PART 4:
~&~The Next Day~&~
Melody woke up as the sun shone through her window. She groaned, and turned over. She didn't want to wake up; right now dreaming of Justin was much better then being awake. She looked at her clock by her bed; it was 10:30. She got out of bed, and fixed her messed up ponytail as she walked out of her bedroom. Her stomach grumbled as she smelled her dad's famous pancakes coming from down stairs, and she walked into her bathroom, and started brushing her teeth. She then walked down the stairs and towards the kitchen. Nick was at the stove as Jessica was getting the glasses out for the OJ. Her brother was in the living room watching the Sunday shows. Nick looked up at Melody dragged herself towards the table.
"Well look who decided to grace us with her presences" Nick said
Jessica looked at her daughter and smiled, and then hit Nick's arm.
"Quit being a bully" she said
Melody laughed at her parent's, and sat down in her usual seat at the table.
"Did you guy's have a good time?" Melody asked her parents
"It was fun...did you?" her mother asked
Melody grinned and looked down at the table.
"Yea" she said smiling
"You and that Justin boy were kind of close" Jessica stated
Melody blushed as Nick looked at Jessica with evil eyes. Then Ben walked in, and sat down across from Melody. Nick put the plate of pancakes on the table. They all talked about the party last night, and all the fun it was.
As Melody cleared the table, the phone rang. Melody stiffened, she forgot all about Justin's call until now. She became real nervous as Jessica picked up the phone.
"Hello" her mother's graceful voice said
Melody looked at her mother as a smile spread across her face.
"Hold on" Jessica said, and then covered the phone with her hand
"Mely" Jessica said, "Phone for you"
Melody dried her hands with a dishtowel, and took the phone. Nick looked at her as she walked off to the playroom with the phone, then he looked at Jessica as she smiled at her daughter. Melody walked into the room and sat down with a huff on the overstuffed couch.
"Hello?" she said
"Hey Mel, it's Justin" his beautiful voice said
Melody blushed as she smiled.
"Hey Justin" she said
"How are you?" he asked
"I'm ok...tired" she said with a yawn
"Me too" he laughed "I just got up" he said
She giggled "Lazy Bum" she said
"I woke up thinking of you, so I thought I’d call" he said
"Aww" Melody gushed
Justin laughed
"So...what are your plans today?" he asked
"Uhh...absolutely nothing" Melody said
He laughed
"Why?" she asked
"Just wondering" he smiled into the phone
Then there was silence
"Hey I got an idea,” he blurted out
"Yea?"
"Why don't we go to the beach?" he asked
"Yea?"
"Yea!!"
Melody laughed
"You really want to go?" Justin asked
"Of course..." she said
"Cool...uh...how about I pick you up about 1:30?" He said
Melody thought for a minute
"Hmmm..."
Justin laughed
"Well I have to ask my parents..." she said
"Ok..." he said, "Page me yes?"
"Yea ok...what's your number?"
"555-678-0123" he said
"OK...I better go ask" she said
"Ok...talk to you later then..."
"Alright" she said "Bye"
They both hung up the phone. Melody squealed as she put the phone down. She ran out of the room, his number clenched into her fingers. Jessica and Nick looked like they were in a deep conversation.
"Mom" Melody said walking into the room
Jessica looked at her
"Yea baby" she said
"Uh…can I go to the beach with Justin today?" she asked jumping up and down
Jessica smiled
"Just Justin??" she asked
"Uh I think so,” Melody said
Jessica looked at Nick, and he put on a fake smile.
"Sure baby" she said, "he's picking you up?"
"Yea..." she nodded
"OK...I want to meet him ok?" she asked
Melody nodded excitingly
"Thanks mom" she said and kissed her cheek, and then she ran up the stair's, to go page Justin.
Jessica turned to Nick. She could tell he was pissed.
"Nick-" she started
"So she can date now?" he asked
"Nick, she's 16..." she said
"Exactly!" he said
Jessica looked at him
"Do you remember what we did on our first date?" he asked "and we had already known each other, they just met last night!"
Jessica looked at him, and blushed
"Nick, she's responsible...she knows what she's doing..." she said
"Yea, and what happens when she comes home pregnant?"
"Nick! We did not go that far on our first date!!"
"Yea, but time's change Jess!"
"C'mon, it's not like he's gonna run off with her...we're gonna meet him" she said "and it's Justin Timberlake for goodness sakes!!" she said
"Exactly...the number one guy in the music business right now!"
Jessica sighed and looked at him, with evil eyes.
"She's going on this date, whether you like it or not!"
She then stormed off, up the stairs. Nick looked at her as she walked, and sighed in frustration hitting his hand on the counter.
Melody rushed into the nearest room as she heard her mom walk up the stairs. She had just heard her mom and dad's argument. She hated it when they fought like that, and now it was over her. She looked around at the room she was in. It was her dad's study. The shelves were covered in books and pictures. The wall was where her father's music group's award's when their CD's had gone Gold. There was also a glass shelf of awards. She sat down on the leather recliner, and looked at the phone. She really liked Justin, and her mom did say it was ok. What could possibly happen on the first date? After a little she decided to page Justin "yes". She then got up, and walked out of Nick's study and went into her room. She then looked through her closet for something to wear. About 20 minutes later, she decided on jean short's, and a baby blue tank top with her Roxy sandals. She took a shower, got dressed did her make-up and her mom did her hair in twist’s. She was now in her room talking to Jodi on the phone. She talked to her about last night, performing, and Justin. Around 1:35 the doorbell rang. Melody's breath caught in her throat
"Is that him?" Jodi asked
"I think so..." Melody said
"Then go!" Jodi laughed, "Have a good time...call me"
"OK...bye"
She hung up. She took a deep breath, and heard her mom answer the door. She then walked out of her room, and down the hall towards the stairs. She then heard her mother's laughter, as she walked down the stairs. She saw Nick and Jessica talking to Justin; Tina and JC standing behind him. Jessica looked up and saw Melody; she smiled.
"C'mon Mely, quit lollygagging and get down here" she said
Melody smiled and continued her walk down the stair's trying not to look like an idiot. Justin looked at her and grinned. Tina nudged JC, and he looked at Justin's face and giggled. They soon were all introduced and then said good-bye, and walked out of the door. They walked towards JC's jeep that was parked in front. Melody and Justin got in the back seat and JC drove while Tina sat in the passenger seat.
"Sorry about us tagalongs" Tina said "Johnny's orders..."
"Oh, it's ok" Melody said smiling
"We're just here to chaperon...so when you want to wander off, you can...just don't get in trouble ok?"
Melody nodded
"Tin, shut up" JC said laughing, "They're not little kid's"
"Ok, Ok" she said then leaned back in her seat
JC drove down the road that led to the beach. There were shops and things down there, so everyone would win. During this time Melody and Justin made small talk, talking to JC and Tina.
