I'm sorry but if that is how alisan looks then there is no reason she should be 25 and single.. not to mention didn't you say she was a little bigger and bland...

that girl just doesn't fit the image in my head. in fact it sort of ruined it.

Author's Response: Alisan Porter was just the basis of what I wanted my character to be and it was kind of ironic that I had named my character Alisan to begin with, so I went with it.  By bigger, I meant with chest and hips, not so much heavy - but an actual curvy woman and not too thin.

As I noted, Alisan was a dancer before she ruined her knee.  So she obviously was skinnier before, and Alisan Porter could be more portrayed by her then than presently - though it was still somewhat there.  I wanted an Italian-looking, dark haired, olive complected woman, and she was it.

None of my characters are the women that I post as characters, what I have cooked in my head will never be brought to a photo because there hasn't been any actress/model/singer/whatever that has fit the mold of who I want them to be.  They are close, but not even exact.  I like to base my original characters on real-life women, women who worry about their hips, their bellies, their insecurities ... and as you probably saw in 'By My Side', Katharine McPhee was chosen as the character for the opposite weight issue (her battle with an eating disorder) though it coincided with what many young women face - obesity, struggle with fluctuating weight or just not weighing enough.

And the bland part was actually just Justin's description of someone he refused to see past his friend until later on.  Kind of in denial, I guess?  Later on, he noted that she was beautiful and hated that she was losing weight that she had been losing.  You always see someone differently until you realize you have fallen in love with them.

Thanks for the review! :)
