J.C. glanced over at his dining companion. He was fervently beginning to wish that she would shut up, since she
had been talking non-stop for 10 minutes. He wouldn’t have minded it so much, if she talked about things other than herself. How
could a person talk about only themselves for 10 minutes? He would nod at the appropriate moments, so as not to seem that he was
being rude. He started to regret even agreeing to see Tanya. It was starting to seem like a big mistake. And what if Sarah
found out? He absently wondered if she would even care, since she seemed to talk of nothing else but work and her co-worker David.

He wouldn’t admit it to Sarah, but he was jealous of David. From the way that Sarah talked, a person would think
that she liked him as more than a friend. Part of him hoped that she would find out, and then maybe she’d be the one to feel
jealous for a change.

"J.C., are you listening to me?" Tanya asked, somewhat irritably.

"Yeah, I’m listening." J.C. replied. "I just zoned out a minute. What did you just say?"

"I said", Tanya replied, "isn’t that your girlfriend over there? She’s got good taste. The guy she’s with is
gorgeous!"

J.C. turned in the direction that Tanya was looking. Sure enough there was Sarah walking in with some guy. He
noticed that as she walked in, that every guy in the place was looking at her. Where did she get that dress? Man she looks
beautiful tonight. Who the hell is she with?
He watched them sit down at the table next to them. His anger and jealousy
grew as Sarah leaned over to her mystery guy and rubbed her hand up his arm. She then placed her hand against his face. J.C.
narrowed his dark blue eyes as he glared over at the next table. What in the hell was Sarah doing?

He wasn’t trying to eavesdrop on their conversation, but when he heard her say, ‘David what do you want’, it felt
like an icy hand gripped his heart. So that’s whom she was with. The ever wonderful, ever perfect David. I guess what we
have wasn’t enough for her.
He quickly turned his head away before Sarah could see him.

"I was right, wasn’t I" Tanya asked quietly.

"Yeah." J.C. replied. "I wish you weren’t, but you are." He sighed heavily and ran his hands through his hair.
He looked back over at Sarah’s table and noticed that the waitress had brought them their drinks. He looked longingly at Sarah,
and he wished it were he with her tonight. He saw how the light glinted off of her light brown hair, and he had to fight the urge
to run his hands through it.

"Are you ready, David?" Sarah asked, placing her glass on the table. "I think our work is done here."

"I’m ready." David replied. "The question is, what’s going to happen later on. I mean, how’s he going to take
this?"

"I’ll handle that." Sarah told him. "Don’t worry about it." She motioned for the waitress to come over.

"Ready for your bill?" Their waitress asked.

Sarah nodded. She opened her purse and took some money out. "Keep the change." She replied as she included a tip
with the bill.

"Thank you!" The waitress replied. "Have a good night you two."

"Oh we will." Sarah replied. She smiled at David. "We certainly will."

Sarah got up from her chair and grabbed her purse. "Let’s go, David." David reached over and placed his arm
around her waist. Sarah made sure that as they made their way past J.C.’s table that she didn’t look his way.

J.C. decided that he’d had enough. He slammed his glass down onto the table and got up from his chair. He
glanced over at Tanya and noted her bemused expression.

"I guess this means that the date is over." Tanya said. "Don’t worry about the bill, I’ll get it." She motioned
toward the exit where Sarah and David had left a few minutes ago. "Go after her and see if you can salvage your relationship. A
relationship like yours shouldn’t be wasted."

J.C. walked over to Tanya and placed a kiss on her cheek. "Thank you, Tanya, for understanding. Don’t worry, I’m
going to take your advice."

He all but ran out of the room, trying to catch up with them. He got there just as the elevator door closed.
"Dammit!" He muttered to himself. He walked over to the front desk; maybe he could get some answers there.

The desk clerk looked up as J.C. approached the front desk. "How may I help you sir?" He asked.

"I’m looking for my girlfriend. She should be checked into one of your rooms. Her name is Sarah Ramsey."

The desk clerk typed the name into the computer. He looked at the screen a few minutes and then said, "Here we go.
She’s in Room 200."

"Thank you." J.C. replied. He walked to the elevator and pressed the 3rd floor button. He grew nervous as the
floor numbers lit up. Finally, the doors opened onto the 3rd floor. He walked out and started looking for Sarah’s room number. He
looked up at the door in front of him. There it was, Room 200. J.C. gained control of his emotions and raised his hand to knock
on the door.
