so i just went back and re-read this and holy crap, i think i loved it even more the second time around.
i absolutely adore the fact that the roles are kind of switched here and you did a fantastic job with that. chelsea is so totally wearing the pants, but she doesn't come off bitchy or manly. lol.

i'll admit, at first i was feeling for the guy, and thinking of various ways to punch ameila's lights out, but then i'm like wait a second...he isn't completely innocent. he lets her pull this nonsense under the guise of "love", when in reality...he's got love staring him right in the face, in the form of charlotte.

Devon did not know which was worst, the glare of the twenty-nine candles on her birthday cake or the sparkle of the two and a half carat engagement ring on her baby sister’s finger. However, as she closed her eyes to make a wish and blow out those candles, the real blow was the realization that in another year she was turning the big 3 0 and had yet to even have a genuine relationship.
Turning thirty was one thing, but turning into a young old maid was another…
Therefore, she blew out her candles and made a wish-a pact-with herself. She had one year to today’s date to find a man to fall in love with and help her blow out that extra candle. The challenge would be just that sweet and effortless as the cake she was cutting right now.
If only she knew, love is never that simple…

and i really, really liked the fact that it wasn't one of those typical "and here's where we fall in love" type endings. it was pretty interesting to see them as just friends.
and, i love the portrayl of justin in this. he just seemed.... real, if that makes any sense. lol. he isn't portrayed as an asshole or this overly wonderful character, he's just a genuine guy, visiting with his best friend, and it was really cool to see that.
