive." Alright…that wasn't like her. When it came to food she
could throw down with the best of them. Now she was nitpicking at her
food as if it was laced with poison.
"Kristina you've got to eat something."
`I'm not really hungry" her voice which was just above a whispered
frightened the two. What had Justin done to her? It seemed as if her
spirit was broken. This wasn't the boisterous, happy go lucky
Kristina.
"Kristina…" J.C. took Kristina's hands in his. Her sad brown eyes
looked into his blue. "We know you're not ok. You can stop pretending
that everything is."
"I don't want to bother anyone."
"Kristina that doesn't mean to hold everything in, you're not a
bother."
"Its everything going on with Justin isn't it?" Sadly she nodded her
head still trying to hide herself. Joey lifted her head up and wiped
the stray tear that fell from her right eye.
"He doesn't want to listen to me. I'm not trying to separate him from
Alesha, its just…something about Veneska isn't right. His heart will
be broken if this child isn`t his. He refuses to believe that it
could be a possibility that she isn`t."
"Justin loves children he's going as far as to accept this without
question." Kristina nodded along with Joey.
"Do you want us to talk to him?" JC asked.
"No….it won't help. This is between us but thank you. We'll figure
something out." Kristina wiped another tear from her eye. She wanted
to believe that Alesha's paternity wouldn't hinder them but even she
wasn't sure anymore. He was so obsessed with being her father that he
didn't want to listen to anyone who believed that she might not be.
Today would answer all of their questions. 48 had passed now and the
doctor was to call with the results. That was probably why Justin was
calling her at the moment. "Hello?"
"Hey, you um need to come home."
"Ok" she whispered before hanging up.
"Was that J?"
"Um yeah, time to find out the truth." The car ride there felt as if
she was driving to a funeral. No it wasn't that bad but there was
just this grim feeling Kristina had driving there. Like she was
driving on to the beginning of the end. Pulling up to the house she
saw Veneska's car in the driveway. One deep breath…no make that two
before she stepped inside. There in the living room was Justin,
Veneska and Alesha all on the couch. Veneska gave her that if `looks
could kill' look from the couch. Evil bitch caused all this in the
first place. Justin looked up at her as she approached the living
room. He approached her, hands in his pockets. Just the look he gave
her let her know. Pain surged through her body. There was absolutely
nothing to say. She nodded her head indicating to him that she
comprehended it all. Behind him Veneska was all smiles. You could see
that she was hurt and ready to cry at any minute. She watched as the
two stayed silent from the news. Kristina turned away walking out of
the room. She couldn't wait to tell Ruby. Justin walked back over to
the couch next to Veneska who was having a very hard time holding in
the laughter that ached to be released.
"Just give her some time" she said in a calming voice.
"Yeah." Yeah time alright, time to get her things together and get
out of her future home.
