All general disclaimers apply. I’m too damn lazy to write out all that shit.

Enjoy and review!

Thanks for your reviews, Gigi. It’s very much appreciated. This one’s for you!

“Are you serious?” she asked, her mouth forming the words of her thoughts.

He nodded, “Of course. We could go around to all the landmarks and take cheesy pictures.” His teeth shone in brilliance.

She smiled back, “I don’t know… are you sure?” she asked again. He sighed as he took a break from shoveling forkful after forkful into his mouth. He looked at her, her face showing slight amusement as he finally got a chance to chew and swallowed, following it with a sip from his coffee.

“Yes, I am completely sure. It’ll be fun. You get to hang out with a famous celebrity and I get to know someone new,” he smiled, “And besides, you never know what kind of surprises pop up on a road trip.”

She smiled back in silent agreement. Oh. He had no idea.

.-.-.

Jumping back in the car, Novia couldn’t help but laugh at JC’s enthusiasm and felt her own excitement rise as they got back on the road and he suddenly laughed, breaking the silence in the car, watching her play with the radio, trying to get it to work.

“Quit laughing. It doesn’t help my situation.” She playfully glared at him and he laughed again, “Do you want help?” he asked and she shook her head.

“No… I’ve been able to figure out any stereo that’s in my midst. I plan not to let my reputation go to waste on this one.” She said and furrowed her eyebrows, going back to her seat and glaring at the radio.

“Do you want my help now?” he asked again after a few minutes of her glaring at the stereo and she shook her head again, the bun at the back of her head was now getting loose and flopping about.

“No, I’m just taking a break. I think I might have a headache.” She said and he couldn’t help but laugh again.

It was quiet for a while, each in their own thoughts. JC’s revolved around the tour that he had just finished and this mystery girl that God had placed in his lap, trying to tell him something, but JC had no idea what. Looking over at the girl seated to his right, he wondered what she was thinking about.

“You know… I know this might be a stupid question, but “” he paused, looking over at her, “I know this extremely beautiful city. It’s maybe two hours from here. It’s right on the beach...” he got no further as he saw her eyes light up at the mention of the ocean.

“I’ve never been to the ocean. I’ve heard beautiful things about it, though.” Novia smiled just thinking about it and he nodded.

“It’s very beautiful. So it’s decided, Lompoc, here we come!” he said as he turned the car around and headed back.

Between those two hours, they made small talk, mostly about their childhood as Novia fiddled with the stereo, trying to figure out how to work the radio.

She finally got it to work after devoting twenty-five solid minutes to it, “HAH! And yet, my reputation still stands.” She looked smug as she went through the channels, looking for a specific sound.

And there it was “ Nsync. He sent her a look and she laughed, turning the radio to the next station and shook her head.

“I just hate listening to my own music.” He shrugged and she looked at him, head tilted.

“Why? It’s not that bad, ya know.” She commented and he grinned over at her.

“It is when you have to go through the song twenty times just to get one sound right and then have to sing it at almost every concert you threw.” He told her, making her laugh.

The song changed and she couldn’t help but laugh again as it was a song from JC’s solo album, “Do you think that someone’s trying to tell us something?” she asked as he shook his head.

“If they are, then, they’re not doing a good job of it since I can’t figure out what they’re trying to say.” He told her and she smiled, turning off the radio for him.

Sighing, she leaned back in her seat and relaxed, staring at the road, “So how much farther?” she asked and he shrugged, leaning over to turn on the GPS.

Looking quite alert now, her eyes shifted from the road to JC, “Uhh… JC? Maybe you should pay attention to the road. I’ll do that for you “ well, figure it out, anyway.”

He looked up and slowed down, seeing that cars were looking like it was rush hour in LA again, “I wonder what’s happening,” He said and she shrugged, already deep in thought, trying to figure it out, “I hope no one’s hurt.”

“There was a woman on the bicycle… she died.” She said, still fiddling with the GPS. He looked down at her and then back up.

“How do you know? Can you see her?” he asked and she sighed, eyebrows now furrowed and relaxed back into her seat when the car stopped.

“She’s standing next to my window.” She replied and he looked at her sharply, eyes round and wide.

She held face for a beat of a moment until she clutched her stomach and leaned forward, laughing, “You’re waaaay too easy to fool, JC.” She laughed and mimicked wiping away a tear as she sat up again and grinned sheepishly under his glare.

“One of these days…” he mumbled, shaking his head.
