"So when is the wedding date?"
"We haven't set one, we're thinking about something a little
different. Kristina wanted a winter wedding but that's a little soon
for everything."
"Well what about April?"
"Good idea ma." Justin heard the front door close. "Well I better go
ok?"
"Alright."
"I love you."
"I love you too." Justin hung up the phone and walked to the door.
Kristina had a handful of bags in her arms.
"What is all this?"
"Christmas gifts babe. I'm gonna mail out tomorrow."
"Mail them out?"
"Yeah."
"Why would you mail them out when we're going there?"
"Huh, we--WE ARE?!"
"Yup." Kristina jumped for joy, she was going home for Christmas!
Justin didn't understand why they wouldn't. They went to his for
thanksgiving so why not hers for Christmas?
"This is the best news I've had like in forever." Christmas time came
super fast. Next thing Kristina knew they were on a plane ride headed
for Detroit. They got back in Michigan around 7. No one knew they
were coming so it'd be a surprise for everyone. "I told you should
have worn a bigger jacket."
"I didn't think it'd be this cold."
"Michigan winters are brutal but its pretty warm right now, feels
about 30."
"I don't like it."
"Oh boo hoo" she laughed. Kristina rung the door bell and waited for
someone to come. When her aunt came to the door he eyes nearly popped
out of her head. No one knew she was coming. She just laughed and let
them in. They embraced each other. She wasn't really close with her
family but she was still happy to see them. "Hey T.T." she smiled.
"Hi."
"Hey, um this is my fiancée Justin, Justin this is my aunt Sherry."
"Just call me T.T."
"Nice to meet you." They all walked in together into the living room
where more people were. Kristina pulled off her coat and took
Justin's. They all talked while her grandmother introduced him to the
rest of the family. For some odd reason Kristina looked hot at that
moment but that wasn't the time. Justin got to know her family which
wasn't very big. There was about 15 or 16 of them which was pretty
small compared to his family. He let Kristina do her thing,
reconnecting with her sister and her little cousins. By watching them
he could tell she would be a great mother. They were so happy to her
that they literally climbed her legs just to be held by her. This
Christmas was a little different than the one he was used to. Though
people all sat at the table and ate together, there weren't many.
Only the people who hadn't ate yet or that were getting seconds. Her
aunt's food was delicious and the people were pretty cool. After the
initial shock of him being a star, he was back to plain old Justin in
their eyes. What he thought about basketball, the up and coming auto
show downtown and what cars he liked, everything. He soon joined the
guys downstairs to watch some basketball with the her cousins, Sean,
Warren, Fatman (who wasn't actually fat so he just called by his real
name, Tim), Jon, her mother's boyfriend Scottie and her uncle Glen.
"Hey guys" Kristina smiled coming down the steps. "who's playing?"
"Lakers and Dallas." Kristina and Sean began talking about the game
and Mark Cuban. He knew she was a sports person but he never knew how
in depth.
"You guys the shrimp Creole is done!"
"We'll be right back, all the guys except Scottie and Jon walked back
upstairs.
"Can I talk to you for a minute?" Jon asked.
"Yeah sure." Kristina and Jon walked into the other side of the
basement. He didn't mean to be nosey but he heard everything they
talked about despite the fact they were trying to whisper.
"Yo I heard about that with Quan and DeAndre."
"What? How?"
"Yeah, dude took care of that."
"Jon, please tell me that you're not hanging around those guys are
you? I thought you were still in Kalamazoo."
"Naw dude I'm laying it down on the east."
"Aw hell, what part?"
"Van dyke." Which was basically one of the worst parts of east
Detroit. "Look I just wanted to let you know that DeAndre ain't gonna
be trying to rape nobody else that's for sure." Kristina looked at
Jon for a moment and put two and two together.
"Um, yeah." She said no more, just walked back over to the couch.
Justin put his arm around her and kissed her on the forehead. At
least her cousin got things settled with that @#%$.

The whole basement was filled with laughter. Sure it was basketball
central at first now it was girls amuck. They all got their chance to
know Justin better (and gave a few warnings about how not to break
Kristina's heart) and talk about how she loved California.
"So are we going shopping tomorrow or what?"
"Of course! You know all the sales are tomorrow."
"Bet, what time are you getting up?"
"Anytime before 12 is good." Krystal had stopped by to see her best
friend that she hadn't seen since September. It was almost as if they
hadn't separated.
"Oh wait I forgot, Justin, you want to come with?" her cousin Kelly
asked.
"I don't know, it's going to be crowded I didn't bring any security
with me."
"Gotcha."
"How about you come by here and hang out with Shawn and Warren?"
"Sure." Justin was happy to see Kristina smile as so. She looked like
she was on cloud nine, that smile could not be duplicated. The next
day Kristina got up around 7 and left out with Krystal to go to the
mall. Justin called up Warren and Shawn to come the hotel where they
hung out. They were cool with the fact that he couldn't really go
out, they just hung out, watched some sports, ate a lot of junk guy
stuff. Now they had been long gone and Justin waited for her to come
back. He slowly drifted off to sleep.
"Hey babe."
"Hey" he yawned. Looking at all those bags made his eyes grow big.
She really meant it when she said she was going shopping. "Wow talk
about shop till you drop huh?"
"Totally, the mall had everything on sale. It was all worth the long
lines." She threw her bags on the floor and climbed into the bed with
Justin. "Boy does it feel good to lay down."
"I bet."
"So how'd everything go with you and the guys?"
"It was cool, I like your fam, they remind me of J.C. and Joey."
"Cool, cool."
"So what all did you buy?"
"All types of stuff."
"Ok." Justin just held her in his arms, laying in silence.
"You know I didn't get to give you your Christmas gift."
"After all the gifts your family gave us, I totally forgot."
"Hold on." Kristina got up from the bed and walked over to her
luggage. "I hope you like." Kristina passed the big bag over to
Justin. Like a kid, he ripped the gift open. He sat there in shock.
"No you didn't!!!" he screamed. There in front of him was this framed
jersey and picture of Michael Jordan signed. He loved Michael Jordan!
If this was the only time he'd cry in front of a woman this was the
time.
"I'm guessing you like it?"
"I love it!" Justin grabbed Kristina and held her.
"Um there's something else in the bag." Justin reached in and grabbed
the other gift, a jersey for the Memphis Grizzlies with his name on
the back and a pair of Nike's with JRT on the sides airbrushed on the
side.
"Babe I love it all."
"I'm glad you do hon."
"Ok, your turn." Justin passed Kristina a little black box. She could
only wonder what was in it. Slowly she opened the box. Four tickets?
He could tell she was a little confused.
"Read `em." Kristina read them and almost fainted. There were tickets
to Paris! And not only that, two front row tickets to a Robbie
Williams concert in England. She jumped up and hugged him so fast she
knocked them both over.
"I can't believe this!"
"Well that's not your only gift."
"Justin I don't need anymore, this is wonderful."
"Well its too late, I have some things scheduled for you in Paris. We
leave out in a few days."
"Aw babe, this is so great, thank you."
"You're welcome."
"I can't believe you remembered."
"I remember everything you tell me." Justin could feel the tears from
her eyes fall to his shirt as she laid on his chest. They stayed
right there in that moment. "So I was thinking, maybe April?"
"April?"
"End of April, you know after your graduation and stuff." He could
feel her smile against his chest.
"April it is."
